OK, fair enough for commenters to feel that way if they choose to but if they do feel this much hatred and express it so freely, frequently and with so much apparent relish , is it any wonder that Europeans might have reservations about Jews living in their midst? I don't know if they do but after reading these comments and so many like them on Ynet over the years I think I definitely would if I was European.

Your modern European "reservations" (which were expressed in pogroms, calling us Christ killers, blood libel, etc.) began years before the hatred you see from many (not all). Those "reservations" have now become PC by using the word "Israel" instead of Jew. Not all the time, but most of the time. And your "reservations" are much the same.

I agree that hatred is a negative and destructive emotion that causes conflict and tension and divides rather than unites. First and foremost it's the one doing the hatred who is harming himself or herself in the process. There are people who unprovokedly express racist hatred for no reason and unprovokedly attack people due to their ethnic-cultural-national-religious identity. At the same time, victims who have been targeted by this evil usually express hatred for the behavior and identity of the oppressor or the bully. The victim has every right to feel resentment and anger concerning how he/she has been treated. However, neither the unprovoked evil hatred nor the victim's responsive hatred can in any realistic way harm the other person - hatred always harms physically and emotionally the hater and not the hated party. It takes a victim to make a victim. Anti-Semites in a sense are already victims since they carry withim them psychological pain and suffering. Not even in the remotest sense can anti-Semites be deemed to be mentally sane. That does not justify the evil intentions of the anti-Semites. However Dan, despite these fundamental truths, we must ask ourselves a question: who has victimized who during the course of history? Did the Jews victimize the Europeans for centuries or did the Europeans victimize the Jews for centuries? Who persecuted who? Who massacred who? Who oppressed who? Who has denied whose fundamental human rights for centuries? Remember two words Dan: CAUSE and EFFECT.

It is not victim hood as you stated (but living under AKZp you see this evry day). Just remember that the same anti Semites in Europe hate Turks as much as Jews. We have seen Turkish families attacked and burned to death in Geany by these grous. Let me reiterate: it is not constant victim hood, it is an unfortunate reality that hits both Jews and Muslims alike. The only difference is that when they hit Jews Zmuslims praise them or even join them.

How can Israelis/Jews be "colonialists" if they have 4000 years of history in Israel (Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria included) and legal rights to the entire land of Israel - Cis-Jordan, Trans-Jordan and Southern Lebanon up until the bend of the Litani river based on two legally binding treaties recognized by international law called the San Remo treaty signed April 1920 and the Anglo-American treaty signed 3rd of December 1924 in London UK? When in history has there ever been a "Palestinian" people, nation or civilization in Israel? The answer is NEVER - NOT ONCE. Not a single ancient civilization of the Middle East, Near East, Minor Asia, Persia, Egypt, North Africa or the Mediterranean has ever mentioned any "Palestinian" people, tribe, race, identity, nation, country, culture or civilization in a single document. Why? UK are colonialists in Bermuda, Gibraltar, Falklands etc. France has islands in the Pacific and the Caribbean, Spain has Spanish colonies in Morocco called Ceuta and Melilla. Russia has conquered much of Asia which didn't originally belong to the Russians. Turks claim northern Cyprus, Russians claim Chechnya, Morocco occupies Sahara Occidental etc. Get your facts straight - you're lying through your teeth.

In my opinion you are both wrong. All land is 'stolen' because land 'ownership' is ultimately nonsense, unless, of course you believe in a divine promise. The problem with that is that there are competing divinities. I happen to support the existence of Israel but for pragmatic reasons. Israel is a fact. It has no more or less legitimacy than other nation-states. And the same goes for Palestine if it comes into existence. That's good enough for me, but maybe not you.

Israel's right to its land is based on our history in it. Without any historical connections to it, our claims would be nonsensical. That's why modern Israel exists. Modern Israel exists on the premise that the ancient Jewish people and civilization - which originated in Israel, and was exiled for almost 2000 years across the Middle East and Europe, has decided to return to their ancient homeland of Eretz Israel in order to be free Jewish men, women and children, controlling their own lives in their national homeland of Eretz Israel. Modern Israel is the modern successor of ancient Israel. Modern Israel is meant to satisfy Jewish nationalism and our need for independence - that's why modern Israel exists - to once again live as a free and proud people in our ancestral homeland. Our claims are based on history - not on divinity. Human beings claim land - Divinity doesn't. With or without the belief that God gave us Israel 4000 years ago, history can absolutely attest to our historical presence and historical claims to the land. As usual - you either misunderstand or deliberately choose to misunderstand. Nothing new under the sun Bertram. As for "Palestine" it has neither a historical nor a legal basis for any claims to any land in Israel. Arbitrarily claiming something which isn't yours is called THEFT and is dangerous because it sets a precedent - anyone, any NGO, any government, any people and any nation can for any arbitrary reason, decide that they want a piece of land, and claim it - either through wars of aggression or political campaigns meant to pressure the host nation to give up its land. In other words: it's blackmail. This violates international law, it violates morality and ethics since it is nothing but theft, and it definitely gives mankind the impression that the Wild West or anarchy is the nature of the game. "Palestinians" claiming Israel is no different than Nazi Germany claiming Poland or France. The only difference is that Nazi Germany was a military power and the "Palestinians" are not - they are political pawns used by 300 million Arabs in 22 Arab states, as a demographic Trojan Horse to destroy Israel. Supporting a "Palestinian" state is the same as supporting theft of Jewish land. If anarchy is the game, Israel should also be able to claim Damasqus, Cairo, Teheran or Moscow - or why not Mecca and Medina? There is no difference Bertram. Deliberately or not, you are creating a very difficult situation for yourself basing your arguments on a very watery and ill defined yardstick for land ownership and/or national rights. Not that I have ever cared too much about your opinions anyway, but how come you find such an interest in commenting my talkbacks? Should I feel honored or insulted?

Whether we like it or not, the fact is that bowing before tyrants and persecuting Jews is an innate part of the European character. It remains unchanged through the centuries. Another part of the European character is starting big wars and expecting foreigners to bail them out. I suspect Europe has had its last bailout in WW II.

I won't call you a liar, it may be that you are just stupid. Read again CAREFULLY. It states clearly that the decisions are based on the Balfour Declaration which states CLEARLY that "H M government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people .........nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non - Jewish communities in Palestine..."

Jordan already occupies almost 80% of the Jewish National Homeland. There is no legal, moral or any rational basis for stealing still more Jewish land to create a bogus "Palestinian" state. There were no demands for such a state when Jordan governed Judea and Samaria. Moreover, "Palestinian" leaders have admitted, many times, that their demand to create such a state is only a ruse to destroy Israel.

How about completing the sentence? "nothing should be done which might prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country". The non-Jewish communities were not to have political rights - only the Jews. It says it in the same sentence that you concatenated. You are the one that has not read the entire thing - not us.

Pity the Europeans. Europe is simply continuing its anti-Semitism. It never stopped, as a result of WWII, it simply paused. However, Europe soon will be faced with the Islamic doctrine of death to infidels. Population growth forecasts indicate that, within 20 years, most European countries will have Muslim majorities. When that occurs, the Muslims will institute rule by the Shariah, which calls for death to infidels, to non-believers. And so, Europeans will have the choice of converting to Islam, or of being subject to the same kind of treatment that the Jews have endured. Actually, conversion won't even help them. The two major branches of Islam, the Sunnis and the Shia, each consider the other to be infidels, and they have been killing each other for centuries, for that reason. That is the true cause of the current killing in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Iraq, Egypt, Mali, Libya, Tunisia, Nigeria, Sudan and Syria, to name just a few of the affected countries. And so, if the Europeans convert to Sunni Islam, they will be considered infidels by the Shia, who, accordingly, consider it their religious duty to kill them. And, if the Europeans convert to Shiite Islam, they will be considered infidels by the Sunnis, who, accordingly, consider it their religious duty to kill them. And so, pity the Europeans.
