... and keep them safe.
2. Golani Shel lunoo
Golani till the end ,   USa   (07.22.13)
Thank you YNET.
3. I concur with #1 & #2
Israeli 2   (07.23.13)
But...I was expecting a more robust and stricter performance. If this is Golani, the best of the best, frankly I have been trained under much rougher conditions and my "drillers" were a hundred times tougher and rougher then these nice drill sergeants. Okay so I was a Tiger in Tigerland.
4. may they be blessed, and all members of Tzahal

as well as all services.
5. Nothing compares to USMC training
Al   (07.23.13)
Too much touchy feely blah blah blah. My younger kid in the tank corps tells of very poor leadership and discipline. Your only defense are the soldiers. They are your junk yard dogs. Only they can stop the enemy. May they all be blessed.
6. Golani shelanu
Jon ,   Haifa Israel   (07.24.13)
Our army is hemorrhaging funds, wasting water, wasting food, we need to stop cuts and stop the waste, we need to be in better shape for the Milhama ah-Ba. Petition the knesset stop cutting funds now! Before its too late, for our beloved homeland will suffer for it, and our children brothers sisters fathers and mothers will unjustly suffer more pain, we don't need another Lebanon!

The important thing you forgot is that the USMC as the rest of the military in the US is a volunteer one. You need different type of training for people who volunteered and people who are conscripted.
8. As someone who is in the documentary
Lone soldier golani ,   USA/Israel   (07.24.13)
Just saying that the camera crew was only there a few times and did not see all of our training. believe me it was hard. as for the USMC no doubt great soldiers but with that being said they come to israel to train and do urban tactics (I know i trained them) I think it is great that the army is a family and it brings soldiers closer we are gentle but fierce! 51 - respect!

Oren Aviv   (07.24.13)
It's the conscripts that usually get the harsh treatment and not the volunteers. Conscripts can't get out, volunteers won't advance if they are mistreated. There are plenty of armies who went from conscript to volunteers and they came to be easier on the volunteers because so many dropped out or didn't advance further.
10. #3: Who said Golani is the best of the best?
Dima ,   Baltimore, Israel   (07.24.13)
Golani isn't the best, last year they placed 4th out of all 5 infantry brigades in a combat preparedness test. The order was: Paratroopers, Nahal, Givati, Golani, and finally Kfir. I was released from the army last month.. I was in Nahal and it's well known throughout the army that Golani is a shadow of what it was during its glory years.

They should be shown pictures 2 times a day of the worst terror crime scenes . Pictures of Israeli Jews who were victims of terror. They should be drilled on what was done to their people and who did it and most of all the reason - Because they are Jews. I have been to Israel several times. Israelis never show hatred . They do NOT want war. They are good and loving people. That worries me. The enemy will always be there . Be ready.

Excellent documentary...and I'm so happy that I didn't serve in Golani. These Golanchikim are spoiled with their air conditioned barracks...although I would've killed for that back in tironut. Ahh, the memories this brings back. Can't wait for the next chapter!

14. risks of Israel
Fanatics   (07.25.13)
they risk their lifes for that country - this is idolatry. Israel is a bad place.
15. A few brave in a pussyfied country
Philippe ,   Raanana   (07.25.13)
Hats off to those few braves in a pussyfied country thanks to medias facts distortion and frivolous leftism. The country must pay tribute to its very existence wich was, is and will be obtained in fighting and winning.Every israeli must serve either military or civil-social services.Every draft-dodger must be PUNISHED by total loss of civil-social rights ; no more allowances for draft-dodgers, Serve or get out.
16. The soldiers are great.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.25.13)
I'd rather see commanders, leaders that bother less to be obeyed and more to uplift and motivate the guys.
17. 1 Amen,Amen ! ! !
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.25.13)
May G-D give you and all the parents of soldiers restful nights.

imagine the jews in europe had this kind of army in 1939-1945. if they did, then people like you, antisemite, will never have murdered 6 million jews in all of 4 years. you are a moron. israel is the very best place to live and be as a jew.
19. Fantastic
djisrael ,   Paris, France   (07.25.13)
This was fantastic. The only thing I would say is you have to be a really quick reader to read all the subtitles. They pass like a flash. It adds to the excitement I guess :) Kol Hakavod.
20. Arabs
Moshe ,   USA   (07.25.13)
My Hebrew is very basic, I am not sure if I heard correctly the mention of Arabs at minute 5:10 that was not translated in the subtitles? BTW interesting shot at the begining where the Army is going in one directions and two Arab kids on a donkey going in the other direction.
21. Ora #16: I can't agree with you more.
Israeli 2   (07.26.13)
So true. My Basic Training imitated real jungle war conditions. We stood guard among crocodiles, snakes and scorpions aside watching out for "Charlie". We were called the Tigers. However, there was no need for the rough treatment from our commanders, albeit only during BT.
22. Golani.....
pierre benattar ,   san diego usa   (07.26.13)
No women in the golani brigade ?
23. @20
Dani   (07.26.13)
He doesn't mention Arabs. He says Kotel Ma'Aravi which is the full Hebrew term for Western Wall. Maaravi means western, aravim are arabs. They do sound alike.
24. re: #5
yossie ,   san diego, ca   (07.26.13)
having family memebers in the US military the USMC may be better in close order marching and ironing there uniforms oh and learning how to twirl there rifles like batons that sounds so togh. A total waste of bootcamp time. The IDF trains to fight because they are always in a state of fighting, Hence they are experts in close quarter combat.
25. I just love them !
Patrick ,   Versailles France   (07.27.13)
Just to see the GOLANI tag drives me crazy, they are wonderful people, they are wonderful figthers, May Ashem proctect them as well as well all of israeli soldiers
26. Spoiled golanchikim complaining about their beds
Dima ,   Baltimore, Israel   (07.27.13)
Us nahlowim have to sleep on cots in tents for the first 7 months of training!
27. #26: Nahlowim lost big against Israel
Israeli 2   (07.28.13)
Didn't they?
