1. The real precondition to peace talks
Aharon ,   Jerusalem israel   (07.29.13)
Is reaching a common view of the history of this land in the past 200 years - how can you ever have peace when Jews celebrate independence while arabs celebrate "nakhba"? First agree on what actually happened forgive, and then agree to move forward in peace. But its not enough that Abbas and Bibi do this - this has to happen between the majority of the people on the street both Jews and Arabs. Then we will have peace. Until that happens the next charismatic arab leader will launch the next intifada and all the deal making was for nothing
2. Possible? Yes.... Likely? No
Jacob E ,   Holon, Israel   (07.29.13)
Lets put this a different way... is it possible and likely that we will sign a peace deal with the palestinians? Yes... Will the peace deal bring peace? Will it bring an end to the BDS and similar movements? Will it stop the villification of Israel and the people disguising anti-semetism in anti-Israel rhetoric? No
3. Sure peace is attainable...
Ram ,   London   (07.29.13)
..as long as Israel does all the giving and the Pals do all the taking. Even then, it can only be a temporary peace. We all know what the big plan is and how much the Western world cares about Jews.
4. Martin Indyk is far from neutral he's on the board of
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (07.29.13)

5. He is the correct man, for the right job
Sarah B. ,   U.S.A./Israel   (07.29.13)
His appointment seems to be the only good news coming from Obama bin Laden. Indyk has a reputation of being fair and balanced and he will give the right push on this bizarre process...
6. Before all else, we ought to recognize the core of the Arab
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (07.29.13)
Israeli conflict, something that too many of us often forget: The categorical refusal by the Muslim-Arabs - no, not by the Christian-Arabs or the Druze-Arabs, mind you!! - to accept Israel's very RIGHT to be to exist as the sovereign nation-state of the Jewish people on ANY parcel of land that is part of the Jewish people's ancestral homeland of Eretz Israel (Land of Israel). The conflict, in other words, is not only with the Muslim-Arabs of Eretz Israel/Palestine, although this component is there and it is an important one. The conflict, rather, has been with the entire Muslim-Arab world, all 350 millions of them who surround tiny six million Jewish Israel, in the Middle East and North Africa. And, the conflict is not about this parcel of land or another. It is about the very right of the Jewish people to exercise the universally accepted ethical right of national self-determination and independence on ANY parcel of the Jewish people's homeland. Once we appreciate this religious driven objection to Israel's very existence we can then suggest that the way out of it is by the application of the fundamental elements of international law designed to resolve the conflict: San Remo conference decisions, 1920 League of Nations decisions, 1922 UN Charter, article 80, 1945 And, the practical mechanism to do so is through the use of UN Security Council Resolution, 242, 1967, as is. Sadly, some are eager to "spit" at international law in this context and seek instead the easy, but impossible way out of the conflict. So, in the absence of a solution, one that is not likely to be achieved any time soon if this is how the conflict is handled, let the parties talk and through which talks perhaps design a better way to manage the situation, if not to resolve the conflict.
7. THOSE 2 TRAITORS WILL FAIL !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (07.29.13)
8. Peace is possible with total Israeli victory.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.29.13)
Peace is possible just as it was possible after WW II. Peace is possible with total resounding Israeli victory over "Palestinian" poseurs and their mass departure from our land.
9. "Peace" is true Democracy, Arab vote, in Palestine Israel
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (07.29.13)
...2 States, 1 Country.
10. Just Shameful, Kerry & Hypocritical -104
Justice ,   World   (07.29.13)
11. Peres was right about negotiatiations
avramele   (07.29.13)
As quoted by Michael Oren, making love and negotiations are best carried out behind closed doors. Give them time and quiet space and if a deal is proposed both peoples will have a fateful decision to make. For once their collective future will be in their hands. If the time comes may they choose wisely.
12. "It is going to be very tough and problematic,"
Israeli 2   (07.29.13)
for our PALS....(not for Israel). We foresee Israel's last "Zionistic" leadership replaced by upcoming years of "fanatic" greater Israel movements. This cannot be tolerated.
13. Indyk. An excellent grasp of the matter.
Gideon Reader   (07.29.13)
Yes boys and girls. there IS an excellent chance for peace and a two state solution. It is just that the present parties are not going to allow that to occur. If Indyk is refering to peace between Lichtenstein and Montenegro there IS an excellent chance of peace.. Between Israel and the so called Palestinians...? Not so much. But Indyk just like his boss John Effen Kerry, is like jock itch. Bothersome to contract and hard to get rid of.
14. Peace Talks
Syd Chaden ,   Palermo Calif USA   (07.29.13)
How can there be peace between two parties, when the religion of one of the parties calls for its followers to kill the other party? The Islamic doctrine of "death to infidels" is dismissed by Western leaders, but Muslims take it very seriously. Sunni and Shiite Muslims each consider the other to be infidels, and they have been killing each other for centuries, for that reason. That killing continues to this day, in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Iraq, Mali, Sudan, Nigeria, Libya, and Syria, to name a few of the affected countries. There can be no peace until the Muslim World renounces the Islamic doctrine of death to infidels. Western leaders lack the courage to confront the issue of Islamic religious doctrine, and choose, instead, to fantasize that Islam is the religion of love. They might just as well fantasize that there is a peace agreement, and forget about useless negotiations.
15. hamas friendly Yediot
Arie   (07.29.13)
The supporters of terror at Yediot now referring to Tel Aviv as Israel's capital not Jerusalem Now really, is this any shock? The ubber left pro-Hamas Yediot with it's headliner calling Tel Aviv the Israeli capital. " 07/29/2013 20:2507/29/2013 20:2507/29/2013 20:25 'Peace is possible,' says Indyk Kerry names former ambassador to Tel Aviv as his main envoy in Israeli-Palestinian talks; two expected to meet Livni, Erekat as negotiations resume
16. Israel captured the land from Jordan, not the Palestinians
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (07.29.13)
And since there's no evidence of "Palestine" as such ever having existed, who gives a sh*t besides the extremely naive and delusional Americans?
17. #11. Peres is very good at getting Israelis killed & maimed.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.29.13)
Peres managed to get 1,500 Israelis maimed and more than 14,000 maimed during his Oslo "peace talks". That is about all he is good for. Oslo victims should launch classaction lawsuits against Peres and Labor for criminal negligence leading directly to thousands of maimings and murders.
18. A healthy kid could bicycle across "Greater Israel" in 3 hrs
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.29.13)
Ah, "Greater Israel". Sounds like the British Impire, doesn't it? Except the British Empire covered much of the world. "Greater Israel" means the tiny 3,500 year old Homeland of the Jewish people. A healthy teenager could bicycle across "Greater Israel" in 2 to 3 hours. "Greater Israel". What a sick leftists concept!
19. Martin Indyk
Cipora Julianna Kohn   (07.29.13)
indyk is definitely not an honest broker. he sits on the board of the new Israel fund with avram burg and naomi chazzan. it would be difficult to find someone more left wing, more pro-arab, and less sympathetic to Israel than indyk. however, he fits perfectly the mold of obama's previous appointees.
20. pals really don't want a state
arne ,   chicago usa   (07.29.13)
of their own. sure they will put on a face that they do , but really they don't. here's why--a state means responsibility, it also means democracy-- it also means living next to Israel in peace and providing security. there's too many reasons why they do not want a state of their own, though I mentioned only a few. as it sits today they get lots of almost everthing from the world to sustain themselves, and if things don't always work out they can put the blame on you know who(Israel). if they get a state and it fails who they going to put the onis on? the're better of with the status que--maybe at some future date, but not right now.
21. The USA will soon fall for fighting Israel....
Baumann Yaacov   (07.29.13)
22. Bibi agree whit peace talks ,to bomb Irãn in this time.
ROSENVALD ,   Brazil   (07.29.13)
Bibi is not stupid. Syria not have power to fight against Israel. Hezboolla fight in Syria, and them dont will fight in the same time against Israel, and destroy Lebanon. Bibi got time whit peace talks whit palestinian to bomb Irã. After this,Bibi will never share Yerushalaim, and take out tsava from Jordan border. Bibi is not idiot. Is the price to bomb Iran.
23. Peace/Prisoners
Robyn ,   Canada   (07.29.13)
For the life of me,I just can not understand what PEACE has to do with releasing MURDERERS(prisoners). How can one trust any PEACE agreement based on that.
24. Israel's surrender talks begins!
Johannes ,   Norway   (07.29.13)
God help us all!
