Too political.

Michael ,   Haifa   (07.24.13)
Our money will go into more or less the same pockets
3. And neither of them recognize the STATE that pays them......
SAD day ,   for Israel   (07.24.13)
Nothing will get better in Israel for at least ANOTHER ten years. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
4. More pompous schnorrers with an expense account
Al   (07.24.13)
Good grief..divest yourself of the overhead and lean down. Your soldiers eat garbage while these overfed schnorrers are fed uber kosher caviar. The real Tzaddikim are your soldiers. These schnorrer Rebbes are nothing.
5. Voodoo
Sagi   (07.24.13)
Snake oil for sale, plenty of stupid buyers.
6. Mazal tov to the believers

8. Dirty POLITICS AS USUAL in Israel
Yehuda ,   Israel   (07.24.13)
Makes me sick
9. The people of Israel did not vote for these Rabbis.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (07.24.13)
When they are taking taxpayers money, the people should have a right to choose. No democracy there.
10. It's for the good of the State
Vered, Israel   (07.24.13)
This way, there will ultimately be a greater chance to eliminate the position altogether. Lau will certainly make the public angrier than Stav would have, and give it ten more years, nobody will be yelling for reform. They'll be yelling that we, as a public, don't need a chief rabbi at all.
11. Honestly
me   (07.24.13)
who cares about the "chief rabbi" in Israel? What they say has no importance to any Jewish group or single person (frum or not). It's just a circus of attention queens.
12. a tragedy for israel
Jay Abouaf ,   jaffa israel   (07.24.13)
13. Now I'm really DEPRESSED
MosheP ,   Israel   (07.24.13)
Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse.....
14. And now lets vote for the tooth fairy
Haim ,   TA   (07.24.13)
These 2 clowns were not elected by the people of Israel and neither do they represent the people of Israel, just another corrupt appointment designed to serve their pockets and egos
15. loud barks
(07.24.13)
Are there any specific issues that the talkbackers are so upset about because I haven't read one substantive talkback yet? And Al, have a little self respect and express your thoughts without sanding like you're in a bar.
16. a tragedy for israel
Jay Abouaf ,   jaffa israel   (07.24.13)
17. Nepotism Israeli Style! (ugh!)
Ana-el ,   Israel   (07.24.13)
did I tell you that the name of the new Prince of Cambridge is HRH Prince of Cambridge George Alexander Louis...no? so I am telling you now so that you will know that we are just as inbred as the goyim! Oye! this is less than good for the Jews....how will we tell them apart they are both dressed in black...oh dear gone are the days of the Golden Glima for the Sephardi Rabbi...tis all black, black, black I tell you! No I am not ADD all of those sentences are really really related...have a little think, drink wine and sort out how! ;-)
18. LOL :^(
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.25.13)
19. כי הסתיו חלף הלך לו
נושם לרווחה ,   י-ם   (07.25.13)
20. 9 what a silly comment
S Judah ,   jerusalem   (07.25.13)
This is not a beauty contest. The choice should be made by other learned Rabbis and should reflect quality of knowledge as well ability to inter act with the public. There is not one iota of evidence to suggest that these candidates do not meet this criteria. Contrary to the absolue rubbishy comments of some respondants. Rav Lau and Yosef are respected scholars and worthy choices.
21. Respected
taxpayer ,   Hod Hasharon   (07.25.13)
Out of respect for the last actual Chief Rabbi of Israel - Rabbi Meir Lau - let us hope that his son is a chip of the old block - recognizing that Israel is more than Bnei Brak and Jerusalem and that he is also supposed to be the Chief Rabbi of all of Israel, whethere religious or not. Teh next stage of the social process will come when it becomes clear to the public exactly how many billions are given to the religious offshoot extremists under the Kosher rip off schemes and how much they push up the cost of living
22. anyone got a list of who the 150 electors are?
Mr. Invisible   (07.25.13)
How does one get appointed an elector? I haven't seen answers to these two questions anywhere. Why isn't the process more transparent?
23. @22 I know that Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat voted
(07.25.13)
that was on the news last night. So I would call the Jerusalem Mayor's office and ask them.
