Why should it disturb the International Community? They have been totally unmoved over the deaths of 100,000 Syrians so far, whats the difference between a child being killed by a high explosive shell or by Sarin gas?
32. #17. The Nazis had E.U. allies & collaborators?
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.03.13)
#17. "What nations - besides Germany - were responsible for WW 2?" To start with; Italy was allied with Nazi Germany. The Hungarian fascist government and many other European governments collaborated with the Nazis.
33. British Labor Party
Zechariah   (09.03.13)
The British Labor Party tried to stop Holocaust Survivors Entry into Palestine after WW2 the. British and French Betrayed Poland in September 1939 by not resting a no fligh zone over Poland attacking Nazi bases in Germany or oppening up a massive artlllary Barrage from the Marginot line
34. Britain - NOT their finest hour.
Raoul ,   Israel   (09.03.13)
Churchill must be turning in his grave.
35. #1 Chaim
Michael ,   Haifa   (09.03.13)
Quoting you with one little essential change: "There is nothing quite as obnoxious as (the E.U.) ANYBODY self righteously lecturing others on morality.
36. How Can It Be Done?
Christy ,   Boston, US   (09.03.13)
Just how can one government 'punish' another to make them stop killing their own citizens - short of all out war? It would be lovely if it could be done - but it can't. Pressure via sanctions, embargoes, etc. can be brought to bear. A few missiles can be fired. There is *no* guarantee this will stop the citizens from being killed. The only way to be sure is to invade and take over the country. Nobody wants this to happen. I'd like to see the Arab/Muslim countries take the lead in dealing with Syria. They must be concerned about the people getting killed. Their intervention will be viewed with far less suspicion than any intervention by Western Powers.

40. European Disgrace
Jim Arbus ,   Miami Florida   (09.03.13)
I agree with the first part of your article on Europe's duplicity and double standards. What I disagree on is Obama shooting missiles into Syria and here is why: Obama is a weak President. By shooting missiles in Syria and not following through will stir up a hornet's nest and everybody else will be holding the bag. Obama is the worst President this country has every had. I agree with Sarah Palin's solution, "Let Allah Sort it Out"
41. Calm down Shimon, calm down...
Zyx ,   USA   (09.03.13)
The disgrace is on the UK (and on you for being so poorly informed), not on France. France is actually pushing for a military intervention.
42. they didn't lose it now!
canadian ,   canada   (09.03.13)
they lost it in 1943-44 when they closed their eyes to hitler's atrocities. forget about europe! israel can only depend on itself, and do what is best for israel!
43. Europe is a complete immoral disgrace.
Wise Saba ,   Western Negev   (09.03.13)
And should shut up.
44. More obnoxious?... May be Shiffer himself, who as usual will
Sergio HaDaR Tezza ,   Venezia, Italy   (09.03.13)
spend lots of words to criticize Israel when Israel is dealing with her enemies and will again preach his pacifist osloid delusion.
45. WHEN did Europe do anything for the Jews
Sergio HaDaR Tezza ,   Venezia, Italy   (09.03.13)
except massacring us? Europe is the most palestinIST in the West! And Why wouid that be that Israel should meddle in Syria's civil war, when Syria is one of Israel's worst enemies?
46. another day
rm ,   Amsterdam NL   (09.03.13)
another Europe bashing article...I got an idea...if you dislike Europe so much why don't you sever all ties. Military, Economical, diplomatic....why waste your time on us...deceiptful Europeans...who as every Israeli seem to know cannot be trusted.....and while your at it...cut ties with the US as well since your hate for Obama in rightwing circles is so obvious....

And when did Israel use WMD’s in Gaza? You have a good imagination; pity it has nothing to do with reality.
48. Assad is a blessing for Israel, but of course we should milk
tom ,   tel aviv   (09.03.13)
the "Oh, it's so inhuman to use chemicals in warfare"- mantra to the end AND bash the double-tongued Euro Dhimmis with it, over their antisemitic heads! Appearances is everything in Life.
49. #4, #37 Have you read the article?
Tahl   (09.03.13)
There is absolutely no connection between this article - whose point is the EU's hypocrisy - and your comments. Find somewhere else to peddle your anti-Israel vitriol.
50. European disgrace, indeed!!!!!
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.03.13)
Syrian use of chemical weapons in order to mass murder civilians and Europe and the US reaction to it has two important points on which we must focus: 1. Morally, the entire world, not only the US, ought to see to it that Syrai is punished for such anti-humanitarian and illegal acts, and this includes Europe of course. 2. The US drew a line in the sand, and unless it stands by it, both friend and foe of the US, worldwide, will judge America. And, if America still wishes to ensure its interests around the world, it better show self-respect to the lines in the sand that its President drew. Europe ought to take a note of this point as well. This is NOT an Israel issue, although some, whoever they may be..... attempt to make it such, as it is easy to blame the Jews, again, for any predicament faced by society. This is, once again, an international issue and an American one.
51. #46 exactly... And people read this trash like its bible

52. #11 - Israeli 2
Devorah   (09.03.13)
Thank you. I think it will play out to the liking of AQ. Obama won't let anything bad happen to them. On the other hand, there is this nugget which is splashing all over the internet: "BRITAIN allowed firms to sell chemicals to Syria capable of being used to make nerve gas, the Sunday Mail can reveal today. "Export licences for potassium fluoride and sodium fluoride were granted months after the bloody civil war in the Middle East began. "The chemical is capable of being used to make weapons such as sarin, thought to be the nerve gas used in the attack on a rebel-held Damascus suburb which killed nearly 1500 people, including 426 children, 10 days ago." Perhaps Cameron is more interested in destroying the evidence than performing a great act of humanitarian aid. Shana Tova, dear Israeli 2. May you be blessed with good health, happiness, prosperity and love in the coming year.
53. #49 this article is nothing to rely on or quote going forwar
nel   (09.03.13)
just propaganda for idiots to digest
54. #33 are you crazy ?
(09.03.13)
how could the Brits enforce a no fly zone over Poland? Germany had the most advanced airforce in the world and was right next door to Poland. The Brits had no fighters even able to fly that far let alone enforce a no fly zone on the Luftwaffe. The French and Polish airforces had obsolete aircraft which were no match for the Luftwaffe.
55. I have to agree with Shimon and Chaim#1
Shachar ,   Eilat   (09.03.13)
The EU response has once again been pathetic and obnoxious. Strangely in Libya they got the response (France and Britain more than Europe) , why is it so hard for them to transfer the same logic to Syria? Oil in Libya, no oil in Syria is the only feasible explanation. France intervened in a civil war in Mali only a few months ago and no massacres or WMD's happened there. Europe manages sophisticated policies across a very diverse and divided continent. How can their foreign policy be so pathetic???
56. Obama and Syria
Fred Willis ,   USA   (09.03.13)
Obama's decision to send the Syria situation for approval from Congress is absolutely the correct one according to US Constitutional Law. Most Americans for whatever reason want the US to stay out of Syria and they will be frozen in this position if Obama goes it alone. Obama is being very smart both for Israel and US by getting the Congress on board officially.
57. To rm, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
David Clarke ,   Liverpool, England.   (09.03.13)
You are absolutely right, Ynet cannot get enough of Slagging off Europe recently despite Europe being Israels strongest economic partner and Europe being a key ally of the State of Israel. I think Ynet must trying to appeal to the racist Arab hating bible thumping religious fanatics and right wing nutcases from Israel and the United States who regularly post their messianic delusions on ynet message boards. By slagging off Europe for not agreeing with their messianic delusions and their extreme right-wing world viewpoint ynet is appealing to their general sense of hate for anybody racialy, religiously or politicaly different from them, aka anybody who isn't a religious fanatic or right-wing extremeist which is pretty much the majority of the world population. I for one am glad I live in a proudly moderate, religiously and racially tolerant and progressive continent that is not filled with bible thumping racists and right-wing rednecks determined to start armageddon.
58. What next?
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (09.03.13)
The issue in Syria is who will replace Assad? Will it be rebels including al Qaeda and Iranian-backed terrorists? Will the terrorists get a stockpile of chemical weapons? Parliament was right to hesitate, but they are willing to reconsider if there is more and better evidence. What is the UN and the Arab League doing?
59. Shiffer has always had a great sympathy for the Arab
