31. Military presence remains necessary
Dan   (07.18.13)
Sneh is absolutely right: the settlements undermine Israel's legitimacy and could destroy it. However the army is needed in the West Bank not just to defend the settlements, but because there is no peace with the Palestinians. Sharon and Bibi did their best to confuse the two, making Israelis believe that occupation necessarily meant settlements and vice versa. Obviously this is a lie. The settlements must be abandoned; unfortunately the military occupation can't be, until there is a credible peace.
32. What do you expect from the EU???
Harry Wright ,   UK   (07.18.13)
It is a bunch of godless countries that have enthusiastically handed over their own countries to Islam. They will see the result in the next 20-30 years. Nothing strange about them working diligently to force Israel to do the same. Nothing strange about them taking matters in hand and trying to carve up somebody else's country when it is none of their damn business. That Israel has survived their unrelenting machinations for so long is quite remarkable. If they can't recognize Hezbollah as a terrorist group despite the Burgas bus bombing, then that says it all about their judgment. Basically, they just love Islamists, particularly the Arab variety and it does not bother them one bit if their daughters, sisters, mothers and aunts are raped. It's all for the good cause of multi-culturism. As far as they are concerned, Israel must be brave and take the risk of defenseless borders. That will satisfy the hordes and they will leave Israel alone. What utter BS!
33. it doesn´t matter
jorge ,   argentina   (07.18.13)
that in 1922 the league of nation recognized palestine as the jewish national home for the rebuild of his ancient nation. West bank belong to the jews not only by history but by international law. Of course, jews can be deprived of all their rights as always happened in history.
34. From One (all) commentator

Settlements are NOT ILLEGAL and the LAND is NOT OCCUPIED. Facts.
35. hehe.....now there's a thought, #26!
Cameron ,   USA   (07.18.13)
Yes, I do like the imagery of Sarah sitting at a table full of Europeans, and attempting to "persuade" and "convince" of them of their error. A truly self-righteous duel under the sun it would be! I would lay down good coin to sit in on that wild disaster.
36. This article is contemptible leftist B.S. and fear mongering
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.18.13)
To claim Judea and Samaria have no legal standing is pure leftist B.S. Countless international law experts have incontrovertibly proven Israeli ownership of Judea and Samaria. Including even Eugene Rostow and his fellow drafters of U.N. Resolution 242. The article is full of lies and intended to scare Israel into surrendering to her mortal enemies. Despicable is too nice a term.

42. #37 Wrong thinking
Deb ,   Amsterdam   (07.18.13)
Dear Mr. comfortably-sitting On the Balcony in Akko??? Or wherever you are!! You are so WRONG! Israel does not need to provide any proof!! To whom? To you? The rest of the world?? And why would that be exactly? Just because the majority does not understand or is against something, it doesn't mean that the majority is right and that we should follow! Get over yourself already.

47. #6 - Typical gross technology ignorance
spyguy ,   seattle   (07.18.13)
Cell phones and computers are assembled in Asia with components made in China, Korea and other parts of Asia. The Intel and AMD CPUs are designed in the USA and ARM CPUs are designed in the UK. Israel contributes close to ZERO to global technology. BTW the fastest computer on earth was designed in China with mostly Chinese designed components. The ONLY thing Israelis engineers have are big egos.
48. #3 - Israel is NOT compeitive with China
spyguy ,   seattle   (07.18.13)
Vlad show a typical western gross misunderstanding about doing business in Asia. Name any product category and Chinese companies can beat the heck out of Israeli companies on innovation, quality and price. China has been the dominant player in Asia for 5000 years. When Israel loses Europe, it will not find any replacement market, especially in Asia. China has caught up and surpassed the "west" in less than 50 years.
49. Israeli gov't has put itself in untenable situation
Shachar ,   Eilat   (07.18.13)
The Israeli gov't could have claimed the territories as part of Israel and fought for recognition of this claim, as many rightist talkbackers do here. But the Israeli gov't never did this. Instead it agreed to a formula of two states for two peoples. Having agreed to the two state vision the gov't can no longer defend building settlements in areas destined to become part of Palestinian state. It is the gov't that brought this situation on itself by trying to have it's cake and eat it too.
50. Sneh is on whose payroll.
michael Pielet ,   israel   (07.18.13)
Sneh is on Abraham's payroll. Abraham was the friend of the anti-semitic, anti-zionistic, Jewish murderer, Yasser, whatever. Guild by association. Sneh's father, Moshe, was a spy working for the Kremlin, until he was exposed.
51. #49 shachar
solomon ,   bklyn   (07.18.13)
Recognizing the formula of two states for two peoples does NOT recognize its borders, no matter your wishful thinking. Israel has stated that the '47 armistice lines, which the arabs REJECTED as having any political significance, would not be the border; one of the few things they agree on. The arabs can't change their mind years after the fact and expect it to be accepted, especially if they don't accept the basis of the discussion; a Jewish state.
52. Boycott ? That 's leftists fault
Dr Daniel mostrel ,   Paris France   (07.18.13)
Who in Europe knows where are the settlements and companies working in?leftist movements put a yellow star upon companies promoting boycott against them, what a shame
53. #36 Countless? You mean more than
On the Balcony ,   Akko   (07.18.13)
the six fingers you have on one hand? Fearmongering? Gee, aren't YOU the runt of the litter who is always yelping about a "nine mile waist"? Incontrovertible? Ha! Then why hasn't Israel produced the proof and annexed them? Or even accepted the Levy report? And why does Israel call the territories disputed?
54. #30 You "can't go back again"??
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (07.18.13)
Gee, I guess it's a good thing we didn't listen to the Palestinian Arabs when they told us the same thing before we declared independence....
55. #11
aaron ,   toronto,canada   (07.18.13)
If everybody as you claim boycotts Israel how many people will die around the world for lack of proper medicine or be able to communicate for lack of high tech? maybe it's a good thing that we won't be able to read your anti-semetic views.
56. boycotts and high tech
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (07.18.13)
First let me say that in my opinion, boycotting products that come from the West Bank settlements is just a poor policy being set to appease a growing Islamist communities within Europe. Second Israel is a strong producer of High-Tech and medicines and the largest producer of generic drugs in the world. This does not mean that these things are produced solely in the settlements. The EU is not boycotting all Israeli products. This is an attempt to destabilize the settlement region and hurt it economically. Yet I challenge the Israeli government to ask any EU person to whom did this land belong before 1945? How did it become part of Jordan? Was this land liberated or conquered in 1967 if the same rules are applied?
57. #55 - Tha answer is zero
spyguy ,   seattle   (07.18.13)
Contrary to your delusions, the world functions very well without Israeli technology, especially since all the technology you claim is Israeli is actually from other countries.
58. Hasbara peddler @ 55 ,...
split ,   US   (07.18.13)
You''re not exactly the most caring and giving nation on this planet so not many will miss your aid, same with your medicine and technological achievements, more hasbara crap,... Google 'Israel ranks low in international giving' and read what the Los Angeles Times has to say about it ,...
59. #57. Fact: Only U.S. has more NASDAQ listed firms.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.18.13)
Spyguy. Go to the toy store and buy yourself a children's spy kit. Your posts are ridiculous lies that don't fool anyone. Israel's high tech prowess is not seriously debated among anyone who knows anything about the issue. It is a fact that only the U.S. has more companies listed on the high tech NASDAQ than Israel.
60. So little has changed in 80 years
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.18.13)
Then it started with the Germans - today it's the EU. Same racism - somethings never change. Well I hope the taxpayers are happy in Europe - yesterday's stupidity just cost them 80 billion Euros that they were wasting on Horizon 2050. Which was based entirely on Israeli technology from Judea. Glad they are so rich. Now their entire banking system is based on our technology as well. That's going to take a couple hundred billion Euros to replace with 2nd rate software. Should be interesting
