Many bankers put profit before all else. Look at the misery caused by the actions of many of today's bankers. If they could have found a way to profit while the Nazis were trying to destroy England - I'm sure they would have. (Not all bankers are amoral - but many are and they'd walk over anyone to make a profit.)

Today's 'silly bankers' are still concerned only with making money, with little awareness of morals and ethics.
