1. Haredim
Grznt TG ,   Russia   (07.31.13)
I visit Israel and see first hand how awfull Haredi people behave. They hate true God!
2. Desecrating Shabbat is far worse
Zalman   (07.31.13)
3. More careful reporting
Dan L'Kaf Zchut   (07.31.13)
Before judgements are made please check the facts. These people do not look like any Chareidim I have seen. No peyot, short skirt with no Sheitel.
4. Haredi culture must change
Dan   (07.31.13)
How many times has every resident of Israel come up against Haredim who behave badly, ignore laws and claim special rights, and respond to every criticism with arrogance? This cannot be tolerated in democratic society. Haredi culture must be investigated, their attitudes questioned and the reasons for their arrogance exposed – and then they must be made to change.
5. Desercration of IDF Monument
Gidon Katz ,   Askelon Israel   (07.31.13)
You should lay a charge againts the adults in the group What a disgraseful disregard to the memory of the IDF soldiers. Busha!
6. wrong #2. desecrating shabbat is NOT worse
ari ,   israel   (07.31.13)
unless you flaunt it in public. Desecrating the souls of people that died and jumping all over their memorial is MUCH WORSE. there is no Judaism without first respect for ones fellow man, AFTER that comes god. first "ben adam lehavero" THEN "ben adam lamakom" great learned jew that you are
7. #2, you are absolutely wrong!
shloime ,   toronto, canada   (07.31.13)
the temple was destroyed by sin'at hinam, not desecration of shabbat. "kol yisrael areivim ze la'ze" doesn't differentiate between hareidim and seculars.
8. very sad but im not surprised
Henri ,   toronto   (07.31.13)
9. what equals Chareidi?
More Anti-Chareidi b   (07.31.13)
Before you judge what proof do you have these were Chareidim. They do not look like Chareidim I ever saw. They have no Peyos- the kids are half naked. The women is wearing a short skirt and a scarf. Not traditional Chareidi clothes. The last time one of these stories came up it was proven to be completely false.
10. stupid, totalitarian view of life
jay abouaf ,   jaffa israel   (07.31.13)
people want to play in water you want to crucify them ? !!! relax
11. Holiday Time for Haridim
Arielush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (07.31.13)
This period of time is holiday time for Haridim. They come out of their dark libraries and Yeshivot and behave like the country belongs to them. On the Golan it can be a real invasion. They come onto our kibbutzim and use our private gardens and our garden furniture for their picnics. Some have even come up to my house and asked permission to use my bathroom. This year perhaps they'll demand we dress modestly.
12. Agreeing with #3
Joshua ,   Miami   (07.31.13)
If this is the photo of the "desecration," the term "Haredi" seems misplaced and inciting. The women are wearing skirts and the man has a short-cropped beard. But that is not "Haredi garb." The people here are disrespectful - on that we can agree. But Haredi? doesn't look like it.
13. Life goes on
Hugh Levenbach ,   Hadera Israel   (07.31.13)
I see no problem in this. In fact I think it is a blessing, that people should play and enjoy themselves every where. Maybe all monuments should be designed to provide place for people to play. Life goes on. Play and enjoyment do not imply disrespect.
14. Don't look like Chareidim to me...
Shmilfke ,   Vancouver   (07.31.13)
These definitely don't look like Chareidim to me - judging by their dress and lack of peyos. Plus, we all know plenty of very very secular Israelis who would gladly do the same thing and who have defiled IDF monuments in the past. But that's not the point. This family was doing something really stupid and wrong and it's a horrible example to their kids.
15. Wait, they pay taxes?!?!???
M. Martin ,   NYC/Tel-Aviv   (07.31.13)
" The haredi father said, 'we pay taxes, we can do whatever we want.'"" Oh, REALLY?!?!???
16. Every picture tells a story
Arielush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (07.31.13)
Agree with 3. This is bad reporting. If this is a picture of the desecration, then these are not Haridim. Haridim would stone people for dressing this way. But I still stick by my original letter. Released from their Yeshivot they do often behave quite badly and dangerously.
17. If I am ever memorialized
Ethan Schwartz ,   Eilat   (07.31.13)
I want children and families to laugh and play in my memory. Harady and secular.
18. If I Was One Of The Victims And Watching From Above
Ariel ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (07.31.13)
B"H - If I was one of the victims of the helicopter crash and watching Jewish children playing in the pond of my memorial from Heaven, I'd smile and would be very pleased: We live and we will keep on living, I'd think to myself, with satisfaction.
19. Besides
Ariel ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (07.31.13)
B"H - Besides, IDF monuments are not "secred" and therefore cannot be "desecrated".
20. DEPORT THEM OUT TO GAZA, NOW.
Nowhere Man ,   Metropolis, Zion.   (07.31.13)
21. Typical disrespectful behavior from the harideem
Haim ,   TA   (07.31.13)
Quite clearly they have no respect for others, if they are not spitting on young girls they are disrespecting our soldiers who died in active service so the likes of the harideem can sit on their holy backsides all day doing nothing, these people are a total discrase , the sooner they are drafted to the IDF the better, one can only hope they will learn to behave like human beings .
22. On the comments, and reporting inaccuracy
Eitan Levy ,   Tekoa, Israel   (07.31.13)
A. I will join in with the others here that they do not look like Haredim to me. B. Not all Haredim have peot. C. IDF monuments are not 'sacred' in a halachic sense, but a monument to people who died defending you should command respect not frivolity. Would we feel that it's fine if people had a BBQ in swim-suits over the Rambam's kever in Tiberious? Of course not. The area around the kever is a place for prayer and reflection, for paying respects. This monument is a place for paying respect to the soldiers who died.
23. Easy solution for future bathing invasions of memorial:
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (07.31.13)
Build fence or slotted wall around pool to prevent kids from getting into it.
24. 18,19 Ariel: Children pee and poop in swimming areas.
Rivkah   (07.31.13)
There is a hallowedness that is a respect for the history of a place or an event, like the reflecting pool of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. I have not see photos of people sunbathing and jumping into the water with their children. There is a solemness about certain dedicated places even if it is not a religious holy site. If you listen to Orthodox Jewish Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn's "Message to America" in The Divine Mysteries lectures by him available from Jim Bakker Show online, it is the speech Rabbi Cahn gave to the US President Inaugural Prayer Breakfast in January of 2013. He tells of the harbingers or warnings of coming judgment on the USA that is similar to the judgment on ancient Israel before the Assyrians attacked and took the people captive. He speaks of the place where the nation was consecrated which is important for you to see the to the Lord, the area of consecration of a land is where the warning of judgment comes when the nation turns away from God. (The dedicated sites of Israel's heroes such as the helicopter pilot and IDF who died at the pool in Israel woudl be similarly sacred). The nation was consecrated and devoted to God at the site of the NYC 9/11 destructions. A lack of respect for places that are dedicated to heroes of a nation is contemptible. The Haredim should get a water hose and attach it to a sprinkler for the chidlren to play in, not descecrate and poop and pee in a memorial. Did children whoop it up and play in the brass laver of the Temple? Did children whoop it up and play in pools that are for cleansing after uncleanness? Do children whoop it up and play on the graves of memorials in cemeteries? Some do, but even touching a corpse leaves a person unclean. Do children have picnics on graves, whooping it up? Maybe some do. This memorial is like a grave not Disneyland or a public park. Leaving public pools that are not designated play areas loaded with pathogens shows disrespect for those who sacrificed all for the children to be able to have a nation that protects them instead of being slaves and holocaust victims in other nations. There is a solemnity of respect that is lacking here. It is like defiling memorial stones in cemeteries which happens in many countries if the markers are of Jews.
25. 20 Sure, all kids too. See [kids ...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.31.13)
attacked man] .or is desecration of monument worse than attacking man? Oh,i forgot, these kids are not religious.
26. 4 Sure ,Secular culture is an example
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (07.31.13)
of perfectionT here is a lot to improve in Secular culture, before they can allow themselves to give Haredim lessons. Moreover, regarding notions of humanity Secular people can learn a lot from the Orthodox . Orthodox people are neither far from perfect . Let us learn ,instead of looking for flaws at others, learn from their qualities.
27. #3 and agreeing parties
Jacob E ,   Holon, Israel   (07.31.13)
100% sure the people in the photo aren't haraedim. However, you can see this picture was taken by Arutz 7. I don't think channel 7 news would have been able to get out there and take this picture from the report of one family. Therefore, I think this is an old photo, used for the purpose of this article but not from this particular incident. This is something that should be mentioned in the caption but isn't.
28. again milsleading news
