31. Historians and Segal's stupid prophecies
Michael ,   Haifa   (09.04.13)
Historians won't even notice Segal's drivel, when they come to study this period
32. Michael #31
Jake   (09.04.13)
I notice that every post of yours revolves around a criticism, and not on an original thought or idea or factual tidbit. The eternal "opposition".
33. #21, Mark, your post makes no sense whatsover
Jake   (09.04.13)
"I am quite sure that President Obama and his thoughtful decision making process is more admired around the world than the right wing extremism prevalent in Israel and it's hawkish supporters." Obama, not Israel, is the one planning on attacking Syria, a sovereign nation. And yet, despite being the "leader of the free world" he is unable to find partners to his planned attack, or get UN approval, though United States sits on the Security Council. You are utterly deluded, and to be pitied.
34. Paul #8, Obama will get his needless war
Jake   (09.04.13)
Perhaps he was hoping that Congress would hold him back so he could cop out and not have to follow through on his threat. But it looks like Congress is on board to rubber-stamp Obama's pointless "pin-point" attack on Syria.
35. #24, Sarah, you are safely ensconsed in London
Jake   (09.04.13)
both now and while you were mocking the residents of Sderot when Gazan rockets were raining down on southern Israel. And don't try to deny it because past posts can be retrieved. And by the way, Israel is not part of G20. It is also not part of the Syrian conflict, so get a clue.
36. #30 Jake darling
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (09.04.13)
I am a secular Jew, and as a woman I am entitled to be heard, you want me to ride in the back of the bus you can go to hell And if there is a gag order then someone forgot to send the memo to numerous Israeli diplomats, politicians and generals who have flooded the western media with their opinions. Then lets talk AIPAC and the ADL who have announced their support for an attack on Syria. Hardly a neutral Israeli stance. It must be hard for you understanding the wider world but Israel will be granting overflights for the B2's and cruise missiles soon enough. Suggest you trim your beard so your gas mask fits. And don't believe everything you read or watch in the Israeli media, it is censored by the military.
37. MAYAN PREDICTION WAS RIGHT, END OF WORLD VIA OBAMA ELECTION
KF ,   LOS ANGELES USA   (09.04.13)
The Mayan prediction of end of world was correct because Obama was elected which was the start of the end of the world. Here we are at the brink of WWIII because he and the Saudis setup Arab Spring and now the east and west faceoff. Morsi was booted because he did not unblock Gaza and the Persians and Hezbullah are in trouble because they tolerate the faggots instead of killing them. Who knows was Netanyahu is thinking with picking a fights with his neighbors and booting the religous jews out of the gov.
38. How dare this author call an
GideonReader   (09.04.13)
incompent putz an incompetent putz? Just because of overwhelming evidence to support that charget does not make it so. Do not forget he is the smartest man in any room he enters. He leads with his behind or something. The problem is Al Assad is doing stuff because Obama-Soetoro is not a Swede. In the words of DC Mayor found smoking crack cocaine; applied to this time and place."Da bitch set me up!!!"
39. history might laugh...
rob ,   Orangevale U.S.A.   (09.05.13)
But every smug Syrian with any true love for his ancient land will not laugh. Not one Syrian that's about eat missile schmutz will laugh or mock. He, if lucky enough to still roam the earth, will tremble at the destruction of the country he loves. He may or may not love Bashar, but he will see what the president has wrought. Mock all you want, as the reaper is prone to do, but death will rein upon Damascus and other places as result of an evil empire. I would rather be the one mocked, than the one 'mocking'. Shalom Israel, rob
40. #30, Israel bombed Syria 5 times this year, occupies Golan
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN   (09.04.13)
41. Historians will mock Obama
mike ,   usa   (09.05.13)
The American public is fed up with wars and sick and tired of the whole ME maelstrom. Poll after poll shows this clearly. Apparently for the author of this article,we don't count. He must live in Israel
42. Obama's Legacy
Ross Gallen ,   Henderson, USA   (09.05.13)
The legacy of Obama is not that people will think of him as a "bad" person but he will be thought of as a weak president whose actions compromised the peace and stability of the world order. Public officials have to recognize that words have consequences, and their failure to carry out their representations will result in political instability and chaos. We are not living in 1940. There is instant accountability because of TV, computers and the internet.
43. Obama
rm ,   Amsterdam NL   (09.05.13)
right-wing pro-Israeli supporters cannot get enough of calling Obama names..I can't help but thinking there's some kind of race-issue at hand besides the fact that he's no blind zionist ofcourse...Anyway this column brings the traditional mocking. Personally I think it isn't a bad idea at all to make sure you're backed before you attack...especially since the conservatives act like bloodhounds towards Obama
44. mike #41, you missed the point
Jake   (09.05.13)
None of this would have been an issue had Obama kept his mouth shut and not issued a threat to attack Syria in the first place. Once he did that, hiding behind Congress to ask permission to make a "pinpoint" limited strike just looks pathetic. The cowboy took his gun out of the holster and pointed it. Now he doesn't know what to do with it.
45. Benassi #40, That's never been proven
Jake   (09.05.13)
but if Israel did take some action against Syria, at least it wasn't against some arbitrary country 6000 miles away that didn't attack her. Israel would never have had to "occupy" the Golan had Syria not attacked Israel at the start of the Six Day War, as well continuously bombarding Israel between 1949 and 1967.

You seem to mock president Obama because he did not get the USA into another war. Keep mocking for our sons who did not die??????
47. To: No. 21
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.06.13)
The only thing that would make most countries happy would be for Israel to cease to exist. Is that what you're advocating? Anti-Israel sentiment is nothing more than good, old-fashioned hatred of Jews, morphed into a hatred of that most tangible of all things Jewish -- the State of Israel. I hope you'll excuse the State of Israel for choosing not to accede to the wishes of knuckle-draggers such as yourself. You -- and they -- will just have to find a way to cope. And if you cannot deal with it .... well, there's always suicide. Good riddance. You won't be missed.
48. I've Never Cared
Christy ,   Boston, US   (09.07.13)
.. about the opinion of 'the world' nor do I care about future historians. The world's opinion seems to change in the breeze - same is true of historians' opinions. If an action - or inaction - by the US is the correct action it's to be decided on its merits. The US shouldn't be swayed by 'world opinion' when taking military action. It's not the time for US military action in Syria. If 'world opinion' is so united - take it to the UN or the Arab League for military action. There are plenty of other countries with the ability to act militarily against Syria.

Actually, I mock Obama because of the length of time and number of exams it took him to pass. By one point. Forgive me if I find him astonishingly incompetent for the job he holds. What is telling is the fact that not a single law firm recruited him. He "graduated" at the bottom of his class, and needed multiple shots at the bar exam. Before passing by one point. That's why he became a "neighborhood organizer," petal. No one wanted to give that bumbling fool a job. Apart from the fact that he was NOT born in the United States, he is otherwise the perfect American president. Dumb, dumber, dumbest. But we expect our dumb presidents to be born in the United States -- it's actually a Constitutional requirement -- and Hussein Obama was not. Yet another fraud perpetrated upon the people of the United States. Ask him to identify the charities to which he allegedly distributed his Nobel Prize winnings. Would it surprise you to discover that he funded two offshore trusts, both benefiting his daughters? Charity, indeed. The American people have been duped. Twice. Then again .... the American people are not all that intelligent. So no one is really particularly surprised. Hopefully, Hussein Obama will be removed from office before he ignites World War III. A disgraceful legacy for an incompetent president who doesn't belong in the White House by reason of birth. The Constitution requires the president of the United States to be born in the United States. Obama was born in Kenya. Maybe the scales will fall from the eyes of his Secret Service detail. Hey, a girl can dream.

Exactly. Let the Arab League handle internecine Arab issues. Let them be the ones to lie down with dogs and get up with fleas. We don't need Arab oil. Europe does. Let them protect the twisted Saudis. Haven't enough innocent Americans died to promote democracy in the Arab and Moslem world? Let Moslems clean up their own problems. And if they protest, or dissemble, let's take their oil. Of course, that will be a bit problematic, what with the United States having armed the Saudis to the teeth .... but, hey. Not Israel's problem.
