1. His requests sound more than reasonable. Why the fuss?
Lee ,   NY, USA   (08.12.13)
2. Why shouldn't Dermer be allowed
Robert Haymond ,   Teko'a, Israel   (08.12.13)
to choose his own staff to work with given that we trust him enough to continue his all important work in Washington, DC? And he's right, with five children, he needs a domicile spacious enough to fit them all in. Furthermore, school begins in September so if we want him as ambassador let's assist his family as well. Here's Ynet preaching, looking for a story with an edge, must be a slow news day.
3. Dermer solution
Robert ,   New Jersey, USA   (08.12.13)
Just let the incoming Ambassador come early as a private citizen to get his kids situated in school. Then he assumes the Ambassadorship at the agreed-upon date in late September. What's the big deal?
4. Once again ynet looking for a story when their is none
Jason ,   Israel   (08.12.13)
Every request posted here in this article seems more then legitimate...meh requested to bring 3 associates along with him... If that's not allows then they can deny his request.. What's wrong with making a request... The guys has 5 kids and needs a larger place then whats current,y provided!! Do U want the guy to squeeze into a residence that's not large enough for his family?!! And he wants to start the school year on time rather then coming a month late.!! YNET get a life!!
5. Seems like Itamar has issues not Dremer
Nachman   (08.12.13)
Dremer has legitimate requests. Schooling for children etc... Itamar stop being a baby stop crying over nothing.
6. Shame on the 'foreign ministry source'
Ehud   (08.12.13)
Just back from the 4 months strike with the complete manual of bureaucratic obstructionism which has brought the Israeli diplomatic service down. Disgusting behavior.
7. BETTER YET - LET OREN STAY
pg ,   Tel Aviv   (08.12.13)
Dermer is a primadonna - and has no more (or less) rights than any other previous amabassador. These demands (not requests) are over-the-line and he should be slapped back into place. This squeaky wheel shouldn't be oiled - he should be replaced. Find someone else Bibi. This is too important a position to have such a person. Everyone else deals privately with such matters - so should Dermer. His wife could go ahead with the children - that would solve his "demands" - but he just wants to make problems and noise.
8. maybe i'm missing something
Jeff ,   USA   (08.12.13)
but none of those requests seem particularly unreasonable to me
9. While he indeed is somewhat bratty
2mad ,   גולה בצרפת   (08.12.13)
Left will try to rip him to pieces - for he hasn't bow to "two-state" calf.
10. Future ambassador to US lists demands for entering office
George Weiss ,   Teaneck, USA   (08.12.13)
Dermer is right in that he should be able to have a staff that works with him, not against him. The current practice does not make sense and will certainly lead to problems.
11. Dermer Loves his kids....
(08.12.13)
What kind of animal is this? Thank you Ynet for uncovering this disgusting behavior. Now back to celebrating the release of Arab freedom fighters...
12. Dermer = BIG ego
(08.12.13)
13. Reasonable demands. Diverting attention from Netanyahu
Jacob Mendlovic ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.12.13)
You're diverting attention from the the most shameful act in Zionist history: The gratuitous release by Prime Minister Netanyahu of scores of the most brutal murderers.
14. ???
daki ,   israel   (08.12.13)
give him more recipe!!!
15. Who Runs the Show?
A Simple Yid ,   Beer Sheva   (08.12.13)
Dermer is the boss. These "leakers" are his subordinates, who should be supporting him, not stabbing him in the back. Dermer is entitled to have a loyal staff which won't undermine him. He is also entitled to come to the U.S. as a private citizen and enroll his children in school, before his official appointment, and to have an residence big enough for his family. The Israeli foreign ministry needs a good house cleaning.
16. Good for Dermer, he doesnt want any oslo deadbeats
hipocrates ,   earth   (08.12.13)
working with him. I can respect that and so can the thousands killed thanks to the efforts of these oslo stooges
17. Is this gentleman for real?
Ambassador's wife ,   Israel   (08.12.13)
and to the Americans commenting...ALL OF HIS DEMANDS ARE UNREASONABLE!
18. #8, absoutely right....
AVouskila ,   South America   (08.12.13)
But you see the fundamental reasons Ynet find it essential topublished the story, is BECAUSE Mr. Demer is a RIGHTWINGER!!. You see, if you belonged to Democratic party, Washington Post and Time, MSNBC, would just adore you,in your conduct amoral immoral over the top, but mind your steps if you were Republican. It is unfortunate, though Israel claims to be a sovereign State, it still is a province of one State in USA (not even Delaware). and it is mimmicking them.
19. Is he trying to get the sack
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (08.12.13)
before he even starts his job? Washington is no longer the cushy number it used to be now that the Jewish vote has declined to a bit part in the elections.
20. @18 current Ambassador Mr. Oren is a right winger too!
(08.12.13)
we all have words of praise for him because he's a good ambassador and a mentch! Mr. Oren was appointed by P.M. Mr. Netanyahu. Given Mr. Dermer demanding nature and behavior it is clear he was appointed by the P.M.'s wife...
21. Really?
Aharon ,   Holon, IL   (08.12.13)
Smear campaign?
22. let Dermer have what he wants - a great guy!
Shep Fargotstein ,   Memphis, TN   (08.12.13)
I met Ron when he was working for Bibi as Israel's economic envoy. He is personable, intelligent, articulate and dedicated to Israel. Any critisism in this article is just petty and insignificant. The man has 5 kids and wants them in school on time. He could stay in Israel while his wife moves to the U.S. alone, but who wouldn't want to help their wife and be with their kids? Give him a break. Oren was a great Ambassador and Dermer will be great also. The reality is that being the Israeli Ambassador is not what it used to be. Governemtn to goevernment negotiations no longer are conducted through Ambassadors. It is conducted dirrectly between heads of state and their staffs. More and more Ambassadors are in place to represent the government in the local media and to interface with supporters and critics.
23. It's YNet's fuss...
(08.12.13)
If this doesn't give people insight into YNet's yellow journalism nothing will...that's even too good a word for it...there's a lot I could say but if you can't say something nice....the yideots do a few things right, but devisive is their main tune and it stinks in times when we should be pulling together. Maybe the ones who can't stand the country should find someplace they like better...
24. Dermer...Youhave NOT HEARD the BEST fo HIM yet..
Sam ,   Naples _FL   (08.12.13)
This Guy will Destroy all what Oren has done..He cares less... He is in Safer surroundings..He will be the ONE Working hard to get the War going with Iran and the Palestinians.. BiBi knows this is the right guy to get his message across and ........... BURN..BABY..BURN..Let us have a WAR in the region..
25. I recently tripped across Michael Oren in Mahane Yehuda....
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (08.12.13)
sitting in a restaurant on Agrippas, in jeans and a tee-shirt. I think the rest of the customers were oblivious as to who he was.
26. The ambassador
Ralph ,   Rishon   (08.12.13)
Don't worry, he is "one of the boys" Bibi's gang, so his protector will make sure that he gets everything he wants.
27. @24 can Iran drop the bomb on u instead of on us?
Israel ,   Israel   (08.12.13)
after all Florida is a holy place I hear the fountain of youth is there. So with that fountain of youth in your back yard you'll be just fine!
28. Bad choice
(08.12.13)
The best ambassadors have been smart self effacing guys like Oren and Sallai Meridor. Primidonnas never work ought and a partisan pol like this guy is a disaster waiting to happen with the 2014 congressional elections looming. The housing request is reasonable but the exception asked in regard to diplomatic protocol is not a sim
29. The most important thing I learned in Israel
Mike ,   TA   (08.12.13)
The most important thing I learned in Israel is "mi she lo bikesh, she lo kibel"...or "If you don't ask, you don't receive". Dermer's "demands" seem very reasonable.
30. Hire Sarah as the nanny and fly with a plane partition.
Michael ,   California, USA   (08.12.13)
Did I forget to mention ice cream? This new bozo with the title of an ambassador -- I forgot his name already -- is a super hutzpanik. No need to bring him to the U.S. and start with a black eye on my country's reputation.
