1. Thank you, Israel
Osama Uthman ,   Bani Swev, Egypt   (08.19.13)
I used to mistakenly antagonize Israel in the past, making fun of it justifying it's attacks on Hamas as they're ''using Women and Children as human shields so that's why they die'' AT FIRST ...I found it laughable, but NOW, I find the same thing happening from these Mustard Brotherhood also putting their women and children in the front lines of their protests to gain int support. We should've supported the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip, had it happened this whole region would've been rid of these Hamas swine.
2. Just leave it alone.
Jacob E ,   Holon, Israel   (08.19.13)
Just like with Syria, the US and West should leave Egypt alone. They need to repeatedly state that they believe in the democratic process and hope that a non-radical government takes power not heavily influenced by religion. But other than that, do nothing. Israel can handle anarchists at the border. We have done it with Gaza for years. Additionally, we can attack anarchists over the border without needing to worry about international retalliation. However, the Egyptian army will stay in power for the same reason that Assad stayed in power. They have all the guns (or at least the big ones). The Egyptian army will get assistance from Israeli intelligence in Sinai to fight the militants there and they can just do whatever they want with the Morsi supporters in the rest of Egypt. All the fighting and killing just shows that Israel is not the source of the problem and gets some heat off us. But in the end, not enough people outside of Egypt will care enough to stop the fighting in Egypt. Just like Syria.
3. Usual behavior
Gallula ,   Netanya Israel   (08.19.13)
These European countries and specifically France do not understand the situation or do not want to understand it. Maybe, they get a deal with the MB so as to extend them in their own countries. This is what you see in many cities in France where we don't need to travel in Arabic countries. Politics are afraid of the internal threat and they are corwards.
4. This shows that the West has no insight to reality !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (08.19.13)
Obama is the Big looser and Idiot, how can He change, without loosing Face ? Only the Saudis seems to understand. The West is lost. Arn.Sweden.
5. Israel urging?
tiki ,   belgium   (08.19.13)
Count on the EU to do the opposite because of it!
6. Silence is sometimes golden
Michael ,   Haifa   (08.19.13)
...but our blabbermouth politicians and officials always have to be on the scene in order to justify their dubious existences. They are so arrogant and full of themselves, they actually delude themselves that they can "influence the West" on any matter.
7. we are with the people of Egypt and al-sisi
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (08.19.13)
the world does not understand the situation Egypt is in. Only the Muslim Brotherhood profits from the violence. and the more brotherhoods dead, the better for the MB. the people of Egypt and al-sisi would only profit from calm and peace. the west and Europe are way too naive to understand this. and the MB knows this. they even announced the day of rage and that there will be thousands of martyrs. how does the west not know this? the Muslim Brotherhood are burning many many churches, and raping and killing the Christian women. But nobody is mentioning that crime. it seems Israel only knows who the good guys are here. the people of Egypt better hope the MB do not get back into power, they will seek revenge and it will not be pretty. Obama has no clue on foreign policy. he should think of what to do, and do opposite, because opposite would be the correct thing to do. it seems like he's still listening to the evil Valerie Jarrett. big mistake
8. To # 1
Mike ,   NZ   (08.19.13)
Blessings to you and your Egyptian brothers . . keep yourselves safe and hold your heads high. We support you in your endevours to build a country free fro religious extremists.
9. Israel should learn to shut the hell up
Al   (08.19.13)
Never ever state your intentions especially when if comes to your enemies. Egypt will always be an enemy. The best Israel can do it shut up, firm up the army by getting rid of that loser Gantz and prepare for future wars. That is the only thing you can bet on. Israel will always be facing an enemy.
10. West should not neglect Egypt
Berk ,   Amsterdam   (08.19.13)
If Egypt becomes a sharia-state, westerners will not be able to admire that country anymore, neither can they enjoy the Red Sea. The EU can expect lots and lots of asylum seekers and Israel will be in a more insecure situation.
11. Only the Egyptian Army can bring about law and order to this
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.19.13)
important country. Sadly, however, some abroad who don't even where Egypt is can't talk and act but based on "politically correct" set of terms used in their parts of the world, but not here, in the Middle East.
12. To Osama 1 and Mike 8
Bikerwolf ,   London U.K.   (08.19.13)
Same blessings and greetings from the U.K. Saw a report on the BBC a few days ago where an young Egyptian lady being interviewed said the exact opposite of what the BBC expected her to say, namely that the MB were - in other words - a bunch of dark age fascists who needed to be stopped and put back into their Ali Baba caves. The BBC weren't amused and stopped her short. So what's new there then?
13. 1. Osama - Egypt
Raoul ,   Israel   (08.19.13)
Nothing is more convincing than experiencing a situation for oneself. Hopefully Osama is not alone in seeing the light - and the parallel in dealing with terrorism.
14. the pressure is coming from the Saudis
CJK   (08.19.13)
the saudis have warned the us that it needs to support the eyptian military. prince bandar has warned of serious consequences in case the us and allies punish egypt at this critical time period.
15. Israel could offer Egypt aid
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (08.19.13)
Then again it never puts it's money where it's mouth is. It will always urge the US to spend it's own money. The US should be concerned about Egypt like the Israeli's are concerned about Mexico. It is not our problem. We spend too much money in the middle east. We have our own problems at home. Obama is following the right policy, and that is focus within.
16. internal matter
john ,   toronto   (08.19.13)
This is Egypt's internal matter and everyone must stay clear of it. They are fighting for democracy in their own way. Violence must stop and the army holds no moral high ground. Fire orders should not take place. Lives will be lost and that will not help the country. It may take some time to resolve this.
17. Best thing to do
Jonathan Kale ,   Udy, Scotland   (08.19.13)
Best thing to do do is that these crackers get out of this Middle East and go back to Europe, it's not working, it's not gonna work. Israel surrounded by fire, conflict, lies and bloodshed.
18. To 16 and 17 You guys look at the problem the Western Way
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (08.19.13)
So does the EU and the US. This is the ME. Democracy here is not the democracy of the west. You cannot impose yr way on others people culture. The MB wont be defeated by tanking. Unfortunately bloodshed is necessary. Next coming is Turkey watch it. Erdogan is part of the MB
19. 17 I see you got the Palestibian Narrative. Go back to Europ
Ari ,   JEERUSALEM   (08.19.13)
This is the Jewish Homeland, whether you like it or not. Today Europe is even worst. The anti-Semitism has become unbearable. It so much anti-Semitic that the EU wants even to impose our borders, depriving us of part of our homeland. 50% or more of Israel's population comes from the Arab countries, where they lived thousand years before Islam or Christianity. We have as much or more right than anyone to live here. 2000 years ago we were driven by force out of the homeland, now we are reclaiming it. is that simple.
20. cooperation
michel ,   Ashkelon   (08.19.13)
Finally the Europeans and Obama cooperate in the world arena. They are looking how to sink Egypt in chaos so the peace treaty with Israel will be canceled. Nice new opportunities in sight for the weapons sellers.
21. # 9 How do you know it is Israel?
Really!   (08.19.13)
Because NY times says so?!
22. wrong report
Herman ,   Boston USA   (08.19.13)
read current Debka File on who is truly behind the campaign
23.  Israel keep your council .
ky   (08.19.13)
Comments from israel as to whom THEY prefer will not help. This is a matter that supersedes national boundaries. The aim of the insurrection in Egypt is in fact to destroy the state and to create a super terrorist entity in line with al qeuda policy if it can be called that. In order to defeat this one must look at the interests of the Egyptian and Syrian people and all those who live in the region. Any comments made should only be from the standpoint of how the situation will affect the population as a whole. War , conflict , destruction, poverty and hunger on a scale unknown will be their lot unless they clear out those who wish to bring the region to the state of post Nazi Germany. Europe should know what that means.
24. Is Obama at fault?
Yanky Pipchick ,   Baltimore   (08.19.13)
Didnt Obama backstab Mubarak? Morsi went in. Terror strikes against Israel (especially in the South( were on the rise. Having to close down Eilat airport, etc.. Is Obama not at fault? -- McCain etc are against the military. Is the West out of touch or just insane?
25. Narrative? LMAO
Jonathan Kale ,   Udy, Scotland   (08.19.13)
2,000 years ago you European and these "Arabs" were not driven from this land,,,,,, maybe a Hebrew peoples, but not you peoples, you just need to stop lying to yourselves, that/s why there is no PEACE and never will be, your own peoples even say this, so what do you peoples have to do with G-d, PEACE and the last days? The ethnic peoples lived in Egypt 400 some odd years, got along, loved each other, married, just look at patriarch Jacobs funeral in the Tanakh. the whole people(ethnic) demographics are not the same because these are not the same peoples today, a timely visit to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquites will answer many of your questions, that is if you peoples can go Egypt as freely as Joseph, Jacob and his brothers did.
26. World leaders, if you want Egypt to turn out as another Iran
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.19.13)
don't support the present regime in the country. But, if you want to avoid the development of another deadly Islamist country in the region, this time with a Sunni flavor, ensure that the present rulers of Egypt continue to take care of things and of the Egyptian people, who, by and large, support them. Please, please, for once, cease being naive about developments in this part of the world.
27. YEAH SURE AND ISRAEL WANTS ME TO BUILT THE THIRD TEMPLE...
ISRAEL WANTS A LOT ,   germany   (08.19.13)
28. Your officials don't say the truth.
Khaldoun ,   Ramallah   (08.19.13)
You want to see Egypt a weak country, thus you never want to see the Egyptian army succeed in their endeavor to secure the situation in egypt.
29. #4 The West under Obama's idiocy is lost!!
Isabella1709 ,   Tampa USA   (08.19.13)
The rest of us see things clearly. Now we must get the Muslim Brotherhood out of the White House and impeach that traitor.
30. WRONG WRONG WRONG!
A Caring Friend   (08.19.13)
Talkbacks #6 & 9 got it right. Israel should just KEEP QUIET. No matter what you say, it's just going to backfire. So for Heaven's Sake, JUST KEEP QUIET and keep your nose out of Egypts - and Syria's - troubles. Your job is to watch your own border, not "influence" anyone else's.
