1. Why are we making him stand trial?
Shalom ,   Ashdod, IL   (08.25.13)
He wanted to fight in Syria so drop him there with a helicopter and give him bread and water for one day and do no look back. Mind you, during all this episode, he held on to his Israel Passport which tells you where he is coming from. So before we drop him there, take away his passport and if his family does not like it, let them join him. Good riddance!!!
2. Very strange ! He didn't fight against Assad's forces,
miri ,   israel   (08.25.13)
didn't aid the wounded in a hospital, returned after only 3 days ! There must be more to this than meets the eye.
3. Turn him to Assad as good gesture
David ,   Montreal Canada   (08.25.13)
4. How foolish of him...
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (08.25.13)
He should mind his own business and care for his own life only... No matter where he goes in the Middle East he would never find a better place than Israel...
5. Zionism 101
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (08.25.13)
a. Take one Arab Muslim boy, brainwashed by overfed overweight imams and their Leftist yes-me, all protected by the evil IDF. b. Show the young Arab Muslim the glory of Arab rule for three days, a hospital filled with mutilated and tortured people, hurt by nerve gas instead of IDF tear gas, dismembered with a sword not pushed with an IDF M16, shot with a real instead of IDF rubber bullet where "trial" does not mean judges and lawyers, but crazy chechens with drills and screwdrivers. c. Bring the boy back to Israel to live happily ever after under what the imams and Leftists call "apartheid regime".
6. "Went to join AlNusra and all I got was this lousy T Shirt
Alan ,   SA   (08.25.13)
and a Shin Bet-Interogation
7. The Legalese not withstanding...he's very dangerous
Rambo III   (08.25.13)
Altala is not being charged with national security offences because his interaction with rebels did not constitute a direct action against Israel. Instead, he is facing charges of contacting and fraternizing with a foreign agent. His lawyer, Adv. Erez Abuhav from the Menahem Rubinstein Law Firm, said in response: "The events in Syria demand moral-strength from the Arab public – as well as the general public. The defendant acted from humanitarian motives. This case has no connection to maters of security."
8. I agree with #2
Maurice ,   Montreal   (08.25.13)
There must be more here he is not telling.
9. Not The Sharpest Knife In The Drawer
David H ,   Marietta USA   (08.25.13)
The dude is walking around with hundreds of US dollars plus Israeli shekles, not to mention an Israeli passport, in his pocket, and meets up with some peace loving moslems who make Al Qaida look like angels, in his own words. And lives to talk about it. Sure, this entire story is plausible. There is a hell of a lot missing from this story, and I would watch this imbecile closely for the rest of his life. Which isn't promising to be a long one. It also affirms my faith in Assad using gas and weapons of mass destruction on his "own" brethren. In this mad world, it would be really, really hard to make Assad look like a hero. The rebels, not to mention Putin and the Russians, are doing just that.
10. Less than Meets the Eye
Jake ,   Haifa   (08.25.13)
This is exactly typical of the low IQ, fantasist, pampered muslim in the West who dreams of jihad. He will be used by the Islamic terror organizations at first opportunity.
11. troubling phenomena among Israeli muslims
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (08.25.13)
Only a radicalized person would choose to leave family and safety to fight a war in a different country. Hope government put some effort to stop this radicalization among muslims in Israel
12. Wannabe' Jihadi gets call from Mamma, comes running home
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (08.25.13)
Despite all the tough talk about joining the fight and ultimately "turn[ing] its attention to battling Israel no doubt", this wannabe' terrorist proved rather gutless. Seeing a Syrian jet "We quickly fled, fearing they would fire at us." Lucky for him he got those pictures of his mamma and decided he didn't have the fight in him, didn't *really* seek martyrdom. So he's not dead, just destined to spend a few years in jail. At least his mamma can come visit him.
13. Maybe he was sent to spy
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (08.25.13)
And maybe this whole article is a way to cover up his spying for Israel.
