1. This guy is stark raving mad!
Jayjay ,   Israel   (09.13.13)
2. Oy gevalt!
Ram ,   London   (09.13.13)
Will their mentality ever change?!
3. ...and hence the phrase was coined....
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (09.13.13)
He thinks 'denial' is a river in Egypt.
4. "As long as the al-Aqsa Mosque...
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (09.13.13)
"... is under your occupation." Fine. Give him a panoramic picture of the Temple Mount. Ask him to point to al-Aqsa. If he points to the Dome of the Rock, the way 99% of the Arab newspapers do, tell him to go play with himself in a corner.
5. Judging who won in the end.
Mendoza ,   Tel-Aviv, Israel   (09.13.13)
Maybe Israel won the military battle but this is not reflected in the final result ie that Egypt regained their occupied land. So looking back Egypt did fulfill their aim, Israel got some kind of a peace treaty.
6. Taking Arab mentality into account it only makes sense, that
tom ,   tel aviv   (09.13.13)
the poor losers will aggrandize their defeat. What is much more irritating, is the Israeli Left's unrelenting portrayal of our victory, as something approaching shameful defeat! We must fight this lousy smear campaign on every occasion.
7. to #4
observer ,   egypt   (09.13.13)
ask the same question about the temple this time, the first israeli will point to the wailing wall, the second israeli will confirm that the original wailing wall is at the income tax building
8. Important they retain their 1001 nights version
Harvela ,   London   (09.13.13)
Arab propensity to rewrite history and events as they unfold is one of our greatest assets . In 67 , Nasser was told by his generals that the Israel Air Force had been wiped out and that Egyptian troops were nearing Tel Aviv . Of course the exact opposite had occurred . Israel stayed quiet in order to finish the job before the Russians came to the rescue of their clients . In 1973 , Sharon had crossed the canal cutting off the Egyptian third army which was within days of running out of supplies , food water etc . This time the Russians threatened to step in knowing their clients were facing disaster and the UN brokered a cease fire to prevent that happening . Let them claim what they like . The wise person says nothing . He simply gets on with getting the job done .
9. Utopians forever Ayayay !
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, USA   (09.13.13)
Gracious G-D those guys are on "Koolaids" or worse
10. the big lie!
michael Pielet ,   israel   (09.13.13)
The big lie. In the weeks days before the Yom Kippur War, Israel failed to adequately reinforce the lines on the canal and in the Golan. This was due to arrogance, hubris and stupidity of the high command. Only later political elites and the high command created the big lie that they could not call up reserves due to their fear of the U.S. reaction. Nobody told israel not to reinforce the lines and protect itself. Further even if israel attacked preemptively on the morning of October 6th, the U.S. still would have resupplied rather than allowing the Soviet Union to win the war. Thank g-d the regular, everyday soldier saved Israel from the folly of Dayan, Elazar, Zeira and company.
11. Arab logic
Dani ,   TLV   (09.13.13)
Attack a country 50x as small as you, on a religious holiday so they are unprepared, gain no land, suffer more casualties, and still consider it a victory. Israel is lucky to have enemies as stupid and without ambition as these guys.
12. "EGYPT" VICTORY !!!!
JACK ,   NETANYA   (09.13.13)
DID THEY ALSO TELL THAT THE ISRAELI FORCES WERE 40 KM. FROM CAIRO , THE SITE OF THE ARMISTICE.
13. Yes, Egypt won...
solomon ,   bklyn   (09.13.13)
some battles, but not the war. Give them credit and never underestimate your enemy. However. he “forgets” that Egypt had to beg the US to make Israel let supplies in to their surrounded, trapped army. He “forgets” that Hamas, Hezbollah, PA, et al are dedicated to Israel’s destruction no matter what. He lives in a dream world.
14. What planet are these guys living on.....???
benjy   (09.13.13)
15. Egypt's great victory
ger ,   raanana, Israel   (09.13.13)
The fact that the war ended with two Egyptian armies surrounded, and the IDF 60 miles from Cairo, and 26 miles from Damascus, means nothing to this historian.
16. thanks to the then government Israel
benjy   (09.13.13)
was so afraid of world opinion so as not to go in first as per 6 day war..(btw what happened to all the egyptian boots left lying around after the run away from the IDF). Israel suffered loses but those brave boys of the IDF fought back and sent the Egyptians running back to Cairo...and the IDF wasnt far behind them! Arabs always claim victory when they loose, moral and lies, but go figure the mentality. Gmar Hatimah tovah
17. Dumb Egyptians
govind ,   Madras,India   (09.13.13)
Another dumb Egyptian trying to distort history in their favour. The truth is Egypt was defeated in The "Yom Kippur"/October 1973 war.The Israelis were on their march to Cairo.Only when the Soviets threatened to sent ground forces to protect Cairo ,the US pleaded Israel to halt their advance to which they agreed. The UN later brokered a cease fire.Arabs just can't face reality.
18. Is is so easy. Search the net...
David ,   Rishon IL   (09.13.13)
Search the net: Yom Kippur War, Yom Kippur War summary, Yom Kippur wiki, Yom Kippur 1973. In all sources Israel is the winner. There are documents, photo materials, objective outcome. The army was 40 KM away from Kayro. And the Sinai Peninsula was abandoned due just according peace agreement. Our country suffered relatively much casualties and material harm nevertheless. Need to admit.
19. Listen
OneFrom73 ,   Tveira   (09.13.13)
This issue of who "won" is funny... both countries won. They got the sinai back and we got the peace we desired (albeit a cold peace at that). Also, if the military victory by Israel would have been more apparent, I doubt very much Kissinger would have been able to do his magic. Egyptian fought well and crossed the canal, in a very complex operation, but there were very few Israeli forces to stop them from doing so due to a flotilla of inept politicians in Jerusalem, than Israel attacked back and suffered massive losses due to doing it too hap hazardly, until the 14 of October when the Egyptian made their big mistake by moving large columns of tanks unprotected (against the advise of Shazly their COS,,,) and were nocked out and devastated, than it was Israel time to move in and do the damage, So, rebounding and winning from behind one can say is ten times more difficult, but yet Israeli soldiers, so brave and so full of the will to sacrifice won the war, but both sides won at the end, in my opinion.
20. Is he talking about the 67 war?
BUILD BABY BUILD !!! ,   United States   (09.13.13)
Israel wiped the Egyptian asses in six days. Want some more dumbo?? KEEP BUILDING!!!!
21. It is all about pride
ghilmeini ,   usa   (09.13.13)
Arabs are proud people. 67 was a giant humiliation to them. In 73 they at least showed they could fight. This restored sense of self enabled the Peace with Egypt in 1978. For the last 35 years, Israel and Egypt have had peace and that is worth them having a public mythos that suits them. In their war colleges, the maps of 1973 do not lie. Nor do the archives showing Sadat begging Nixon for water for the Third Army. Give people their dignity but stand strong yourself. Lastly, strategically Israel greatly benefits from the demilitarized Sinai. Any army coming across the peninsula would be exposed to air attack and be destroyed. The protects Israel enormously.
22. Arrogant
GHook93   (09.13.13)
Egypt invaded with the idea of destroying Israel. They attacked on Israel's holiest day and at it's lowest defense. It would be like Israel invading on the last day of Ramadan. Israel was able to push back the invasion and have the Egyptians and Syrians run back across the border with their tails between their legs!
23. Let the Egyptians tell whatever stories they want to tell
A ,   Belgium   (09.13.13)
about what happened 40 years ago. If they want to believe they won, than they won. Who cares? Everyone knows the truth (except the Egyptians apparently) Fact is, Egypt is doing a better job of choking Gaza than Israel ever did. And that's whats happening today and that's what really counts.
24. War is fought for objectives EGYPT fulfilled their's while..
Younes ,   Cairo,Egypt   (09.13.13)
While all you got was a fake peace aerial's group that crossed the canal could not enter any of the canal cities he had mountains of the red sea behind them and the canal cities filled with resistance and army personnel cairo and and these cities had millions of citizens ready to take arms against sharon's stranded group they couldn't return to sinai and couldn't enter the canal cities now im not going to discuss what was supposed to happen then the reality after that was Egypt had sinai and we all agree here that sinai was of great value to israel not only was it a strategic depth for your small country but u had settlements, life there that we made you leave why would you leave by the way if you were victorious you also left all the resources that sinai had and all you got in return was a fake peace treaty on paper the egyptian people would take arms against you in a second when the time comes ohhh we also had military aid from the US along with our russian arms and economic aid so basically we gave you bunch of worthless paper and took lands money and weapons that you paid a lot of blood and money to defend oh i would just feel so depressed for you ppl when i see barlif's mighty wall struck down in matter of hours what a waste of millions of dollars
25. well he has a point.
Mike Jones ,   Montreal Canada   (09.14.13)
per se. I wouldn't say Israel won in the end. Regardless of the final outcome on the field, we paid a heavy price. In terms of death/population did we not lose more? Also, he's right, the war could have been lost, and showed Israel not be invincible - an important lesson for us! We should not fall into the same trap of delusional ego boosting that they do.
26. Both sides gained respect for each other!
Ilan ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.14.13)
We signed a peace treaty, yes Egypt managed to show Israel what happens when the Egyptian army is taken for granted. and oh what a lesson it was. but diluting yourself to think that you WON, by any stretch of the imagination, and even worse blaming Syria for the reason you stretched yourself too thin, as if you could have won otherwise is arab logic at its best indeed.! the same logic Hamas and Hezbollah applies! #11 put it best! but isn't a peace treaty the best victory of all?
27. Winner or looser depend where you are
Mina ,   Cairo, Egypt   (09.14.13)
Who wins the war depends on the Objectives of war 1- Israel won the 1967 war due to the corruption and arrogant of Nasser and the Egyptian Generals. 2- Diplomacy failed between the 2 wars to bring back Sinai. 3 No doubt the Egyptian Army made a miracle by crossing Barlev line and Suez Canal and destroy all the IDF posts in a record time. 4 The Egyptians pushed deep in Sinai but there goal was not to destroy Israel but just to get their land . 5- What saved Israel was the air lift sent by USA. Without it it would have been a total loss to Israel. 6- The Russians did not help or just with minimum to save face. American Satellite pin pointed a gap between the 2 Egyptian armies 2 and 3 that where the breakthrough happened and Israel got a lead.. Again with direct US help. 7- Sadat in the parliament quoted that he is not capable to fight against USA and that then he accepted the cease fire.
28. let them dream
israeli paratrooper   (09.14.13)
let them dream . they lost the war . their third army was saved was surrounded and was kept alive only by israel mercy . like all israelis , i feel sorry for the egyptians . having their backside kicked by a country a tenth their side which also had another front to fight on .
29. Winner ?
Mina ,   Egypt   (09.14.13)

30. I hear this all the time...
Edwin ,   Canada   (09.13.13)
...from Egyptians, some of whom are "educated". I also hear from the high-ranking military officers a different tune. They know the truth.
