1. letter should be sent to obama
CJK   (07.22.13)
the eu action was encouraged by obama behind the scenes.
2. AIPAC could only manage 4 signatures?
Ivor Evenbiggergun   (07.22.13)
Looking seriously like AIPAC's grip on the hill is slipping as the demographics in the United States change. 4 signatures, Ashton won't be able to stop laughing as she pens a reply. The tide is turning I'm afraid, and the clock is ticking when it comes to the settlers and the settlements.
3. Hint: Congress critters are powerless
spyguy ,   seattle   (07.22.13)
windbags and the EU knows it. Since the EU is polite, they will simply ignore the congress critters instead of openly telling them where to shove their letter. The fact that congress critters even sent this letter further decreases US influence in the world because a large part of the world does not think that the Eu has done enough.

NYC Girl   (07.22.13)
Can't you read for crying out loud? These are the four who are the heads of a bi-partisan Congressional caucus...not the number of legislators who signed on to the request to the EU. But don't let that ruin your wet dream.
5. Abbas only argeed to talks after two thing:
(07.22.13)
1. Bun on trade from EU. Talks were in Paris and ended last week. 2. Releae of prisoners.

Most of the world is indifferent to what the EU does or does do or say as regards the ME. Perhaps the most relevant point is how relevant and important the EU remains as an institution that is respected and trusted amongst those who live in it. If you were to oberve nearly all opinion polls conducted in UK, France Germany and other main EU nations there is considerable sceptism about the whole project. How ironic that Pals and IL may end up having a referendum on accepting any agreement reached and we in the EU either never asked about the EU and if we are asked and the EU does not like the result - well just keep asking until we give them the result they want. I suggest you limit your spying to the Whales of the Seattle coast
7. Obama is behind the EU "Ban".Alone, the EU is unlikely to

have introduced this .
8. The EU Made the Correct Decision
Bob Cassidy   (07.22.13)
But why does the US always pander to Israel? What deals were done with jews after WW2? The settlements are deemed illegal by the international community-can anyone tell me which countries endorse the settlements? Pelau maybe?

Harold ,   USA   (07.22.13)
Before the end of last year the EU did tell President Obama and John Kerry that Europe will start sanctioning Israel if she goes on occupying the Palestinian lands which is against international laws. So Mr. Obama has nothing to do with EU decisions.

The US congress wants the Middle East stubbord mess be solved as soon as possible. Probably this gang of fours appose the congress idea. AIPAC's power is diminishing when it comes to Israeli occupation of the Palestinian lands.

The letters are a waste of time. Ashton is a radical Leftist from birth. She was never elected for anything, but was appointed to increasingly powerful position by like-minded people in the NGO/Eurocrat milieu. These unelected Leftists wield enormous power (and give themselves much material rewards) because the individual democratically-elected European governments have surrendered their sovereignty. As a Leftist, Ashton ideologically hates not only Israel, but America, free enterprises and Christians. She attacked now because she wants to weaken Israel to the point of destruction, before the Arab world implodes.
