Syria is not the root of the ME's problems. The Israel-"palestinian" conflict began long before Syria got uglier. The root of the ME's problems is islam; nothing more, nothing less.

I could not agree with your point more with the exception that I think radical Islam, the shariah seekers, is imho at fault for the insatbility in the ME. Not Islam in general. But you live there and see it every day so I will stand down with opinions from far away. What I would like to read is your idea of how to fix the probelm short of the unrealistically obvious.

Actually devorah, its extreme religious fanaticism and right wing extremeism that is the cancer of the middle east as well as the entire world. Whether that comes in the form of Islamic extremeism, aka Hamas, Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda or comes in the form of the bible thumping evangelical Christian fundamentalists and Jewish settler fanatics in the US Republican Party, Tea Party, Likud Beiteinu and Habayit Hayehudi, all of whom believe god condones and supports racism and expansionism and smites anyone who isn't a right wing religious fanatic, the right wing religious fanatics live and thrive off of conflict, the whole world is sick of them.

There is an Arab Saying 'A bad Musim ruler is better than a good Christian ruler' - and of course the despised Jews as rulers are the worst to Muslims. Muslims will tell you that Saddam and the Assads who all murdered hundreds of thousands are 'common criminals' - but the Jewish leadership is of a much greater evil. Now what does that mean?

I don’t agree with everything they do, but their actions are on the other end of the spectrum than the actions of HH&AQ. Nice try. Doesn’t work.
