1. Obama engineered sanctions
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.07.13)
So now Kerry plays the role of supporter when in fact it was Obama that pushed the EU to sanctioning Israeli products from Yehuda and Shomron. Transparent. Go home Obama, GO GET IMPEACHED YOU BUM!
2. In Israel's wettest dream prehaps
Ivor Evenbiggergun   (09.07.13)
The United States wants allies to support it in it's attack on Syria. There is no way that Kerry would use it as a bargaining chip to force the EU to finance the settlements in the West Bank. And no way Kerry will risk alienating Europe when the US needs their support. Not to mention that every country in the EU now has to agree for the policy to be changed, and as it's a vote winner in places like France, Hungary Ireland that is not likely to happen anytime soon. Taxpayers in Europe want government to decrease aid to countries abroad not increase it. Besides if Israel is so successful in the world they can pay for their own occupation
3. It is an utterly masochistic pleasure, to witness the rotten
tom ,   tel aviv   (09.07.13)
to the core machinations of both the Old Europe & "New-Yes-We-Can America!
4. The EU to-day is worse than those
DT ,   TA Israel   (09.07.13)
who sacrificed Czechoslovakia in WW2
5. Impeachment now.....
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.07.13)
6. USA returns to reality and to israel
Philippe ,   Raanana   (09.07.13)
It took some severe bashing and diplomatic defeat for the USA to accept the failure of Obama and panislamist love affair. Kerry and Obama are backpedaling since the Army coup in egypt. Now after so much political failure to bribe and cajole the panislamist wether sunni MB or Shiites iran the USA have a serious hangover and they backpedal towards the one and only friendly country Israel. The Russia-China-North Korea - Iran-Syria axis of evil is very close to winning the whole Mideast , but thanks to the saudi-quatari coup in Egypt and thanks to Israel resilience the USA now can step down from their grotesque panislamist dream.J.Kerry 's move to repel the EU boycott on Israel is a clear proff of the US U-turn.
7. If Kerry is going to ask the EU to "reconsider"
A ,   Belgium   (09.07.13)
their boycott of Israeli institutions in Judea and Samaria, than we can expect another demand for ridiculous concessions from Israel in return. And Bibi, true to form, will probably agree...as long as he doesn't have to give up his ice cream or flying beds.
8. #7 A of Belgium
Ivor Evenbiggergun   (09.07.13)
Don't get it do you? The EU boycotting Israeli settlements in the West Bank issues a direct challenge to Israel's claims to own the West Bank. Netanyahu will do anything to try and force a policy change which is a direct challenge to Israel's position. Why he has sent his lapdog Kerry to London, but I can assure you, sanctions against the west bank by the eu, overall is a vote winner for politicians, not a vote loser, and to be seen to be standing up to AMerican pressure will be seen as a popular enterprise
9. Ivor Hamburger's wettest dream
(09.07.13)
Israel's wettest dream is True and Fair Peace, but not at the price of national suicide! However, guess what? Imbeciles like the one in your mirror think that Islam will spare their insignificant presence, after Islam feels that those spineless useful fools have exceeded the "usefulness" date. Enjoy your Islamist present and future (if others don't stop the madness in time)
10. #8 Oh, I get it all right, I live in Europe
A ,   Belgium   (09.07.13)
Since the EU has been incapable of solving its own very serious economic and social problems for the last several years, they use the United States example: we can't do anything right ourselves, and we don't want to piss off the Arabs who are kind enough to supply us with oil (diesel is now appx. 1.55 euros per liter in Anwerpen, no bargain at all), so we'll pick on Israel, for no other reason than to prove to ourselves that we are the European Union.
11. Kerry a shill for Israel, running for President in 2016
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.07.13)
12. #8 Truly ineffective a & pathetic
Cynthia ,   USA   (09.07.13)
The EU is going bankrupt. If what you say is true, these European politicians are using this boycott as a diversion to avoid dealing with their more serious domestic problems.
13. 1 yes, the boycott was engineered by obama
CJK   (09.07.13)
obama listened to many evil people whose goal is to destroy israel. obama thought that he could run foreign policy on the fringes and not pay a price. events have proven him very wrong.
14. Europe, the immoral, the cowardly
CJK   (09.07.13)
yes, that europe, which wants to boycott Israel, is trembling in fear at the very thought of a us attack on syria. europe is dissolving before our eyes.
15. Our Sacred Role.
Kafantaris ,   Warren, Ohio, USA   (09.08.13)
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free." These words on the Statute of Liberty reflect that we are a magnanimous people and that our country is the beacon of hope for the world. Yet, we have grown weary of this role and of the sacrifices it entails, as parents grow tired of the sacrifices entailed in raising good children. But just as parents cannot abandon their sacred role, neither can we abandon the work that has defined us. Not only because there is no one else around to take our place, but also because there is no one around the world would trust. This is so despite the daily criticism -- and sometimes vitriol -- hurtled against us. Let us shoulder on then, and keep jumping over the hurtles and through the hoops, as we had done the past century. And let us remember that though the world does not always agree with us, it still deems us its de facto leader -- its brightest and singular example of how things should be.
