Now what can the USA & the world do anything regarding this open "challenge"?

A balance of power is not a bad thing, as was the balance between the USA and the USSR before the 90's. If the new air defence system for Iran is put in place and it stops Bibi's insane suicidal attack plans then that's also good. Iran is not threatening Israel and has no intentions of attacking it anyway. It just wants an insurance policy against Western power. Meanwhile the only person who keeps prattling on about attacking another sovereign state is Bibi himself.

I voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012 but I am deeply disappointed at the total ineptness of his foreign policy. Instead of being strong he appeared weak and allowed the dictator and thug Putin to appear as though he was the puppet master pulling Obama's strings. If you are a supporter of Israel, as I am, then you should know, as I'm sure all Israelis now know, that Israel is all alone in facing a nuclear Iran. Israel cannot effectively take care of the Iranian threat by itself and Obama showed Israel how America will do nothing at all to help the Jewish State when push comes to shove. Irregardless of where you stand on Syria, Obama's weakness has now empowered Putin, Assad, Iran, and Hezbollah, and in the long run that spells disaster for the entire Middle East.

God will guide our fighter through the air defences as they do over Lebanon Besides our technological superiority over the rest of the world will neutralise this particular threat. Real problem is if Putin offers the system to Lebanon to prevent Israeli forays into Syria

Things are starting to look just how they did during the cold war with the arabs being Russian client states and getting the best Russian technology on the market with the US supporting Israel. After the end of the cold war for a time largely because of cost issues Russia got out the Middle East but now they are clawing their way back. They are arming Syria & Iran and building Iran nuclear reactors. They have offered weapons to Lebanon and they also struck a deal with Assad getting them back their old cold war naval base in Tartus which is the only one outside the former Soviet satellite states. They are a major player in the Syrian war and so far outmanoeuvred Obama. What we really do seem to be seeing here is the beginning of a new cold war with Russia looking for a return to previous glory and best of all for them is the US has a very weak president who is unwilling to get into a political confrontation with them. When Obama goes if the US gets a strong president and not Kerry who is undoubtedly being groomed to be the ned Democratic presidential candidate then we will see if this is the beginning of a new cold war or Russia taking advantage of Obamas weakness.

Putin learned a few things from fascist East Germany during the years he lived and worked there. He has cleaned up the streets of Russia and is now trying to 'clean' the rest if the world. Agree or disagree but history repeats itself and Russia soon will be the world power that it once was. Russian people are not afraid of Muslims, but still harbor fear and hatred toward Jews. I remember the Afghani refugees sprawled across the streets of Khabarovsk were brought meals and clothes but the few Jews living in the city constantly endured swastikas painted above their doorbells.
