The US economy is bad shape. Do you really want us to borrow more money from China to keep the Egyptian military in power? Most Americans could care less if the Middle East burns, just like most Middle Easterners could care less about millions of illegals invading American borders. It is time to stop blaming America for the woes of the world. If Israel wants a stable Egypt it should write a check itself and stop looking at Uncle Sam every time there is a problem in the Middle East. We spent 5 billion dollars a week for almost 10 years in Iraq and got nothing but sand in our boots in return. We have had enough. You can't build democracy in the Middle East, the people have no idea what is a true democracy is and we don't have the time and money to teach them . Let them sort out there own mess and let us sort our own out. Egypt is Israel's neighbor and a stable Egypt is just as much or far more in Israel's interest.

They failed in all their wars, starting with Korea and Vietnam to Iraq and Afghanistan. US strategic interest lies only in money and jobs for Americans. Wars bring money and jobs at home and who cares about the lives and destruction their wars cause. Obama is weak and he draws red lines only to move them just like chasing rainbows. The Middle East and North Africa are in chaos and sooner or later Israel will be dragged into this mayhem. Keeping Egypt stable and secular is a clear American interest. For starters, America needs uninterrupted transport of its naval forces through the Suez Canal, which will hardly be a given when the Islamists take over. Second, Egypt has traditionally been one of the stabler elements in the Middle East, and losing this bastion of stability will require that much more American presence in the region. Not to mention the huge breeding ground for radical Islamic terrorism this country could turn to, much like Afghanistan. Lastly, we are talking about 2 billion $ a year - a drop in the bucket compared to the useless war in Afghanistan. Yes, America could try the isolationist approach, but the large vacuum would quickly be filled with Europe and/or Russia, and this would be the first step in America's decline as a superpower. And TaylorT (or is it really Muhammad?) - there is no relation between Israel and the Palestinians, and what goes inside Egypt. Just like Hamas will not accept any peace between Israel and Abu Mazen, the Muslim Brotherhood and their fanatic supporters will not lessen their hatred of Israel. Besides, Israel has just released dozens of murderers as a peaceful gesture to the Palestinians, ahead of the negotiations. Maybe it's time you preached to the Palestinians?

The us has tried to bend other countries to its will by force for almost 70 years and has never succeeded. (2) the US does NOT have the resources to make war on Iran or any other country.
