1. If Israel won't abandon the settlements
Ivor Evenbiggergun   (07.17.13)
Then there is no meaningful peace process. If there is no meaningful peace process why should the European Union fund the settlements? Appears the only strategy the Israeli government has is to try and pressure the US government to pressure the EU by threatening to walk away from the peace process. Pure desperation
2. Mazol Tov Mr Elkin Stand Your Ground
(07.17.13)
Sir, you are doing the right and moral thing By Israel And it's people! It's High Time Israel told b.H.o. He and his Failed Policy's Arnt Welcomed!!!! This mr kerry Has Done Nothing but embolden arabs, now it's time To Show The World WHO CONTROLS THIS SITUATION!!! Shalom/Baruch Ha Shem

Benoa   (07.17.13)
Israel always gives in in the end, it just takes a few years of pressure.
4. That's what we'll see
(07.17.13)
I bet that when politicians will be hurt to their pockets they'll suddenly comply ! Kol Hakavod to Europe !!!! Keep up the work !
5. ISRAEL SHOULD NOT GIVE IN TO EU
JEWS FIGHT LIKE LION ,   LION OF JUDAH   (07.17.13)
Israel should go head to head with the European, and to tell them to get stuff. Should Europe decide to make more sanctions and making problems to Israel, then Israel should make more problems such as, take tough action against WAKF, palestinians who throws molotov & stones, let Jews to prey openly, and if the Palestinains starts any problems or intifada, send the IDF and give them full authority to shoot & kill. Cut Europe out from peace process.IF Israel needs respect, then BE TOUGH> and TOUGH WILL RESPECTED.
6. Hypocrites
(07.17.13)
"undermines Kerry's efforts" Yeah, sure, as if they are interested or still believe in peace talks. Who are they trying to fool? Israel is not interested in peace talks (any more), otherwise it wouldn't continue building in the Westbank, making any peaceful solution impossible. At least the EU has finally realised this. The question is now, how to deal with this hindsight.
7. Palestinian won't accept Demilitirized State
Zechariah   (07.17.13)
No way the Palestinians will accept or keep to a Demilitirized state and Israel cannot allow Jihadi World Califate or the Fatah Ba'ath Torturers into Judae and Samaria on the West Bank of the Jordan even if there are no actually new settlements.A Land swap with Islamic Israel going in as part of the Palestinian Peoples Funded therefore by the Oil Rich Islamic states is possible and economic well being is also a plus.Basically the Areas need be Massive Armed Bases for now and the Future to protect the Holy Land .
8. Ashton and EU don't understand Middle East Politics
(07.17.13)
Western politics is mediated by negotiation and compromise. Middle Eastern politics as is evident everyday is mediated by outright victory with little compromise more toleration. By taking this stance Ashton and the EU are putting back the day when a palestinian Israeli peace will be achieved as it completely sends the wrong signals. As for the 1949 armistice lines that too undermines the 1967 two state solution basis. If Ashton continues to believe that the Middle East follows the politics of compromise then Iran will have a nuclear bomb and the missiles to deliver it. And Syria Lebanon Egypt Iraq and the whole middle east will be mired in conflict for many decades encouraged by the mistaken and naive reading of eastern politics for what happens in the West.
9. ISRAEL SHOULD NOT GIVE IN TO EU
JEWS FIGHT LIKE LION ,   LION OF JUDAH   (07.17.13)
To make things worst, Israel should tell Europe you do sanctions, Israel will be very tough with the negotiation. very tough with the Arabs, will not let Arabs to visit al aqsa, all arabs workers will be sent home (no job for Arabs), and if the Arabs decide to make intifada, Israel should send the IDF with wild dogs and let them to do the job. European police are doing the same in demonstration in greece, spain, portugal, Russia, Egypt, Syria, Iran, Yemen, & others. by using excessive force, and blood was split. Now the time that Israel and the Jews must fight hard like Lion.
10. Demagogue Elkin.
Chairman Elzin   (07.17.13)
This guys with a belly and tennis shoes on the picture? Does't look as a Temple warrior. Or may be he's great diplomat and wise man? Doesn't sounds either. The chairman of Foreign ministry of Israel is waist of taxpayers money as well as a useless ministry itself. They should demonstrate some results, not declarations when it's too late.
11. #8 It's time to try something new after 4 decades
(07.17.13)
EU wants Israel to feel the pain of status quo. That's a novel approach which deserves a try in my opinion. At least for a decade or two, then we'll see.
12. Building in Judea and Samaria
Stan ,   Sydney, Australia   (07.17.13)
Please contact when the EU is going to do something about Turkey (who wants to be a member of the EU) doing what it wants in Cyprus and China murdering the Tibetans. I suppose I will not hear much as there are no Jews in those countries and 2,000 year old Christian European anti-Semitic nationalism fed via mothers' milk is totally anti-Israel and we shouldn't expect otherwise.
13. #2 Obama to revoke Stand your ground
Norbus ,   JERUSALEM   (07.17.13)
The biggest curse to hit America since Columbus is a Kenyan American Red Anarchist, Ikhwan follower, Obama has already destroyed the USA economy and indebted the unborn with enormous burden. Why can't Americans call for his demise
14. LET THE EU KNOW THAT THE JEWISH PEOPLE WILL NEVER AGAIN
stude ham   (07.17.13)
ALLOW EUROPE TO PUSH THEM INTO GHETTOS. BUILD ISRAEL BUILD!
15. European Citizen living in Israel
(07.17.13)
should I worry?
16. Look at all the energy curves for the islamic countries
Ralph Haglund ,   Sweden   (07.17.13)
Just about everyone, including Norway, have passed their peak production, and it goes down. Saudi, Iran, obviously Egypt....... And just when prices go up, the Israeli production will also go up, takes a God to fix that. EU gets much energy from North Africa where Obama has sprinkled the area with terrorists, so less and less reliable. Who can trust the gas from Russia? Soon EU comes begging Israel for a reliable source of energy, then remember how the EU behaves, like a part of the BDS movement. and price it accordingly Australia will sell gas from Israel to Asia, neat. AND - throw EU out of area C! read carefully http://www.think-israel.org/bringer.stealingastate.html how PA steals land from Israel, Bibi turns his back, they obviously use EU money. Block them completely from entering C. So many things a sensible PM in Israel can do.
17. Paroli, paroli, paroli
Gilda Cohen ,   Rome   (07.17.13)
Not only will Israel humbly cave in but it will also be forced to go into negotiations with Palestinians. Enough with bravados. If we don't do what have to be done, leave the settlements, we will face more and more embarassment and humilliation.
18. To All Commentators
Harold ,   USA   (07.17.13)
Swedish FM said "We respect interntional laws" so the EU is doing the same. I predict this sanction is a tip of an iceberg and more will come before the creation of The State of Palestine. Israel has to come down of its horse and listen to the world.
19. #18. Europe is on the wrong side of history yet again.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.17.13)
Europe caused both World Wars and most human suffering throughout history. Millions of Americans died saving Europeans from one another. Europe has lots of arrogance but no wisdom. European history is full of bootlicking tyrants. It continues to do so. It is on the wrong side of history yet again. Israel prevails while Europe disappears into a backward mob of Radical Islam.
20. Israel should start making sales calls on non eu
Moshe ,   Usa   (07.17.13)
countries in order to minimize reliance on stupid eu antisemitic countries that are turning into bankrupt islooom nations. Why do you want to serve these nations?
21. 16 - Who can trust the gas from Russia?
split ,   US   (07.17.13)
Russia is their major gas provider for decades and on the top of that if something goes wrong there's Iran, the infrastructure is already there ,...
22. #1, 4, 6, 11, 17, 18 Pay attention!
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.17.13)
This new policy demands in effect that "Israel deny - in writing - any rights to the Western Wall, Judaism's holiest site, as a precondition for signing any agreement with the EU. That's because the entire Old City including the Western Wall is located in the territories Israel captured during the 1967 war and is land Palestinians want as part of an independent Palestinian state.
23. Israel will not negotiate unless forced to
Mark ,   Cleveland USA   (07.17.13)
From the inception of the State of Israel, the Jewish agenda has been to take as much land as possible, by whatever means possible. The EU is doing what needs to be done to force arrogant, selfish people to consider the consequences of their actions. We Jews are the villains here.
24. #18 The world expects Jewish and Palestinian majority states
Sam ,   Canada   (07.17.13)
The world is not pressuring Israel to hand itself over to the Palestinians. The world supports a Jewish majority Israel. So, whatever victories Palestinian supporters think they are getting they are all for nothing if Palestinians don't accept a Jewish majority Israel. Palestinians prefer deluding themselves.
25. 'pushed us away from peace talks'
split ,   US   (07.17.13)
What peace talks ??? ,...
26. Prophecy....
yosef, phd ,   usa -israel   (07.17.13)
Tragically, this and a number of other posts here are a clear result of an unlimited Antisemitic & anti Israel petrodollar propaganda budget. Read our ancient prophets who have precisely foreseen the grave disorders preceding Moshiach's coming. Amen.
27. The EU is the one that is going to hurt
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.17.13)
Remember that deal for Natural Gas you wanted so bad, you have enough gas in Brussels. That is going to cost you about an extra 10 billion Euros a year for that. Maybe we should re-assess our sales to the EU - since it has over 100 occupations going on all over the world and not a very good human rights record.
28. On listening to the Euros - like Czechoslovakia in '38?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (07.17.13)
Europe talks about "international law", but willfully ignores it when convenient. Why, for example, are they ignoring UNSC 242 which they agreed to, not to mention their own commitments under the Road Map? The Palestinians have yet to meet even the conditions of Phase 1. And Israel is expected to jump to Phase 3 when the Palestinians refuse even to talk to them? No, they start with Palestinian demands, then when they're unfulfilled, demand Israel meet them, or else. Europeans have made a mess of the mid-East - Sykes-Picot, the British betrayal of their obligations under the Mandate, the arming of the Arabs while embargoing nascent Israel in '48, the abandonment of Israel in '67, the knee-on-the-ground surrender to oil suppliers in '73 and the subsequent embrace of Arafat and the PLO, the sheltering of Khomeni and abandonment of the Shah in '79, the arming of jihadists in the '80s, and the toleration of Islamic and Arab anti-Semitism since, well, forever. Years earlier, of course, the good folks in Czechoslovakia were pressured to surrender part of their land to Nazi Germany - in the name of peace, of course. And these are the people whose directives Israel is supposed to both respect and follow?!
29. Elkin, the Mouse that Roared
Michael ,   Haifa   (07.17.13)
"Elkin said that the Right will harden its positions if the EU continues to pressure Israel." The EU must be absolutely terrified by Elkin's threat.
