32. Europe's guilt trip
Nobody ,   Somewhere   (07.19.13)
Now that Europe is done stealing and raping most third world countries they reflect their guilt on Israel. Europe occupied, stole and destroyed countries such as India, Indonesia, S. Africa, Kenya, the whole of S. America, Congo, Angola, many more and now they want to tell the Jews that they have no claim on their own land. It's almost funny. Bunch of cowards.

Stephen Hawking's ill-fated attempt to inject himself into the Israeli-Palestinian controversy. Just as he absurdly chose to boycott the country largely responsible for the technology that enables him to communicate.... ha ha ha this just shows the weakness of this article in a nutshell....when he bought the technology he had to refrain from any crticism towards Israel....very bad defends against European policy....along with other inaccurate one liners...I,am completely not in favour of European Policy but this article will not make anyone in Europe think twice...

Noah Lev ,   Los AngelesUSA   (07.20.13)
Abbas and Netanyahu are all smiles tonight..peace talks will start again. Okay, so what. Abbas sees the writing on the wall, years of conflict, with no end in sight. Obama is a lame duck in one year and we Republicans may gaina the Senate and Presidency in 3. OUr party is solidly pro freedom and pro Israel. We dont want Sharia in our legal system or enclaves of hooligans. as in Europe. Israel now has 500 bombs..Iran zero. but getting closer. If peace talks start, the EU must reverse course...continue normal relations with Israel and the territories to show they want peace, and not a slow death for their Jewish brethren AND to make amends for their indifference during the Holocaust, when not one finger was lifted to help our people, except to shoot or gas them.
37. If Israelis Were Catholic, Never Be
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (07.20.13)
Israel cannot buy weapons from Germany, VWs yes, Poland bans ritual slaughter, while its sportsmen hunt innocent animals, with glee. Britain has the Argentinian Islands after decades, sending 120 warships. EU countries are wisening up over Islamic migration, bringing Sharia (there goes the neighborhood). It is about Israeli 6m Jews (1.3m children) vs 1.4b Muslims, and lots of children. Its about Israel's imaginary clout per the movie thrillers and fiction books vs the real Israel, miniscule size and even smaller popl ( bigger is better). The article hits the nail on the head..its about power..and Israel with its liberal antiZionist Jews ( JSt, etc.), also has an intra religious fight. from Kushner to Finklestein to Barenboim to Jude. (oh and T. Friedman), We Jews go in 100 different directions..thanks to Livni, labor, Haaretz, Peace Now. We finance the Obama campaign..to a fault ( Hagel, Clinton, Kerry and Powers). What do we expect from Hussein Obama ( where was he during the OJ acquittal?) This act by the EU is poor extortion. The Arab/Pales have prevailed on this one Israel acts like the loser in 3 wars started by the Pales and Arab world to exterminate them, as Hitler and the Grand Mufti used to say.both revered in the Muslim world. To Israel: clean up your own act. End the problem with the Charedi, induce 1m Jews to move there, pull your funds out of EU banks ( there are US banks), open up trade with other countries, (Christian) in So. America and India, and Japan. Let us counter this Arab tactic by vacationing in Israel or countries that support its survival (Canada). Not one shekel to the EU...buy calif wines and cheese from US. Never buy EU cars..buy Ford. Europe is still anti Semitic If Israelis were Catholic, this would never happen.

If by scoring points you mean doing the right thing then run-up the score by all means. The EU is beginning to put some teeth into their positions on the occupation.

(07.20.13)
I'm European. Born and grew up. We have been hearing that for about 50 years that Europe will soon be Islamic. Most of European Muslims are just like Muslims of Israel and Palestine. They are just normal people seeking a normal life. These Islamists are just a drop in the ocean.

I doubt if your amorous feelings towards the EU are shared by most in the UK or even most in many other EU nations. If anyone bothers to read the latest EU guidelines ( and I suggest having a few hours to read it thoroughly),it will be obvious that the real impact on IL will be negligible . As far as a more general BDS movement goes the " successes" have been negligible. In the UK BDS is mainly supported by those on the far left fringes , they are hardly a successful force in the UK! I recently observed the regular demo outside the soda stream store in Brighton, prominently featured on the PSC . Only 1hr from London, good weather and a University town , the demo attracted less than 15 people, most looked like they were on state benefits or unemployed social workers. Today, back in a more civilised central London supermarket ,in a area where the lefties read the Guardian like it was a bible, I observed Israeli products being loaded into shopping trolleys. Anyone going through the Anti Apartheid Movement archives now in the Bodeian Library will note how the AAM was determined not to be seen as anti white or even anti Afrikaaner. This was long before the era of email or mass communications and the movement had huge support across all sections of British Society. Today Outside a few fringe groups there is no widespread interest amongst UK public to boycott or even condemn Israel. The main Palestinian Solidarity Campaign may have an impressive website, but membership is low ,probably below 10000 and mainly centered in areas of decline , the Trade Unions, Churches and our failing Universities. To make matters worse the willingness of PSC and BDS to associate themselves with extremists like Holocaust deniers , hysterical Moslem preachers who rant against their host country, does little to attract middle Britain from Ambridge to Sainsburys. Poor Jim , Gracyek and others, you are doomed to fail because your hearts are so filled with hate against the idea of Israel. The AAM was never about peddling hate.
49. News flash!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.21.13)
Europe is dying. No one takes them seriously anymore. Frankly -- no great loss. Won't it be fun to see the Islamofascists take over Europe, one country by one. I hope no European will be foolish enough to seek refuge in Israel. We've been waiting for this moment, and plan to give them as much consideration as they have always given us. Which is to say -- none at all. Payback is a bitch.

I'm so very glad that "graczek" does not represent the rest of the United States' people. There is only an extremely small percentage that "graczek" represents. But I'm very grateful that he has reminded me to go out and get some more wine produced in the Galilee.

'EU boycott of Israel is just a cheap way to score political points' - So far it's a boycott of Jewish squatters in the West Bank, not Israel - 'responsible for the technology that enables him to communicate' - Why don't you check who invented and developed the technology prof. Hawking is using. Last time I checked Intel was US Corporation, the rest in this article are an outright lies, step dancing, mudding the pond, pointing a finger on the top of shameless hasbara crap peddling - By the way Palestinians don't build because they can't get permits including for drilling and infrastructure to provide water ,...
52. The Avoidance of Reality
R Davies ,   London UK   (07.21.13)
In all respects the EU is avoiding the reality of the situation. The real issue is not of the settlements, but of government. The Palestinians have consistently lacked government in the areas they have authority over, and as a consequence cannot credibly undertake to deliver their obligations under a peace treaty. Unfortunately for both the Palestinians and the Israelis, the EU as "Friends of Palestine" simply doesn't want to acknowledge that fact and their own responsibility for creating this situation. Israel could evacuate every part of the territory east of the 1949 ceasefire lines, and it would not bring about peace. The PNA remains hostage to the activities of every armed sub-group that could drag it into conflict with Israel. Equally using sanctions to compel the Israelis to evacuate the territories is unlikely to result in a popular Israel vote for open borders to enable the largely landlocked West Bank to trade with the outside world. But none of this matters because the well-being of the Palestinian average person is irrelevant to the EU, the Arab League & allies and to Palestinian leaders
