If there is an attack initially it will come from the sea and the use if tomahawk missiles. It will just be physically to hard to mount an aerial campaign until after a long operation with tomahawks because Syria has one of the most advanced air defense systems in the work which has always been the problem, as long as those systems are operational jets can get shot down and the loss of just one pilot would destroy Obama at home. Even if the US can ground Assads Air Force he still has hundreds if missiles that can fire chemical weapons. His tanks and mortar shells also have the capability of firing chemical weapons so Assad doesn't need jets to gas people and chances are once he is attacked he will feel has nothing to loose and use them on a big scale. The best thing for the region is to not try help the rebels bring down Assad because just like we saw in Iraq you take away the strongman overnight you get chaos which will come along with other massacres like when they decide time to settle scores with the alawites in a very brutal way.

If the west attacks Syria to eliminate chemical weapons it has to be willing to fight until the mission is accomplished and not quit in the middle,like what was done in the past.
