1. They should live in their own community.
Eli ,   Israel   (08.17.13)
Everybody should have the right to live in their own community. I am not religious so I would not want to live in an orthodox community and by doing so it would just appear as though I am trying cause trouble. These Arabs have no loyalty to Israel and they want to see the Jews defeated, only an evil judge would force this treason on its own citizens. The community should all get together and stop this from happening. Do not plant an evil seed in your garden, it will destroy everything in the years to come.
2. @1 Eli, apparently they don't want to live in..
deavman ,   Acco, Israel   (08.17.13)
..their community, and they should be allowed to live anywhere they please according to the same rules that everybody must abide by.
3. Right wing extremists should be punished, not enough is done
David Clarke ,   Liverpool, England   (08.17.13)
Utterly disgusting, the right-wing extremists and religious fanatics who perpetrate these disgusting acts should be punished to the utmost extent of the law, they are the shame of Israel. But this belies a serious problem that exists within certain minority sections of Israeli society, that of racist extremism and right wing religious fanaticism. Not enough is truly done in certain Israeli communities to truly punish those who commit these abominable acts of racism and educate people in the arts of human etiquette, tolerance and coexistence to prevent this sort of violent racism rearing its ugly head. However well done in this instance to the supreme court of Israel for defending the rights of Israels Arab citizens to live were ever they want to in Israel without fear or intimidation from racists, right-wing extremists and religious fanatics who want to live in an authoritarian theocratic Jewish ethnocracy. Israel is a democratic state of all its citizens and belongs to all its citizens regardless of whether they are Jewish, Arab, Circassian, Maronite or Assyrian, Israel does not and should not belong to racist extremists.
4. Something tells me that if it was a haredi
Daniel   (08.17.13)
couple trying to force itself upon a secular neighborhood, the attitude would have been completely different.
5. Pure unadulterated prejudice and
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.17.13)
bigotry. Shame on the community and on the perpetrators of this action.
6. #1

7. Eli the obviously non prophet
Non Jewish immigrant ,   Haifa   (08.17.13)
Israel has removed entire Arab villages since 1948 and do not allow Israeli Arab communities to develop themselves. They can't expend and be prosperous whereas Jewish cities expend at will. Arabs are citizens of Israel and therefore are entitled to the same exact rights like you or any other Israeli. Not to allow them to buy some land on the base that they are not socially compatible is pure racism which has no place in a democracy. But this Eli I doubt you would understand. How would you feel if a French Jew would be bared to buy land or a house just because he's Jewish. After all some "real" French would also like to live in their own community. Drop the ethnocentric attitude Eli and your tendency to separationism cause it has no place in modern times anymore. You see, that's because if this kind of behaviour and attitude that we had two world wars in Europe.
8. What were these arabs expecting, a "welcome
A ,   Belgium   (08.17.13)
to our town" party? Seems like they invested in a good leftist lawyer to help them win their court case, for the sole reason of instigating trouble in Rakefet. And if one arab family is allowed to live in a Jewish town in Judea and Samaria...well, there goes the neighborhood.
9. Patriots
Ethan Schwartz ,   Eilat   (08.17.13)
I doubt that those who defaced the house served in any Elite army unit or even served at all. Acts like that are done by losers.
10. Absolutely correct. No loyalty to
DT ,   TA Israel   (08.17.13)
Israel no citizenship. Also Israel should have the right to withdraw citizenship, namely those Israeli Arabs demosstarting in favour of the Muslim Bortherhood in TA, as they are a 5th column against Israel. Hope they are on Shin Bets list.
11. Excuse me, but ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.17.13)
.... the day that Jews are found "socially compatible" to live in Umm al Fahm, Tayibe or any other Arab housing village .... I will listen sympathetically. Unless and until, no. Arab villages have routinely informed the Israeli housing authority and government that Jews are "socially incompatible." When, all of a sudden, does it become illegal for Jewish towns and villages to determine that Arabs are "socially incompatible?" If THEY can, why can't WE?
12. #11 Sarah B
Michael ,   Haifa   (08.17.13)
Could you please cite the cases (and their sources) and the number of Jews filing suit in the High Court against their being deemed "socially incompatible" in Arab towns and villages.
13. #5: you need a trip to Saudi Arabia to set your mind right
Frank ,   Los Angeles, USA   (08.17.13)
14. #11 Sarah..
deavman ,   Acco, Israel   (08.17.13)
I am sure that you are writing about your own experience and did considered moving Umm El Fahm but sadly you were made to understand that you were not wanted..I have news for you, I have followed your rants for a while now, and I personally would not want to have you close-by anywhere in my neck of the woods because intolerant loud-mouths like you make intolerant loud mouthed neighbors ..and who would want that... As for you, comparing Rakefet community to other Arab villages, I think you know very well that it has no bearing as to the rights of every Israeli citizen to feel at home in his/her own country. While I understand the needs of communities to keep unsuitable individuals out, abiding to reasonable standards should enable others to get in , religion, language, color of skin not withstanding.
15. @ 11 Sarah B.
Sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (08.17.13)
I just have one thing to say. Why can't we all just get along?
16. Sarha the "b" face of israelis
James   (08.17.13)
So far you're the most racists, bigoted, hateful person on the net. Get a life
17. #11 spare us...
Mike   (08.17.13)
...your brainfarts.
18. Extremists in your midst
Fred ,   Allentown USA   (08.17.13)
@David ClarkeLiverpool, What is the opposite of a "Right Wing Extremist"? because you are it, and by your words I can see that you, the opposite of "RWE" are spineless, blind, fairy tale believing individuals who should be taking care of business in your own country but you are ignoring the "Murderous Islamists" in your midst. You have no right to criticise another people that at least got the courage to expose those leeches among them.
19. Arab couple's home upscale community defaced.
Elsie. ,   Gush Halav.   (08.17.13)
I gave an opinion yesterday about the Mayor's racist solgans against the Arabs in Nazareth (opinion, ynet) and was treated to the most vile comments. But reading the talkbacks now on this article my faith has been restored, In a democratic society it is the right of the people to "freedom of speech' as long as it is done with repect, so thanks talkbackers.
20. I would like to see a jew trying to live in
(08.17.13)
Umm al-Fahm.
21. This is just embarrassing
Shirah ,   Raanana, israel   (08.17.13)
Shameful! After what we have been through as Jews when it comes to racism and persecution, I am appalled and embarrassed by acts like this and some of the awful comments here! You cannot judge the many by the acts of the few.
22. #4 it happened
(08.17.13)
A few years back the Hebrew University sold Haredim an apartment block in Kiryat Yovel. The same Leftists who are now cursing the Jews of Rakefet demanded the University withdraw the sale because they wanted to keep Kiryat Yovel "pure and clean of Haredim". The court later upheld the University's racist decision.
23. #12 please
(08.17.13)
Can you inform us what action the police, AG and courts took when rioters drove the Jews out of Pkiin, Lod and Sakhnin? That was a criminal case, not a civil one. The answer: they supported the rioters against the Jews. After that every Jew understood that there was no point in buying a house in an Arab neighborhood. You would not find grafitti, you would be dead or wounded and the police would refuse to protect you or investigate.
24. Agree with Sarah
Eli ,   Detroit   (08.17.13)
Abbas said no Jew, which he then recanted to Israeli, but we all know what that really means, can live in Palestine. Where is the world's condemnation of that? I don't see anything wrong with a Jewish community wanting to preserve its Jewishness.
25. Disgusting. Some Jews are racist.
Laila ,   Montreal, Canada   (08.17.13)
Disgusting. Some Jews are racist.
26. see how arabs treat Israeli neighbours
Yardena   (08.17.13)
Israelis who own businesses on Allenby st in Haifa constantly face prejudice from their arab neighbors by slashing tires on their cars, and graffiti them costing the israeli car owner extra expense just by parking his vehicle on his own business property. You feel sorry for this couple? check how Israeli arabs like to live peacefully with their Israeli counterparts then judge where the hate is initiated!!!!
27. #2 should be allowed anywhere they please
Leah G ,   Itamar Israel   (08.17.13)
#2- interesting... So if in essence people should be allowed to live where ever they please- why is it so easy to say JEWS may NOT live in Judea Samaria if there should be peace. Jews should be allowed to live where ever they want- all the more so in their own land.
28. #23...please supply some details for you claim
Michael ,   Haifa   (08.18.13)
When did this happen ? Were these Jewish residents of these places (or perhaps the Kahanists who were paying a little "visit") Like Sara B, you seem to be reluctant to supply facts...I guess that both of you work on he principle that the bigger the lie, the more likely it is to be accepted
29. Oy vey Poor Sarah B Israel USA
