1. The Jews of Poland should buy kosher meat from other
Rivkah   (07.13.13)
nations or go vegetarian with eggs and dairy. Daniel in Scriptures and his three friends would not eat unclean meats or drink wine since both were dedicated to idols. They were very healthy, so when clean foods are not available the people of God should find what is clean to the Lord to eat and adjust their diet accordingly or move. A holocaust survivor spoke to B'nai David Congregation a few years ago and said the Polish hatred of Jews in WWII exceeded that of the Germans. Poles are mostly Roman Catholics and Germans of WWII were mostly Lutheran and Roman Catholic. Shame on the Catholics and Protestants for their hatred of Jews. Truly, religious unbelievers are worse than mere unbelievers. How can religions claim to know the Creator of the Universe while hating His chosen people with whom HaShem has everlasting covenants not just promises that many churches think passed away but did not. There is the spiritual heritage of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the natural seed which both have promises from the Lord.
2. This whole phoney "animal-love" attitude is nothing but a
tom ,   tel aviv   (07.13.13)
smoke screen for antisemitic forces, that manage to dupe the gullible tree-huggers to support something they have no understanding of. Why don't they start with the apalling conditions most of their eggs/chicken meat is produced under? The list is long. The other issue is the circumcision ban, that these verey same "humanitarians" try to achieve. In the brain dead Europe they will succeed it seems.
3. Animals must not suffer.
Jules   (07.13.13)
They experience pain and horror as much as people do.
4. living in Poland
Steve Goodman ,   Israel   (07.13.13)
I have no "SYMPATHY" for Jews living in Poland.....WWII was not bad enough for them......DUMB IS AS DUMB DOES.....get smart.....get out....get a life.....please do not make ALIYAH.....we are looking for a few smart folks......not "DUMMIES"
5. I am really surprised by the vote
Tomek ,   Poland   (07.13.13)
Poland was a big exporter of kosher meat and my feeling was that money would trump principles as it almost always does. The religious mambo jumbo of any flavor should not justify cruelty towards animals. If we have to kill them, we have to do it humanely. That is the least we can do.
6. poland
Oded ,   miami,florida   (07.13.13)
Poland is a cesspool. Over 3 million jews perished in Poland in World War Two. What the Hell are Jews doing living in that antisemitic cesspool in 2013 ?!
7. Please tell me none of this is surprising
Scarborough1414 ,   Scarborough, ON, CA   (07.13.13)
In Claude Lanzmann's epic documentary "Shoah" there is not one frame of archival footage. All of the film was contemporary to the period (mid-1980's). In one scene, a Polish farmer claims he witnessed the trains going to Auschwitz. He was a boy at the time but was overjoyed the Jews were "getting theirs". He would stand at the edge of the tracks and draw his finger across his throat, so the Jews on the train would see it. This meant "you're gonna get it". I think of him when I see that the Polish parliament (the Sejm, I believe) has banned shechita (kosher slaughter). Read the following in your most sarcastic tone: This is a surprise? You've got to be kidding. These are Poles. These are the same people that wanted to bulldoze the Auschwitz camp to use the land to build condos and shopping malls. It took a worldwide protest to stop it. Here in Canada Polish kids used to call me all sorts of names. Nothing changes. (While we're at it, the Ukies [Ukrainians, to the uninformed] are as bad if not worse). Here's a good one: I recently overheard a goy bitch about his ex-wife and her "Jew lawyer". Why? Her lawyer was squeezing him for more money. He then began a long tirade against the Jews. If I were braver (the guy was built like a tank) I would have said, hire your own "Jew lawyer" and then you can't say the things you said. But I wanted to walk away with my skin intact so I left it alone (I'm no kid anymore). Scratch a goy hard enough and an anti-Semite will be exposed.
8. #5 Tomek: "Surprised"? Look at your history books!
David ,   Israel   (07.13.13)
The Polish people aided and abetted the Nazis in the rounding up of Jews and even participated in the massacres of Jews! That, Tomek, is history which always repeated itself! When it comes to Antisemitism, or, as I prefer to call it, Jew Hatred, Europeans have been persecuting Jews for centuries and we can never forget how the people of Europe stood and watched and even assisted in the murder of 6 million Jews!
9. halal slaughter has accepted stunning
(07.13.13)
the market for halal meat is huge and is partly met by exporting countries where stunning before slaughter has long been demanded by law. The easy solution is for the rules on kosher slaughter to adapt in the same way as the rules on halal slaughter.
10. Stun the animals First
Zechariah   (07.13.13)
The ritual is now primitive and the Rabbis ought adjust as they have with many laws including pikuach nefesh laws .It will take time but its an option to be looked at.Meanwhile Technology to Cause the Least animal suffering needs investigation.
11. No. 5 Tomek
NYC Girl   (07.13.13)
As an atheist, I have no use for religious rituals. And, as an animal lover, I'm uncomfortable with killing animals for any reason. However, it would be interesting to see how many of these Polish "humanitarians" are actually vegetarians....and not just anti-Semites.
12. Maybe its time
L ,   Israel   (07.13.13)
We re-evaluated what is considered kosher. Surely, if the 'book' was written today it would never get out of the development. Animal cruelty is wrong, no ifs or buts. I think G-d would forgive me for eating a non-kosher animal who didnt suffer as much as the kosher one. When an animal is under severe stress it produces all sorts of hormones that are harmful to humans. So its definitely is not healthier.
13. What does "religious freedom" mean?
Jarda ,   Czech Republic   (07.13.13)
Should be descendants of Aztecs allowed to sacrifice another human beings? You can worship any god, but you musn't restrict freedom of others. In 21st century, in Europe, humane treatment of animals is considered as a certificate of civility. Most of Christians don't cut lamb throat, even they consider themselves as really true Christians. Evolution takes place in all religions. Are you sure that Abraham was used to wear Shtreimel?
14. #13 Jarda: But the Good European Christians ...
Dee Bee ,   Israel   (07.13.13)
had no problems with slaughtering 6 million Jews! If the people of Europe are so concerned about animal rights why don't they ban hunting which cannot be seen as a "human way" of killing? Killing for sport is OK by JEWISH ritual killing is not. Personally, I think the animal should be stunned first but this decision of the Polish Parliament just stinks of Antisemitism in a country which has a terrible record of Jewish persecution!
15. Good
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (07.13.13)
There are more humane ways to kill for food. Just because things have been done this way for centuries doesn't mean that we shouldn't adapt to changing technologies. Pre stunning and then slashing the animals throat is a perfectly acceptable way of putting meat on the table
16. Poland and allarming return of anti-semitism
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome-Italy   (07.13.13)
I am wondering why anyone would wanto to live in Poland if you had a wonderfull place like Israel.Non only Poland is cold and really ugly, but the polish are the most antisemitic to this veri time....Polish have only oneproblem, they say:the jews.they are obsessed and Hitler poison is still alive big time in Poland. But why stay in Poland if you have a beautifull, sunny, gorgeos Israel...???
17. All of you, that think Poland is a "cesspool"&so on: had
tom ,   tel aviv   (07.13.13)
Poles produced something close to an Audi or Porsche you'd be kissing their tuches! The Germans still had Jewish blood under their fingernails when Israel signed "normalisation" papers in 65, but you still think the Poles are worse?! There were about 3 mil. Jews in Poland before the war, maybe there was a reason for that? Why not in France or Spain if it was such a cesspool? With such large number of minorities it is a given, that there were frictions with the local population. I know that Poles are antisemitic, but so are the British: but they speak English and gave us The Beatles :-). Poor, Polish peasanos...
18. Poland ... not in Love with Jews
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, US   (07.13.13)
Move to Israel ASAP and that is a wise advise...WW2 is and must be retold to the Jews all over the World and in this case in the Poland.
19. kosher slaughter is more humane
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (07.13.13)
Conventional slaughter involves forcing the animal onto a conveyor belt where it is stunned & then it's head is lopped off. There is no proof the animal doesn't feel any pain or is unconscious after the stun. Kosher slaughter involves cutting the animals main nerve & artery so that it dies quickly in the most painless way possible. Kosher meat is also far cleaner & safer. Animals are not fed feed contaminated with meat & feces & the meat is thoroughly cleaned with salt. No one has ever gotten mad cow disease from kosher meat.
20. 21th century
anton ,   istanbul   (07.13.13)
stone age mind muslims pray to god then beat their wifes jews pray to god then spit on women christian priests pray then abuse litle boys they condem even kissing in public but in their secret rooms thre is sado mazo thing going on the fatc that it will all be forgiven when they pray to god is the main reason religion is a nothing but a tool for weak confused and ill intended people you can have faith in god hope he is real, u dont need books to tell you what to do your concious is your guide book thre is nothing wrong with this but religion is utterly wrong for its a weapon of mass deception and destruction proved in years and years

And how do you know this for a fact? Or are you one of those who know everything?
22. #13 jarda
solomon ,   bklyn   (07.13.13)
You confuse animals with people. But we expect no better from your posts.
23. #13 Jarda: But the Good European Christians ...
David ,   The Galilee   (07.13.13)
had no problems with slaughtering 6 million Jews! As for Abraham, well he probably didn't wear a Shtreimel but Jesus was a Jew and he observed the laws of kashrut which inclosed kosher slaughter! He also believed in the Brit (Circumcision) as did Luke.
24. Simply, they decided kosher is uneconomical in Poland.
Michael ,   California, USA   (07.13.13)
Their decision is correct because kosher meat there has very few buyers. Before the war, with millions of Jews living in Poland, the market for kosher meat was limited also. Most of the Jews were buying the cheaper non-kosher food. Religious slaughtering should not be carried out if not economically justified, in Israel also. And it should not be carried out if the animal suffers, but this is solvable with modern technologies. Like in America.
25. Great ! I hope other countries will follow ,....
split ,   US   (07.13.13)
Poland for Poles and those who want be Poles not for a bunch of strays that invaded your home and after a while try to re-arrange your furniture and impose their customs and lifestyle ,...
26. #23 David
DavidR ,   USA   (07.13.13)
The Spirit present in those who participated in the holocaust was in no way associated with the Spirit of Yeshua HaMashiach, which you confuse with the word christian. True followers of Yeshua have His heart which was one of love, healing, and preserving life in all its forms. Please learn something before blaming the followers of Yeshua as nazis. Your religion is Judaism. Fine, mine is also.
27. Poland rejects multi-kulti
Justine   (07.13.13)
The law says that all slaughterhouses in Poland should stun animals before killing them. It has nothing to do with religion and the law applies to all Polish butchers, why make exceptions? If some religious minorities have a problem with that...it is their problem. /sarcasm off I'm being sarcastic because I remember how many Ynet commentators denigrated the idea of multicultural Europe when it was discussed in a recent article. They were forgetting that Jews sometimes have to apply for exceptions on cultural grounds as well. In truth, I'm not happy with the ban. I hope the government will at least find a solution so that local Jewish and Muslim communities can be supplied. And speaking about Muslims...if xenophobia was involved, the Muslims (who do not have a good press in Europe right now) were targeted as much as Jews. The raising islamophobia also affected Jewish communities in this case.
28. Kosher slaughter
Adam H ,   USA   (07.13.13)
I'm one of those who thinks Kosher/Halal slaughter is anachronistic and inhumane. Perhaps at one time, thousand of years ago. it was the most humane method of killing animals but not today. The religious rules were written for a different time and need to be adapted to today's knowledge.
29. Re # 3 Kosher Animals Do Not Suffer
Ariel ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (07.13.13)
B"H - The fact is Jules, that with kosher slaughtering kosher animals don't suffer. Only non kosher animals would suffer. The kosher animals, and only of the kosher animals' blood-supply to the brain gets cut off immediately. This is one of the reasons we know G-d created the world: Only He could know the anatomy of all his creation in biblical times. This is also the reason we know these animalist drives against Jews are anti-Semitic. They are not based on science but on Jew-hate

Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.13.13)
Giving advice on Kosher meat are you? Take a look at the interest rates rising in the US bond market. They are rising every day, soon to be %3. If you had any idea what this means you would be shaking in your boots. Check out Gregory Mannarino on youtube as well as Greg Hunter on youtube. Get back to me after you hear and listen to what they have to say about your precious economy and your precious dollar , mikeee.
