1. Best solution so far......
(09.09.13)
This is the win win situation for the West & Israel in my opinion. Bare in mind that the chemical weapons cannot be bombed; therefore this may be the best option & will avoid all the unknown outcomes of a US strike.
2. Hez can keep their rockets+WMD bcoz only pointed at Israel
Alan ,   SA   (09.09.13)
Hezballah shud be forced to surrender their WMD and Thousands of Rockets....but they are allowed to keep them as they are meant only to destroy Israel People and Property
3. This is definitely working out in our favor
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.09.13)
Putin is sacrificing a rook and has checkmated Obama in this geo- political chess game. If Obama goes ahead with the strike it is equivalent to a spoiled snot nosed brat tipping the Chessboard before losing... Israel needs to be very happy with this opportunity, it is a big win win for the people and for the Defense of Israel.
4. Spooky resemblance between al-Moallem and Sharon
Jake   (09.09.13)
Just looking at that photo gives me goose bumps.
5. Russia urges Syria
Leonard ,   Green River, U.S.A.   (09.09.13)
Both the U.S. & the USSR have destroyed, under verification, their chemical weapons stockpiles & if Syria will do the same, that will be the best outcome. Secular Assad though considerabley weakend will remain in power, Hezbollah will be discredited throughout the Arab world, the Golan will remain Israeli, and the people who hate Obama.....well they will just go on hating Obama. Oh Yeah the West Bank & Palestinian State? even God hasn't figured that one out.
6. Halleluah!!! Very good news...
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.09.13)
Putin is a world class leader. Putin is the real leader of the free world at this juncture in history, tragic but true. Ohasbeen is the leader of a Neo-Stasi, Neo-Soviet style police state. If he goes ahead with the bombings now, he is clearly a lunatic that cares nothing for "his" military or for world peace, his Nobel peace prize needs to be crushed to smithereens.
7. Time
Joe Mevorah ,   Lincoln,USA   (09.09.13)
On the surface this proposal makes sense because it avoids war. The Russians can monitor the situation in Syria rather quickly if it really chooses to do so. However, the caveat is time. Will it buy Assad more time to move the chemicals? The Mossad will be busy.
8. The ultimate humiliation for Oblabla and the U.S.
A ,   Belgium   (09.09.13)
Russia convinces Syria to give up their wmd's peacefully (no doubt with some behind the scenes threats), while Oblabla srambles around looking for governmental support for his not to happen attack. Czar Putin will make the Commander-in-Chief (with no military experience) of the U.S. forces look like the confused, unsure, incapable leader that he is. How sad for the U.S., but at least there will be less chance of a conflict between the U.S. and Russia.
9. Great news! Or is it?
SG ,   Teaneck   (09.09.13)
Any reduction in chemical weapons is good but: 1) who determines if all have been located and eliminated? 2) What about biological weapons? 3) So our morality boils down to: Gas chambers are bad; Einsatguppen are not so bad. It's only a question off efficiency. 4) Russia: still the Evil Empire 5) What about Iran? and lastly: 6) What about US weakness and the way that Obama grabbed Israels, AIPAC and ADL by the b**lls and got them to tow the administration's line. It's now Obama's (not Israel's) Jewish lobby? Great! Just what we needed.
10. Time out. Personal foul, illegal formation, Resume play.
SG ,   Teaneck   (09.09.13)
11. I hope this does the job...
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.09.13)
Israelis need to push the AIPAC people back into their cages. The rabid tazmanian devils are no longer needed.....
12. NOBODY CAN IMPLEMENT THIS PLAN.
carlos ,   San Diego CA   (09.09.13)
13. #12 who cares
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.09.13)
As long as it takes away Oblabla's excuses for starting WWIII.
14. Too bad for 1400 victims of the toxic gasses
Alan ,   Canada   (09.09.13)
It is too bad the Russians & the Syrians did not think of safely disposing of the nerve gas before they let the victims die of an horrible death. Too bad the Russian FM has not yet thought about asking the ICC to issue a warrant on Bashar Assad for crimes against humanity & war crimes. And not only for the 1400 victims of last August but also for the 100 000 civilian victims of the last two years. Mr Lavrov is a apparently a slow thinker! It would be a sinister end if Lavrov succeeded by his last minute manoeuvre to fool the US Congress & Obama into letting Assad go scot-free.
15. Assad needs to transfer Syrian chemical weapons stockpile
CJK   (09.09.13)
if assad wants to survive, he needs to transfer his entire stockpile of chemical weapons to a third party under un supervision in the next week. russia would be an acceptable third party.russia knows the location of Syrian chemical weapons. russia would be charged with destroying all syrian chemical weapons and would need to give assurances to the united states that it would not resupply syria with chemical weapons or with other weapons that would pose an unacceptable danger to the region.
16. Assad must agree to the following:
DemoRules ,   Canada   (09.09.13)
- The weapons clearance and disposal teams will be fully controlled by Canada and Israel - Assad must never do this again. More specifically he must covenant to abide by the Geneva Agreement on poison gas that Syria signed on December 17, 1968. He must also sign and abide by the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1993. - To dismantle all WMD and related materiel in Syria - To cease all imports of WMD- related materiel, particularly from N. Korea, Iran, Russia, China. - To remove all foreign WMD experts and advisors. This includes the N. Korean poison gas experts. - To cease the manufacture of all pesticides, since these factories can be converted to sarin manufacture. Pesticides can be imported under Canadian supervision. - To never again threaten Israel with WMD, including past statements like, "I will set you on fire". - To acknowledge that any possession or use of any WMD by Hezbollah will result in an attack on Assad personally.
17. Now that the truth is out...
manicdrummer ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.09.13)
...can we possibly find out where those chemical weapons came from?
18. This is an excellent solution...IF
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.09.13)
it can be worked out. This after all is what the original UN was meant to do - to avoid warfare between member nations.
19. #3, #6 Get real
(09.09.13)
If it was not for American pressure there wouldn't be a snowball's chance in hell that Assad would consider giving up chemical weapons. It looks like the policy of US administration might bear exquisite fruit!
20. #19
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.09.13)
Don't kid yourself. Oblabla and his cronies are dead set on starting a major conflagration. This was not a part of their game plan. As you can clearly see they are still seriously itching to start a war. Their double speak is not fooling anyone. Obastard needs a war to cover for the financial meltdown barreling at us at 500 MPH... it will be here by October. The timing is extremely suspect.
21. So, he will kill the next 100,000 with rockets!
Dee Bee ,   The Galilee, Israel   (09.09.13)
Anybody who believes Putin, Lavrov and anyone in the rotten Russian regime needs psychiatric help urgently!
