Al   (08.26.13)
trying to save everyone's ass. The American attitude towards the rest of the world especially the Middle East is quite simple. "May they all kill themselves and may god sort them out". That attitude applies to the Jews as well. PS to Israel ..only you can secure your well being. DO not believe one word coming out of Washington. They will never go to bat for you. Only you can secure your own well being.
3. Kerry
(08.26.13)
Is this the same John Kerry who prevented the US from arming Contra rebels fighting communists in Nicaragua? Is it the John Kerry who said the US should not fund terrorists to overthrow foreign governments? Now Kerry wants not only to arm Sunni Jihadis, he wants the US to be Jihad's airforce?
4. NO....YOU DON'T SAY
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS ,   SAFED OBVIOUS HOUSE   (08.26.13)
Tell me it aint so.
5. Kerry is a radical leftie activist
Pellyrand   (08.26.13)
His wife ketchup magnate Theresa Heinz has been pushing for global communism all her life. The West is now in a state of psychosis, you cannot believe anything Jay Carney, John Kerry or any of the rest of these fools say...
6. Obama, tell us about your Benghazi massacre
Devorah   (08.26.13)
7. To 2. What Israel has to do about this?
David ,   Kiev   (08.26.13)
In late 90s America with allies bombed Yugoslavia for massacre local people. There also Israel was involved? Israel has all abilities to protect itself, but no need to say that in this case America and allies protect or serve Israel! Nonsense! Stop to accuse Israel in every case! Enough!
8. Dear Mr. Kerry, Two Things.......
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (08.26.13)
1. The cruel Syrians are Arabs, as are those foreign peoples in our midst who are illegally occupying great chunks of the Jewish Land of Israel. They are the same people, with the same culture, language, religion and mind-set. 2. Rather than threaten the Syrians with military action, I suggest you sit down at the peace table and negotiate your differences with them. Is that not the American way you have taught us of dealing with our Arab enemies?
9. The last ones in the whole world to admit it...
A ,   Belgium   (08.26.13)
America. So what ya gonna do about it now, Oblabla, seems the red lines that you laid down have DEFINITLY been crossed. Gonna get more Americans killed now in order to save Syria from...Syrians, while at the same time pressuring Israel to make peace with other arab murderers by releasing even more arab murderers from prison and "discouraging" Israel from building homes for Jews in Israel? Hasn't the hypocracy of the US government gone a bit too far this time?
10. (*) 2. American , still rich materially, IS

morally bankrupt.
11. how many times can israel beg the US to strike syria
harold   (08.27.13)
this is not directly israel's businesss. if assad wants to kill palestinians, or rebels that is his business. Bibi constantly and pathetically runs to obama and congress, you've got to do something. Israel has a powerful military, it can do somethings itself. Shut up already.
12. For Obama, it's a 'Lose-Lose' proposition.
David ,   Hartford USA   (08.27.13)
The only thing he can do is back the UN going in and arresting Assad for crimes against humanity and then installing a secular caretaker government until truly free elections can be held. (No religious parties need apply.) Give amnesty to the army and to the 'rebels' and arrest anyone who starts trouble. Do anything else and the country is lost for the next generation as children seek revenge for the deaths of their parents and siblings.
13. legal
Matt   (08.27.13)
There is no time line for Turkey to in act the Nato clause for assistance. Turkey has been attacked numerous times by Syria from the Phantom to cross border acts. When Nato responds is not time limited. So the US can strike legally without the UN and while the moral reason is WMD attack, it may not be the legal justification.
14. Manufactured Outrage
Ron ,   Melbourne, Australia   (08.27.13)
You do not need chemical weapons to kill in the millions - it was not required in Rawanda, it was not required in the killing fields of Cambodia, it is not required in Darfur, and so on. Even in Syria the death toll from Chemical Attacks stands at around 2%. Thus the 98% of killings by bullets, bombs, mines , incineration, executions, etc is not relevant. You can kill over a 100,000 people, send 2 millions out as refugees, etc -none of this is a red line or even a pink line - but if 2% are chemical we will interfere. One needs to ask the question why!!! - this will inform us in all areas and perhaps might even uncover some of the double, knee-jerk, standards deployed in all political endevours.
15. Great examples of the left, EU, UN and especially obama.....
Calabi ,   Sydney Aust   (08.27.13)
Cry war crimes against Israel? Human rights blast loud when Israel was defending it citizens. Israel protect Jews,Arabs,Druze and Christians alike, the UN, EU and the world left blast and cry war crimes against Israel! Where are the same filthy voices now?????? Sure the "Obamas" must do something against Assad but overall lack of serious moral voices but planning a reluctant show! Israel with its low population cannot wait and depend on these evil hypocrites in any event of crisis. God bless Israel
16. Don't expect much from America
Mark Jeffery Koch ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (08.27.13)
Israeli's, Jordanians, Egyptians, and Saudi's should not get excited. What's likely to happen is what Bill Clinton did in response to Al Queda bombing three American Embassies in Africa that murdered 300 people. Clinton sent cruise missiles to bomb Al Queda training camps that were already vacated and all they hit were empty tents. Obama is likely to send cruise missiles for one or two days over meaningless targets and at the end of the day Assad will be still be standing. I hope and pray that I am wrong and that Assad's regime is destroyed. If this miracle could happen then Iran might believe America is serious about preventing them from getting nuclear weapons and Hezbollah would get the message that America is not withdrawing from the Middle East. However, the likelihood of this scenario happening is very, very unlikely.

18. Evangelist Walid Shoebat's August 27 email newsletter has
Rivkah   (08.27.13)
an article with the evidence that the chemical weapons were used by the rebels, NOT by President Assad's forces. The USA and the UN should not leap into the Syrian civil war unless chemical weapons depots are at risk and must be secured. By the way, why doesn't the U.N. use force to secure the billion plus hollow point bullets that are banned by Geneva Convention that former Department of Homeland Security Chief Janel Napolitano ordered? Let's secure those illegal weapons before pointing a finger at President Assad and the Syrians.
19. Osama "Nero" Obama continues
DT ,   TA Israel   (08.27.13)
to fiddle. If ever this was a demonstartion of zero leadership this is it and if anything does happen it will be because international pressure put the Presidents face against "the window " and held it there and gave the orders.
20. Mr Obama & American Admin: What R U Going to do about it?!
Son of Cyrus ,   UK   (08.27.13)
21. yes, there was a chemical massacre, but before
CJK   (08.27.13)
there was a continual genocide and the torture and rape of even young children. the psychopath assad must have thought that by taking children and torturing them and raping them, he would terrorise the population into frozen submission. in fact, the opposite happened. the parents, the friends, the tribes of these children were whipped into a frenzy of rage and hopelessness. they knew that all was lost and their only option was to fight on till the very end. we know that the rebels are not all saints, and we know that their jihadi helpers are scum, but we also know that assad did what he did from the very start of this rebellion because he is a sadistic and eveil man who cannot be allowed to lead the broken country of syria. he touched and defiled that which is innocent and precious, the little children of syria, and for that unspeakable crime, he must pay.
22. #21 to be fair
(08.27.13)
You describe war fought Arab style. Assad's forces did what you said, but so did Obama's. The same happened in Libya, don't you rememberhow Obama's forces raped Gadaffi? They do it so there can be no reconciliation, only total victory. The only thing you should be asking is why did Obama choose to side with the Jihadis who will genocide the Christians and Alawis of Syria.

24. jus ad bellum and the intractable syrian conflict
CJK   (08.27.13)
after two years of an intractable war, it is just and necessary that outside forces intervene and attempt to put an end to the conflict. what matters most essentially is the hopeless situation of syrian civilians who have no means to defend themselves against a brutal military machine which uses air power and ground power to strike intentionally, wantonly and with evil intent, the civilian population of syria. hence, the only hope left for the civilian population is the intervention of outside forces in this intractable conflict. only the intervention of a willing and duly constituted alliance of sovereign states can achieve a reasonable chance for success in putting an end to the conflict, or at the very least, to make the conflict manageable. given the assad regime's continual refusal to accept a diplomatic solution and given its continual acts of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, and given the assad regime's threats against other sovereign states, it must be concluded that a military intervention in syria by an alliance of sovereign states is a last resort in dousing the conflict with a reasonable chance of success.
25. there are fears that if assad falls, there will be a massacr
CJK   (08.27.13)
some fear that the fall of assad will lead to a massacre of the alawite and othere minorities byt the fsa and al qaeda elements. such a fear is always justified, although those in the fsa should know that if they commit massacres they would be denied all help, and in particular, all weapons. one must hope that the fsa, most particularly its leadership, will have sufficient control over their men to avert any massacres. as for the devils of al qaeda, they will always exploit any situation for their advantage. the alawites and other minorities must be allowed to keep sufficient arms for self defence until a new, hopefully somewhat moderate government emerges from the ashes of syria. this post is for my friend stephen/ Geneva.
26. Understand something
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.27.13)
If American and British foolish adventurism result in a single weapon fired at Israel ... well, this isn't 1991, and Syria is not Iraq. We WILL retaliate. Don't much care about any fracture-prone "coalition" that the United States may put together. Strange as it may seem to some drooling idiots in Washington DC and in London, Israel is in the business of saving Israeli lives. Just one Syrian missile on Israeli soil -- and Syria ceases to exist. Along, quite possibly, with Lebanon. Please understand that. Israel can genuinely care less about the drawing rooms in Belgravia or the townhouses in Georgetown. So temper your valor with a considerable amount of discretion. If a Western folly doomed to failure so much as touches Israel's security concerns -- Syria goes bye-bye. Obama and Cameron can, if they wish, determine the fate of Americans and British, respectively. But deliberately endanger Israelis? Oh. I don't think so. Israel very much has a say in that. Whether the U.S. and the U.K. agree with Israel's position matters not at all. Get it? Got it? Good. For heaven's sake! We're not your fricken' sacrificial lamb. Offer up Coventry. Offer up the Commonwealth of Virginia. But what right do you have to offer up the lives of innocent Israelis? That's right! You have none. So be really, REALLY careful. We will not sit by idly this time.
27. #18 Rivkah, they're trying to sell the Brooklyn Bridge
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (08.27.13)
Even the dogs in the street know that al-Qaeda/Muslim Brotherhood did it at the behest of the President....the most dangerous Western leader since Adolph Hitler, who also murdered millions upon millions in the name of "peace".
28. 27 Noodles: "You know who" ordered the attack on Benghazi,
Rivkah   (09.02.13)
too. He did it through the Muslim Brotherhood connections of Morsi in Egypt. It was supposed to be a kidnapping but some US Embassy guards were not told that and started shooting. The Muslims felt betrayed by BHO and killed the US Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens after raping him en masse. That happened to Jessica Lynch, too, and she had to have reconstructive surgery done on her anus. BHO thought a kidnapped US Ambassador and his negotiations to release him would make his poll numbers rise before the election. He has ordered US Navy ships into the Red Sea which is a trap. Long ago, Nostradamus saw a fleet of iron ships destroyed in the Persian Sea (Red Sea). Iran has Sunburst missiles that fly under radar like Cruise missiles that can destroy a ship with one hit if it is nuclear tipped. The Russians gave those to the Iranians. The US Navy ships must stay out of the Red Sea area. Pray for peace in Jerusalem so there will be peace in the world. That may be the only hope.
