31. "No choice" is utter B.S. There is always a choice.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.29.13)
"No choice" really means the person saying such a stupid thing is a gutless wimp who doesn't have the courage to do the right thing. It is utter B.S. There is always a choice. Churchill faced far more pressure, to "make peace" with Hiter, than any Israeli leaders has ever faced. But Churchill had the guts to do the right thing. We are dealing with criminally negligent wimps, in the Israeli government, and they must be brought to justice for unleashing murderers against Israeli citizens.
32. Illegitimate when driven to a 2nd Holocaust
Norbus ,   JERUSALEM   (07.29.13)
No one envisaged a decade or so back, the nightmare scenario the Middle East is in today, thanks mainly to interfering Europe and USA, from Picot-Sykes to Obama Just as no one came to help Jews in the 1940's , so our leaders should know that no one will come to help us now. It is not rocket science to see we are being driven into centre stage of mess to be offered as the sacrifice on the alter Question for Government of Israel Fight or flight ? We have no where to go If Never again, why do we not stand up to modern day Hitler
33. Insanity
Shoshana Rubin ,   Nokum   (07.29.13)
This will only hurt we Jews and Israel. Bibi loudly tells world there's nothing wrong with killing Jews. The US will not help us with Iran. We have to do it ourselves. And what is the harm in being isolated from a crazy, violent world?
34. State To Be Hated By Jews
Ariel ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (07.29.13)
B"H - Besides the massive immorality dose the State administers to the nation with this, it's a blow even for their own democratic, read Hellenistic principles. In parliamentary democracies it is parliament, not the government that decides on amnesty issues. Furthermore, to the best of my knowledge, no amnesty was ever pushed through for one ethnic group only, namely regarding only Arabs, leaving in prison members of all the others: A truly racist act, in this case, against the Jews. Racist acts against the Jews have a long case history - and a name: anti-Semitism! Conclusion: The State of Israel reveals itself to be anti-Semitic and in its anti-Jewish quality it deserves to be hated by its Jews!
35. Beware of the grasshopper mentality
Martin SA   (07.29.13)
Beware of the grasshopper mentality Let us not minimise the greatness of our cause and our duty to our people. If the negotiators bought what Kerry had to say they should have stalled the talks on the spot. The present situation is untenable. Do we not have a charismatic leader that let us stand our ground and most important be loyal and supportive of our mission in the world.
36. The more Israel gives the more we will be pressured
Zev ,   Israel   (07.29.13)
and isolated. When we give in to pressure the world sees that we are weak and that their pressure works.
37. Drinking Too Much Koolaid!
Yoni ,   Shomron   (07.29.13)
Even according to your insane, demented way of thinking, why release these animals BEFOREHAND???
38. Israeli capitulation
Larry ,   Northridge, usa   (07.29.13)
A terrible pattern is emerging here. The palestinians dictate all the terms of the negotiations. They make all the demands, and give nothing in return. They trumpet the fact that they are calling all the shots, which only increases the bravado and intransigence of the palestinian community, and leads to more exhorbitant demands. Giving them the right to represent the Israeli-arabs will come back to haunt Israel. Down the line they will demand autonomy for the arabs, and their interference in Israeli domestic affairs will be accepted as normal. The separation of the west bank from gaza gives Israel tremendous leverage in negotiations, and a huge price should be extracted for allowing any connection of the two, no matter a road, tunnel or any other connection. I fear for Israel.Idont think Bibi has the strength or balls to lead Israel at this time.
39. terrorist release
kcyu   (07.29.13)
Bibi you lost it completely ,if you think your govt will walk Scot-free after releasing all these murderers to the streets ,you got to be out of your freaking mind man!
40. A little bit of proportion
Shachar ,   Eilat   (07.29.13)
There is no-one like Israelis to take a headline and forget to read the article. Firstly all the Palestinians to be released have been in prison over 20 years. That means they're going to released shortly anyway. Israel isn't handing out any presents here, not like they did to Hamas in the Shalit deal. Secondly, Jewish murderers get out after 10-15 years and a relatively high %age kill again. Yet nobody is complaining about that. Thirdly all our gov'ts have been wheeler-dealers, morality has never bothered them. Is it good policy? I doubt it, but that's what we're stuck with. It's certainly no big deal.
41. How's This as a Tactic?
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.29.13)
All the families of the victims announce that they are leaving the country claiming that they do not want to live in a country where the State is so callous about the memories of terror victims. Maybe, then, someone in the Government will wake up.
42. #40. Remedy is execute all "Palestinian" terrorists.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.29.13)
There is no excuse for keeping murderous "Palestinian" terrorists alive. Catch them. Interrogate them thoroughly. Execute them within 48 hours of capture. This policy would drastically reduce "Palestinian" terror.
43. Just dismantle the prisons...
m   (07.29.13)
and give them a doctorate (preferable in chemistry) when they are aprehended for killing Israelis. Well, maybe some money too with the doctorate. As for the jurnalist accepting so gallantly the "no choice" step, is just like accepting the idolizing of Moloch (I hope you know what it symbolized)
44. I would've preferred to freeze settlements
Andres ,   Buenos Aires, Argent   (07.29.13)
You are so cruel... you release Arab terrorists and murderers before they get an Ph.D in an Israeli jail. That's brutality! They don't have the right to be doctors?? (with your taxes, of course) Sometimes I don't know whether to laugh or cry
45. Israeli Arabs to be released
June ,   Westport, CT   (07.29.13)
Why doesn't Israel take this opportunity to take away their citizenship and deport them. I am sure that Abbas would welcome them
46. Lame Excuses
A Yid ,   Tel Aviv   (07.30.13)
Bibi didn't have to surrender. These are his half-baked, lame excuses. He could have fought back. As for international isolation, the same threats will be used on every single deal point in these talks. The arguments for this prisoner release support just as well an unconditional surrender. Replace Bibi now.
47. Insanity
Josh ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (07.30.13)
This op-ed is sheer lunacy. First, it is well known that giving in to terrorism and blackmail ALWAYS leads to more of the same. Second, why does the author believe that the PA is not a terror organization"? The PA has proven just the opposite, with its incessant incitement of the Palestinians (from a very young age) to violence against Israel. Third, the PA - just like the "bad cop" Hamas - has on several occasions employed violence as a tool of "negotiation". What makes the author think things will be different this time? Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. This qualifies the author of this op-ed as insane.
48. Decision to release prisoners legitimate
George Weiss ,   Teaneck, USA   (07.30.13)
Your arguments are utter nonsense because there were no reciprical guarantees by either the US, EU or the Arabs. The PA will be able to claim a victory and it will be obvious to everyone that Israel will cave in to the most outrageous demands,
49. Venting
Nurit Greenger ,   Los Angeles USA   (07.31.13)
Israel is trading land to avoid isolation Did Netanyahu and his cohorts chose to disrespect Israel justice system, humiliation and disrespect over so called isolation? Is that a bad joke or an excuse? Israelis have been ridiculed and Kerry/Obama are riding high and victorious; they won the initial battle and have brought Israel to her knees. Now they can do with Israel as they please because they locked the back door shut closed. Kerry already called it the "state of Palestine". For him the peace deal has been done. The sad part is that Israelis are in a state of delusion that all is well and thus are sitting around instead of rising up against this outrage! In fact, the entire world Jewry should be rising up, as the land of Israel was bestowed upon the Jewish people worldwide, it is every Jew's property and it is the National home for the Jewish People, by LAW.
50. Weakness
Tzvi ,   NJ USA   (08.04.13)
Obama keeps demanding on behalf of the muslims and Israel keeps caving in since Israel is so ioslated it must do whatever obama demands. Since the PA has not had an election in years, Abu Mazen's term expired 4 or 5 years ago and the Gaza terrorist leaders reject Israel what is the point of talking to people who have no legal authority ansd whose commitments have been proven time and again to be worthless? Obama is doing his best to destroy Israel one way or another.
