31. Holocaust
Joona Vainio ,   Helsinki, Finland   (09.11.13)
Hi, Excuse me, but this is important, because the context is confusing. In the following sentence: “He had to do it. His family was threatened. We're threatened if he didn’t. And he was one of many in the SS. There were others as well who would do it if he didn’t. " Does she refer to the alleged confession under torture or executing Jews in Auschwitz?
32. No. 15 Gil
NYC Girl   (09.11.13)
I have nothing but the utmost respect and gratitude for those Germans who visit Israel, and those, especially, who have chosen to live there in order to work with elderly Holocaust survivors. However, Brigitte Hoss is not one of those Germans. And while she certainly isn't responsible for the sins of her father, her unqualified defense of him is rather stomach-turning, since others who've discovered the role their fathers and grandfathers played in the Holocaust have at least had the decency to disavow them.
33. to 15
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (09.11.13)
If we, Jews and especially, the children of Holocausr survivors, were holding the new generation of Germany responsible for the innihilation of our parents, grandparents and innocent children, we would act on it differently. Gil.. But if you ask me and millions of other descendents of death camps survivors, even the sound of German language does invoke frightening memories to me... I was robbed of too many Family members, to not remember and not pass on the history...The innocent victims of the ovens of auschwitz , do deserve that little: Rememberence... Have you ever heard:: "The more things change, the more they stay the same"...?
34. I urge everyone read the original WP article
Susan ,   Syracuse, NY   (09.14.13)
Not all abominable quotes from this woman were printed in YNET. You really should need to read the entire article. It's unbelievable. If she really appreciated or rejected what her father did, she wouldn't be sleeping wtih a picture of him over her bed.
35. If you have ties to Aucshwitz....
Ezra ,   San Diego   (09.16.13)
If you have ties to Auschwitz ( and I do),and your German relatives where caught up in the terrible times Germany had, they would tell you the situation was very, very bad. The Nazis intimidation was extreme on the German citizens too....and that's no excuse for the murderous actions. It's conceivable this girl was kept from the piles of half-dead Jewish bodies fresh from the gas chambers. The last moaning sounds of human beings being burned alive still in gas induced haze.... Today Germany is different, and I appreciate that, but honestly, I can never trust any Gentile government to stand by the nation of Israel in thick and thin. Friendship ; yes. Total trust; not until the messianic age begins!
36. Ever since I understood the reality about
Survivor   (09.17.13)
my aunt and two young cousins being gassed and burned at Auschwitz, my life turned me into an "adult" child thus losing my innocent childhood. The same thing must have happened to millions of survivors. This woman who does not indicate any remorse, not even a hint of it, needs to go down life by suffering at least great moral pains. And stay in hell with all her pains. She fully deserves them if she doesn't even show the least of curiosity, let alone empathy.
37. #27 Chris,
Walt K ,   Sherbrooke, Canada   (09.17.13)
The worst thing is that the nazi spirit is still alive and well around the world.
38. SHOAH/HOLOCAUST AND PRESENT GERMAN
Sjoerd van der Velde ,   Nederland   (09.17.13)
NEVER SHOAH/HOLOOCAUST/GENOCIDE AGAIN.
39. Great father.Too bad about the Holocaust!
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (02.16.14)
They really don't get it, do they? He was a good father. And Hitler was kind to his dog. What does that prove?
40. The Final Solution
Danny ,   London England   (02.16.14)
For a good recent study of Auschwitz, see 'Auschwitz: The Nazis and The Final Solution',by Laurence Rees, BBC Books, 2005.
41. Really?
Henneburg-Romhilde ,   USA   (03.29.14)
Some of you have such blind hatred, I find it hilarious. This girl was 13 years old at the time. And the destruction of an entire "breed"? The irony can't possibly be wasted on you, is it?
42. She was thirteen!
Dorothy ,   USA   (01.15.16)
She was a young child when this all happened. She only saw the good side of her father. We can't hold that against her.
