The parents who leave their children in cars are not bad parents or child abusers they are just negligent. The driver test in future needs to say something about leaving children and animals in cars drum it into them from the day they take their first driving lesson. Make it mandatory that cars have stickers on the roof above the door and on the steering wheel reminding the driver if there are children or animals in the car not to leave them. In parking lots and on street signs have reminders. If a driver is found to have left somebody in the car unattended then they should loose their licence. Drum the message in hard enough and the problem will come to an end because parents do not want to leave their children to suffer and potentially die.

possibly a hate crime. Been around a lot of 3yr. olds and cars have'nt see one yet, open a car door, climb into the car close the door successfully and many of us haven't either.

A 3 yr old should not have been left unattended to begin with, but I can tell you that a 3 yr old is capable in getting into a car by them selfs with there small hands as my child can do it to.

11. Why some people dont lock their car.
Susan ,   KfarSaba   (08.12.13)
Sometimes people who live in small communities dont bother locking their car cause they dont worry about it being stolen. They dont think about neighborhood kids who might get into their car. I did it once when I was a kid. I got into my moms car with some other kids when she wasnt looking. Another kid released the brake and it started rolling down a hill.. The point is, always lock your car no matter where you are.

It doesn't take hours. A child can die from heatstroke in a very short period of time: On a 26/78-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar to between 38/100 and 49/120 degrees in minutes, and on a 32/90-degree day, the interior temperature can skyrocket as high as 71/160 degrees in less than 10 minutes.

"Just negligent?" Just negligent!? You don't think negligence is a crime when a child dies because of it? Are you serious? It is criminal negligence, and it IS a crime. Manslaughter, 20 years and no probation. That will put an end to the problem real quick -- not you and your cheesy stickers.
14. My great sympathy for all concerned.
Jrebecca ,   Modiin   (08.12.13)
There are few facts here but a few things I know : It only takes a few seconds for a 3 year old to disappear in an unexpected direction. Most 3 year olds can open car doors. Many of us dont lock our cars, sometimes by mistake and sometimes cause we dont need to. It only takes a few minutes in a hot car for a child to pass out. These parents, and the car owner, must be devastated.

It is negligence whilst I am not a parent myself I do know that parents do not leave their kids in the backs of cars because they want them to suffer it is because they are being negligent and do not think Basic things like a sticker on the roof of the car that will reminds them you got a kid in the back then take it with you don't leave it even if your only planning on going for a short time. They are also a very cheap and low -tech way of trying to get the message across.

You and I agree on just about everything. However, in this case, I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
