Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.20.13)
...families, rather than rely on the rest of society to support them, considering such support "God's provision". Time are changing and you, my friends, ought to start making your contribution to Israel's defense, to its economic state of affairs, and at the very least, to the well being of your own off springs.
2. not smart move
lisa ,   israel   (08.20.13)
I am not Haredim and this change in policy has impact on everyone. Salaries do not change but the cost of food prices go up.
3. #1 Pure stupidity
Shalom Hartman   (08.20.13)
The majority of families affected by this decree are working families, struggling on low salaries as best they can. Lapid and his cohorts have got nothing to be proud of.
4. Absurity
Shlomo ,   Jerusalem   (08.20.13)
Since when is it acceptable to have as many children as you want- without having to take into consideration that you must provide for them? What absurdity to request that those individuals bringing children into this world, should take a second to think if they can feed those children before having 5 that they must rely on others to pay for. Take responsibility for the life you are bringing into this world!
5. This subject
Michael ,   Haifa   (08.20.13)
Everything said on this subject has already been said again and again and again...it has become quite a bore for both those in favour and those against
6. Change the law
Sam ,   London   (08.20.13)
To no.1 how can they work you not allowed to work if you dont serve in the idf
7. If you cant feed your little darlings dont make them.
Al   (08.20.13)
No one owes anyone anything. Israel has tons of problems, the least of them hosting a special interest population that refuses to do jack shit for itself. Schnorrer days are over. For those who feel they aren't getting their worth, move to Neb York, Boro- Park, Williamsburg or that high water spot Monsey and apply for section 8, WIC, Food stamps etc etc.. You will not be missed.
8. #3 Makin' kids should not be poor man's road to riches!
anon ,   Israel   (08.20.13)
That's not what we mean by "work" And it insults the wife as a profit-maker heifer Gov't should NOT be subsidizing larger familes with graduated stipends. You're the last person who should be shouting "pure stupidity"
9. Go work and stop your blasphemy
Daniel ,   TA - IL   (08.20.13)
He claims to be religious, however, ridicules the Tenach by making the proposturous comparision with pharo's acts against the jewish people... shame on him. Go get a real job and do not expect others to pay for your fun!
10. MK Rav Deri: If the Haredim hadn't bled the country dry ....
David ,   The Galilee, Israel   (08.20.13)
there would have been enough money for all, especially those that WORK! Some say that the term "Child Allowance" has a stigma attached to it and it would be better to grant a tax credit or tax deduction. OK, but in order to benefit from a tax credit or tax deduction you will have to pay tax. To pay tax you must WORK and in the Haredi Book of Demand Money WORK is out of the question. Maybe they think that "shokkeling" is work but they shokkel on Shabbat and that would be desecrating the Sabbath! Oi Yoi Yoi! The Haredim seem to forget that the Torah says: "Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed." oops! There goes the Shabbes Goy!

12. Child Support Payments
Jack Levi ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.20.13)
Just out of curiosity, who introduced the previous Child support payments? Was it Shas, by any chance?
13. Fair enough
(08.20.13)
Deri will never forgive Netanyahu from taking money from people who chose to have 2 or 3 children they could afford, and giving it to people with 5 or more children that they can't afford. And Israelis will never forgive Deri for supporting Oslo I, bringing death and destruction to thousands of Jews, thousands of new widows and orphans and thousands of handicapped.
14. No child support=3rd world country
Thinking Israeli   (08.20.13)
15. There must certainly be other ways...
robert ,   antwerp belgium   (08.20.13)
to balance the budget than cutting child allowances. A good look at some subsidies could spare money. Children should be the last to suffer.

18. Large families mostly exist in very poor countries
Michael ,   California, USA   (08.20.13)
If it is possible to call it "existence." Ask the poorest African countries, or ask in Haiti or Bangladesh, where people have many children. In India and China prosperity is coming along with reduction in family size. In Iraq people have many children but the death rate from violence takes the living away even faster. Israelis (citizens, not the government!) have a choice: be successful and prosperous, or have families with many children.

22. Mr. Deri, with all Due Respect
Israelit ,   Israel   (08.20.13)
You have a criminal record and are a crook. You have ZERO credibility. Get out of Politics, you thief!
23. nr 1 Qatzein
Madrie ,   spain   (08.20.13)
You are not talking very nicely sir. You mean we have to live to go into the army? sex, drugs and rock and roll is the life in the israeli army! You want other people to be destroyed?
24. to Slomo, Jerusalem
Madrie ,   spain   (08.20.13)
Is this how you spend your days, cursing other human beings? You ought to live your own life sir, and not the life of another person! You bring a shame on Israel.

And can't wait to share it with you ;) ,... Here you go ,... "Dozens Of State-Funded Rabbis Earn More Than 500,000 Shekels Annually; Many Do Little, If Any Work" Get busy ,...
27. Madrie, agree with Shlomo, he speaks for most Israelis.
Michael ,   California, USA   (08.20.13)
Do you have welfare payments for large families in Spain? We don't have it in the U.S. either. The responsibility for funding children lies with those who bring them to this world, as Shlomo said. Madrie, it's time to wake up, this is now, the 21st century.
28. Hareidim = Twisted logic
Vered, Israel   (08.21.13)
The Hareidim would have us believe that the entire existence of the State of Israel is thanks to their learning and prayers, but, suddenly, they are helpless when it comes to supporting themselves. It is WE who are cruel for continuing this scam. So, if you are so powerful that you can sustain an entire country's existence, then do the same for yourselves: pray for it. Or, does your claim work only in a situation where it can't be proved?
