1. For IL and Egypt sake,Hamas must be totaly destroyed

2. a weak peace//a bit pregnant
tiki ,   belgium   (08.03.13)
A 'peace with only 50% of the people Israel is 'supposed to make peace with and of which 90% supports the mindset of the other 50%, meaning: the only 'right & just peace deal is the obituary of Israel. Israel should have taken a page of FM. Baker's book and say to the Palestinians.... "This is our number, please phone us if/when you're ready to seriously make peace"! The media & some politicians are (again) getting overly euphoric about peace when the Pallies have only agreed to start talking and ONLY in exchange for freeing murderers. This doesn't sound overly ''peaceful to me.
3. other dangers
elke ,   usa   (08.03.13)
The other big factor: How will Israel deal with a peace that requires them to curb the nationalistic, fundamentalist, settler movement when settlements are evacuated? Especially since there are IDF religious units that refuse orders they don't agree with, as in Gaza. These people revere land, not the state; they are loyal to their rabbis, not democracy.
4. tell it to livni
marcel   (08.03.13)
europe and usa will not attack iran or be out front on it incase israel does it and bibi is gravely mistaken on this point. Even if a deal is signed, the pals will violate it, hamas will fire more rockets and pals will increase their fire and gun running from the areas that israel vacates. as for international legitimacy is concerned, isreal has plenty of lawyers as well as power that gutless europe and even obama needs as a forward guard. In terms of demographics, the next 3 wars will decimte the west bank population and the rest will flee to jordan. Livni can look in the mirror with naphtali holding her hand saying how could I be so dumb to have offered concessions? How could I be so stupid>
5. I congratulate Riccardo Dugulin ......
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (08.03.13)
for his excellent text. Arab Palestines must understand that bad leaderships and terrorism are the worst ways in order to build their so wished State. Israel may not be endangered. Peace is really possible, but aggressive and stubborn actitudes must be ended.
6. luiz #5
arne ,   chicago usa   (08.03.13)
I think there are enough Pals that really don't want a state. reasons being a state will require democray and that will put a lot of "bosses" out of business. They will have to fight the rejectionists (Hamas Islam jihad and others). the world will watch and if they fail (which I think they will) they will blame Israel (which they will) and it will be bloody. better they keep the status quo, receiving world support, all the bosses keep their jobs and most important their lives.
7. Democracy is Peace, 2 States, 1 Country, Palestine Israel
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (08.03.13)
8. #7, yeap just like democracy in WB Gaza...
Danny   (08.03.13)
9. #3, completely untrue
Danny   (08.03.13)
In 2005, despite huge misgivings the IDF, including the religious, evicted settlers. The number of refuseniks was in single figures.
10. Racists and bigots
Mark ,   London, UK   (08.03.13)
Where there is blindness to embedded racism all the other nasties remain unchallenged: misogyny, homophobia, political intolerance, sectarianism, corruption etc etc. Either you go for the full deal, or you get nothing.....and the price paid is a rubbish society where liberty dies!
11. There can be no Peace of concensus -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (08.04.13)
- between Islamist Hamas and Socialist PA. One must deal with them differently Arn.Sweden.
12. Truce not Peace
Zechariah   (08.04.13)
Only a Truce or Calm is Possible with the Arabs and it seems fair to improve the economic conditions provided security is not compromised .
13. #7 you don't get it
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (08.04.13)
You (and the Israeli Left) have decided to impose a solution on the Arabs "2 states 1 country". There is no Arab leader who has ever agreed to this solution. The two main parties in the Arab camp, Hamas and PLO/Fatah, both constitutionally dedicated to 1 united Arab country, cleansed of Jews. Both constitutions explicitly negate any possibility of Jewish sovereignty or presence anywhere in the land of Israel. Your proposal will have some merit the day that an Arab leader changes the PLO constitution to accept Israel. Until then, your words are meaningless propaganda.
14. Whats is Peace?
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (08.06.13)
What it is NOT is just a cessation of hostilities For us to build a successful State in the West Bank we HAVE to accept and embrace a close WORKING relations with Israel FOR OUR OWN NATIONAL INTEREST Its shooting ourselves in the foot to assume that isolation is better than cooperation With good relations we can act as a transit pipeline for Israeli Industry, Water, Gas, Agriculture to the entire Muslim World because we are nearby and we speak the language We have a workforce in the West Bank who could find daytime employment in Israel and boost OUR economy Working closely we could resolve the water crisis in the West Bank overnight and build up our Agriculture Working closely we could create joint Tourism Ventures, sell our Films, Books, Theatre, Fashion and Music to a large Israeli Arab Market...... Its time we understood that it IS POLITICAALY CORRECT to be friends with Israel EVEN WHILE HARD TOUGH negotiations are talking place for a Permanent Peace And we need our Entrepreneurs like Al Masri to take the lead
