1. Take responsibility for your own sins, don't add to them
A REAL Jew ,   Israel   (09.03.13)
Otherwise, you're no different from our enemy extremists. Hurting animals brings you closer to Satan, not God.
2. Does Torah allow Kapporot?
JeanH ,   USA   (09.03.13)
Where in Torah is a chicken a legitamate 'sacrifice; animal? Calf, Bull. Lamb, goat, pigeon...no chicken.
3. OOops... not pedgeon...doves(end)
JeanH ,   USA   (09.03.13)
4. Time to abandon this foolish custom
Israeli grandma   (09.03.13)
A primitive custom which causes animals to suffer, is long overdue to be abandoned. As the respected rabbanim teach, giving charity to the needy is far better
5. Kaparot in 21st Century? Only for the primitive & stupid.
Michael ,   California, USA   (09.03.13)
6. Source of ritual
Zusha ,   NYC, USA   (09.03.13)
The Aruch HaShulchan states that the source of using kapporot is from paganism, and should be stopped. In addition, anyone who acts to stop this ritual in their community, he will personally defend them in Shamayim. Pretty strong words, and not a bad defensive attorney.
7. Kapparot
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (09.03.13)
Why not put on rubber gloves and dump those sins on piglets? They're not allowed to be eaten by Jews and maybe porkchops or bacon will give a few lousy Gentiles serious cases of the runums :-)
8. #5, still denying intelligent design in the 21st century?
Jake ,   USA   (09.03.13)
Only for the primitive & stupid.
9. Stinks of idolatry to me!
Cowboy Joe ,   Calgary, Canada   (09.03.13)
10. Please the inocent chiken going to be a nice diner

in one way or another....
11. Jake, far from design and creation. An accident only.
Michael ,   California, USA   (09.04.13)
Give up, the truth is out and is getting stronger through proofs every day. It was an accidental Big Bang, kapish? The kapparot are getting weaker along with arguments about intelligent design that are still made by stupid humans. Time to join the majority and to show you know something.
12. completely agree. Stop 'scapegoat the chicken
Ezer   (09.04.13)
Time to right a wrong and ban it. This custom should be reinterpreted metaphorically. We should be cleaning ourselves of sin, not inflicting pain on defenseless animals.
13. #11 with all the answers ..wait & see..
In4asurprise ,   Jerusalem Israel   (09.04.13)
14. It has been proven time and time again....
Bluegrass Picker ,   Afula   (09.05.13)
that "torah Judaism" based thinking produces INCORRECT livestock handling. This is not a question of morality. This is a question of knowing the difference between up and down. Yeshiva students should be REQUIRED to spend a semester at Kansas State University or Texas A&M to come up to speed on these matters.
15. Kaparoth
Edouard ,   Montreal Canada   (09.05.13)
Can we use terorist that are seating in jail and that are causing auther terorist atacks unstated of releasing them Because they have no problem to use us as kaparoth at any given time of the year not only at the end of Ramadan
16. End result ?
Joseph ,   London England   (08.18.14)
Whether you use money or fowl, the end result is charity for the poor. What would a poor person prefer? Money to buy food prior to the Fast, or a chicken which has received all someone else's sins?
17. Reply to 2 Jean H
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (08.18.14)
Kapporot is NOT a sacrifice as set out in the Torah. That is why we can use only an animal that could not become a sacrifice. Outside the Temple one cannot bring a sacrifice.
