1. Oh gee, since Hayedid.
Ypip ,   Canada   (08.16.13)
"The prime minister said that the conflict began before even one settlement was established."
2. UN,US,EU don't understand or don't want to understand
Sam ,   Canada   (08.16.13)
The world simply prefers blaming the Jews for all its problems. It's socially acceptable and the easy way out. So, rather than understanding that Palestinians reject a Jewish majority Israel it prefers blaming Israel for not offering enough concessions. That's true for the UN,US and EU.
3. For once.!. Peres defends his own country
Adi ,   Zurich   (08.16.13)
4. UN,US,EU don't understand or don't want to understand

5. Settlements
(08.16.13)
Regardless of where one stands on the issue of settlements, the reality is that those settlements could have been built on Mars....but it would do nothing to mitigate the Palestinian genocidal wet dream to remove the State of Israel from the Middle East.
6. TRUTH Speaks
John ,   Jerusalem   (08.16.13)
Even Prof. Benny Morris agrees. The Arabs by and large do NOT want a Jewish state. Period. What were all the wars about that they started? Not about this or that parcel of land. It was about the whole land and the Jews being here. Got it?
7. Dear People of Israel, if what the PM said
Israeli 2   (08.16.13)
to Ban of the UN is indeed as we read it, then why talk to these so called Palestinians? More appropriately I would ask: Why do these Palestinians even want to talk to us? It is then all a farce. If I were to be a Palestinian and want to have a nation of my own, I would not have anything less than the full right of return of my people and a military of my own. Why are they talking? About what? And Jerusalem was not mentioned? Is that a compromising issue?
8. What a bunch of hasbara "bull" Is
James ,   USA   (08.16.13)
Netanyahu ,as the world knows, is capable of saying any lie, no matter how how ooutrageous.
9. Comedy caper Friday
Reuven ,   Netanya   (08.16.13)
First bibi announced that they will pay students to be pro Israel on social media, now stating that settlements are not the root cause but not recognizing Israel as a Jewish state is? So what he is actually saying is "because some palestinians politicians refuse to say Israel is a jewish state, I am going to move jews into their neighborhoods, disrupt their lives making it a living hell, etc etc etc ... until they recognize us". How childish can a grown up be? When is everyone here going to realize that our policies have failed, not this year, not last year but the last 60 years. The time of finger pointing is long over due, stop blaming the palestinians for everything. When you blame yourself, you learn from it. If you blame someone else, you don't learn anything, cause hey, it's not your fault, it's his fault, over there. And that is what has been going on for years now, we can do what we want because hey we can not be wrong ... we are the chosen ones.
10. Where's his outrage of Releasng Terrorists?

11. I am confused.
Jonathan Kale ,   Udy, Scotland   (08.16.13)
When did these peoples become Jews and when did Israel become a Jewish state, seeing that the majority of Jews in Israel are European converts and the Arab Jewish refugees are just that Arab, Arab DNA peoples. What is the difference between the historical Hebrews, an ethnic peoples that lived in this land 120 B.C.? Are these peoples really Jewish can someone help me?
12. #9: Reuven
Israeli 2   (08.16.13)
Yes, we have been wrong for the past 65 years. 1) We allowed Jews with no Torah to run Israel. 2) We believed that we could coexist with Arabs...(perhaps with some). 3. We have not annexed whatever we won in wars. 4) We have not demanded the world move their ambassadors and Embassies to Jerusalem. 5) We have not declared independence from the world and their crap because the Zionists only "rented" Israel. It can be compromised. 6) We have been lap dogs all along.
13. #8 Are you saying Pals accept a Jewish majority Israel?
Sam ,   Canada   (08.16.13)
No, they don't. Until Palestinians accept that peace leads not just to a Palestinian country but a Jewish majority country too nothing happens. That is why peace talks always go nowhere. By now the UN,US,EU, Palestinians and liberal Jews should get it. Are they all that dense?
14. more craziness
elke ,   USA   (08.16.13)
Palestinians recognized Israel's "right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force" in 1993 - that's 20 years ago. They satisfied all diplomatic requirements, amending their documents and paving the way for the Oslo accords. The "Jewish" business never came up in treaties with Egypt or Jordan -- and in fact, no other nation does other than recognize "the state of Israel." It is up to that sovereign state to define its character. Trouble is, Israel itself can't define "Jewish." No matter how many times Bibi says otherwise, it IS the settlements, now inserting 600,000 Israelis in army-guarded compounds into Palestinian territory.
15. #8 Are you saying Pals accept a Jewish majority Israel?

16. Root of problem is Israel's failure to claim her land.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.16.13)
The biggest mistake Israel ever made was giving "Palestinian" poseurs hope that they would one day be able to steal our land. The second biggest mistake was pretending they had any rights to our land whatsoever. The root of the problem is Israel's failure to claim our sole tiny Homeland. Instead of playing sick games, Israel needs to claim Judea and Samaria as ours forever. Moreover, we need to make it crystal clear that if our enemies start another war with us, we will keep all land we liberate FOREVER. The days of "You Lose. Start Again" are over.
17. #9
Ram ,   London   (08.16.13)
Wake up!! The so called settlements occupy LESS than 2% of the WB!!!
18. Not Peres!
Bee ,   Beit Shemesh Israel   (08.16.13)
The article is about Netanyahu. Peres is only mentioned in the last sentence. He is pushing for a 2 state solution. Peres is not a friend of Israel.
19. Netanyahu doesn't get to unilaterally decide what's an issue
David ,   Boston, MA   (08.16.13)
If one of the two sides says settlements are an issue, then by definition, settlements are an issue!
20. #12 Israeli 2 a.k.a Dobermann (not lapdog)
Michael ,   Haifa   (08.16.13)
I have read many stupid talkbacks here in YNET, but I think this last one of yours deserves a Nobel Prize in Stupidity (were there such a category)
21. #4 Mars
Bob Cassidy   (08.16.13)
We all wish that you HAD built your settlements on Mars. The farther away, the better for the world.
22. #21 Read the article again or are you braindead?
Sam ,   Canada   (08.16.13)
The problem is not the settlements. That's your excuse. The problem is the anti-semites who can't tolerate a country with a Jewish majority run by Jews. Who do you think you are kidding?
23. Jerusalem
joseph effiong ,   uyo   (08.16.13)
Israel should know that if they bend to the pressure of EU to share Jerusalem with palestine, that their strength , right , God's promises, throne, priesthood, kingdom and kingship is also shared and divided which even the EU members are aware. Some EU members are Hitler's incarnate who are hiding in the corner looking for the fall of this God chosen people. Israel should not make a second mistake. May God bless His people - Israel(Jews).let the Zion praise the Lord God forever - amen.
24. #20 suicidal pacifist
Inna ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.16.13)
I actually support Israeli 2 opinion 100% and believe the stupidity prize rather belong to the suicidal pacifists like you...
25. One hopes Kale (#11) is just confused and seeking truth
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (08.16.13)
Jonathan's posting recalls the kind of historic nonsense propounded by the pro-Palestinian crowd. No, the majority of Jews in Israel are *not* European converts, and Arab Jewish refugees in Israel are *not* Arab. Contrary to his suggestion, genetics shows a close kinship between Ashkenazi and Mizrahi Jews, and the two to the Middle East. This is further confirmed by the "priestly" gene. Those who claim Ashkenazi Jews are really just "Khazars" ignore the fact that there is little evidence of Turkic heritage within the Jewish gene pool. Jews from Iraq and Persia can trace back to the first exile to Babylonia, more than 2,500 years ago. (Some also fled west into Egypt at that time.) The larger community in Arab lands actually trace to Jewish settlements across the Roman Empire even before the Roman destruction of Jerusalem. That there seems to be some genetic affinity between Jews and at least some Palestinians follows from a simple fact: Even after the Roman conquest, Jews continued to reside in the Land of Israel, whether under Byzantine or Arab or Ottoman rule. But life as a "dhimmi" under Arab rule was harsh. And over time, many Jews became Muslims. Many today are well aware of their Jewish heritage. These people are distinct from those Arabs who migrated to Palestine in increasing numbers starting at the end of the 19th century when Jews started reclaiming the land.
26. Michael @ #20:
Israeli 2   (08.17.13)
No Michael. No. Sit down, boy and learn. A lap dog or a lapdog is a servile dependent or follower...and that is how Israel was and is acting all along...like a lapdog. A Doberman is not a lap dog - Quite the opposite rather. Finally, I take the Nobel Prize and leave you with Stupid.
27. Thank you very much #24.
Israeli 2   (08.17.13)
28. n 11 confused
aline ,   Israel   (08.17.13)
Indeed you are REALLY CONFUSED. In which planet did you learn history?
29. #11 Your racist a priories are showing
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (08.17.13)
Your assumption that the majority of European Jews are converts is false as is your curious claim that Arab Jews are somehow really Arabs. In any case, to be a Jew is to be part of a "people" and not merely a matter of religion or genetics. It is true that there has been a lot of mixing (not always voluntary). That said, I suggest that you study recent genetic research which reveals that Jews from Arab countries have more genetic similarity with "European" Jews than with the Arab communities within which they have resided for millenniums.
30. Is a Jewish majority necessary?
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (08.17.13)
I do not understand why Israel requires recognition of its Jewish nature. Our Jewish identity is independent and maintaining it is purely a matter of internal politics. Suppose for example that Israeli Jews began converting to other religions in large numbers. Would they lose their Israeli citizenship? Would Israel cease to exist?
