31. I'm not very proud of my government today
Yossef   (07.31.13)
being an Israeli and feeling governed by Washington DC instead of Jerusalem gives me a bitter taste in my mouth. How long we'll wait for a non corrupted government?
32. #22 I met Nir
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (07.31.13)
I met #15 Nir a number of times over a cup of cappucino. When Rabin imported Arafat to Judea and Samaria, Nir said their would never be more bombings because Arafat would take care of Hamas. Nir was wrong. When Barak seized power, Nir demanded Golan including Eastern Bank be surrendered to Assad because Nir wanted to eat Humus in Damascus. Nir was wrong. Nir supported Barak and Yehimovitch destruction of SLA, saying that it would allow Lebanon to neutralize Hezbolla. Nir was wrong. Nir supported Sharon's ethnic cleansing of Gush Katif because it would strengthen Fatah vs. Hamas, and he mocked me when I said rockets would fall on Sderot and Tel Aviv. He was wrong. I do admire Nir for one thing: persistence. Until now his predictions have been 100% wrong, and he is still not ashamed to make more predictions with a messianic certainty.
33. LIvni, who represents Gaza? PA or Hamas
Nora Tel Aviv   (07.31.13)
How can you sign an accord that includes Gaza as long as Hamas represents Gaza and not the PA ?
34. to # 32 Israeli, Israeli
Muna ,   Doha   (07.31.13)
Your view goes along with the majority here. So, I can assume you are wrong in a series of thoughts too; 1. When Rabin imported Rabin to the WB there was a clear commitment to the creation of the State of Palestine. Instead, the settlements only grew. Hamas reacted to this. How could they favor peace if settlements were growing? You are wrong here. 2. The return of Golan to Syria has always been the easiest track in the negotiations. It only didn't happen in 2000 because Assad father died. Israelis are so sure to return the Heights that after 45 years there are fewer than 20.000 people... Nir is right: Golan does not belong to Israel. 3. SLA was not destroyed by Israel. Just look at the alliance of Nasrallah and the Christians today. You made the wrong assumption. Nir is innocent. 4. Withdraw of Gaza was the correct move. It was stolen land. You cannot chose your neighbors. If you don't like Hamas act like sovereign states do: declare war, don't occupy with civilians. Just imagine if all countries in the world would invade the neighbours and create civilian colonies with the argument of security.... craziness. Nir is right in supporting peace. You are wrong in supporting the occupation. Nir represents the Israel the world wants to embrace. You represent the Israel the world detests and despises. Nir represents the future. You represent the past.
35. Peace
Walid ,   Spain   (07.31.13)
I have been following up these peace charades since 30 years. It is a joke and a farce. Nothing else but to please the US after failing badly in the Arab world and Afghanistan. Peace is simple. A comprehensive deal was made in Oslo exactly 20 years ago by almost the same negotiators. So why waste time. If you really mean it this time, just implement the Oslo accords.
36. #32 Muna, Israeli future is with the East.
Michael ,   California, USA   (07.31.13)
Many old Israelis have this Western obsession and are stuck there. The future will prove them wrong, one way or another. You and Nir see the future correctly as it is unavoidable.
