1. Haredi enlistment
Lazerbenabba ,   London, England   (08.01.13)
I am pretty sure that many young Haredi men/women, who in the past due to threats of violence from their community did not dare to attempt to enlist; now however that it has become mandatory they are at least able to say that there was no other choice but to enlist
2. Great, good luck to the new recruits..
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.01.13)
Too bad no women aloud... I recall basic training in a mixed camp was a terrific motivator. Watching them stretch and aerobicize in the morning and evening got my blood flowing. I HAD THE BEST TIME IN IDF BASIC TRAINING ;-) Tenu Kavod L'Tzahal...
3. Kol Hacavod
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (08.01.13)
It sad that a positive story about haredim gets one comment and a negative one about a seemingly unstable haredi from a know extremist faction of haredim trying to offer his services as a "spy" gets many. I guess no matter what they do the people only want blood!
4. I am a proud father of a Tank Commander in the IDF
Al   (08.01.13)
I will always have pride in my son. Its the political echelon I find most troublesome.

Dual nationality is commonplace. Israel is a country at war and national service is compulsory not so in US. I served with a British Israeli who after 3 years serving in the British paratroopers served in IDF. Get over it
9. Starting to earn respect, but still a long way to go.
Michael ,   California, USA   (08.01.13)
Once Haredi soldiers will start to make a difference in their communities and guide others to obey the laws of the country at every phase of their lives, the respect will be restored to Haredim in Israel. After these Haredi soldiers return to civilian life, they will continue to lead the way to improvements among members of their communities: they will learn a profession, become gainfully employed, treat every citizen in Israel with respect. Many thanks to Ynet for this positive article. It describes what I hope will become a movement. Ken irbu shomrei Israel, may you have lots of good luck in your IDF service.
