Though I live in Norway, I am not Norwegian. I am from the deep south of the US. I have been all over the world many times over, spending about half my time outside Scandinavia. I have a clue. You say that Doomsday is near. It isn't, at least for Jews in the Diaspora. Most, especially the Americans, are quite happy where they are. They aren't interested in living in a religious state where they can't earn a decent wage and can't even get a cheeseburger at McDonald's, not to mention supporting a bunch of lazybones who read outdated texts. Get a clue yourself!

You have just proved my point absolutely beautifully. You do not live here in Israel, I do. All that you say is pure msm regurgitation. And, soon, the anti-Semitism I. The diaspora will be so bad, all Jews will be running to Israel for shelter with only their shirts on. How do I know? You have no clue.
33. Yeah, Am Ekhad isn't important

Yeah, it was sarcastic

Reform is the largest denomination of Jews in the US, and it is very clear from all the articles and letters on Ynet that the Reform movement is anathema to Israelis. The very idea that such a movement exists and is so popular is enough to make many Talkbackers spit fire. Why would American Reform Jews want to go to Israel, where they would be discriminated against at virtually every move? They are highly successful, productive members of American society, not gluttons for punishment. Their interpretation of Judaism is more compatible with the 21st century than the dictates of the bearded blackhats who rule the promised land. By the way, Antisemitism in the US, outside of Dearborn, MI and other Islamic centers, is a non-issue. American Reform Jews know threats of imminent doomsday and vitriolic antisemitism in the US are just figments of a good imagination and your own paranoia.

I'm not lost! I know exactly where Israel is and how to book a flight on El Al but I'm over here trying to do my part to support Israel through advocacy and education where I am at. I'm coming back over as soon as I can...have been there twice in 18 months but fell and broke my arm and couldn't afford to come for the 65th. But I know where Israel is... :)
36. I've lived in Israel since 2011.

And I think I'll be leaving back to the States in 2014. I like Israel and all.. but for me I think the cons outweigh the pros. Still it was a nice experiment in immigrating to a foreign country and joining a foreign military!

I actually do live in Israel and I agree with iselin from Norway. No, there's no second Hitler coming to America anytime soon. Most American Jews (who happen to be Reform) are quite happy where they are. They have very little interest in moving to a poorer, hotter, and ruder country that is under constant threat of terrorism. I came here and gave it a shot. I made aliyah 2.5 years ago and I'll be staying another year to finish my masters degree, but after that I'm most likely moving back. I like Israel but it's not a place I see myself settled in the future.
38. Who will have the last word?
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.18.13)
Who will decide the fate of stubborn and spoiled Jews that find every excuse in the book to not settle in the Jewish state. Who do you think? It is all in His hands. Wait and see..

Good to know that I have an ally here. Good luck in finishing that MA!
40. You can have a better life in Israel
Yakov ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.18.13)
As an Olah Hadash from Los Angeles, I can state that my family has a better life in Jerusalem then in Los Angeles. Even though I earn 1/3 what I made in Los Angeles, seeing my daughters speak both English and Hebrew and understand what it is really like to be Jewish and Israeli is wonderful.
41. I have a proposal
elke ,   usa   (07.19.13)
Since the diaspora jews are thought by so many to be irrelevant at best and evil at worst, just turn your back on them -- and refuse their money. For instance, I'm sure Jewish American charities could find good use for their fund raising proceeds at home. Stand by your principles! Refuse that money!
42. turn a could shoulder to Israel.
ex oleh-chadash ,   south america   (07.20.13)
it's the best thing you can do in your life.
43. turn a cold shoulder to Israel too.
ex oleh chadash ,   Brazil   (07.20.13)
I was oleh chadash years ago, it was an awful experience, I don't advice anybody to go to Israel, its a place you can lose your money, everything is very expensive, no jobs - I was victim of jugglery too: a Brazilian woman invited me to share apartment with her and stole my money, only bad things happened there. Israelis are not friendly people, some of them are nice, but Israel, never again ! Anti semitic country !
44. I'll be turning a cold shoulder to israel soon enough
Sarah ,   Rehovot   (07.22.13)
I moved to israel as a somewhat religious woman and I'll be leaving jaded, not giving a damn about Israel's future ,etc. Israelis couldn't give a damn about the olim or their experiences. They just see us new immigrants as big, fat juicy targets that they can exploit to their heart's content. Regarding America, as a Jew whose family has been in the states for almost 200 years (and yes, I am Halachaly still a Jew...), and with a last name that sounds very, very German, I can say that there is anti Semitism, but not the sort that still flourishes in France ( I've lived there too). It's the little, very occasional comment that some non Jews make when they think that they are amongst like company... I am not complaining, but i would take the states over israel any day. I will be leaving soon and that will be one of the happiest days of my life!
