1. Good!
JL ,   Israel   (09.16.13)
I like my food without a side of smoke on the side.
2. There is no ethylene glycol in E-cigarettes
deavman ,   Acco, Israel   (09.16.13)
It's propylene glycol, don't try to mislead the readers. It's bad enough the Ministry of Health is lying to Israel's citizens by claiming that E-cigarettes are dangerous (it is not) and people have all reverted to tobacco cigarettes. A s a non smoker, I have suffered from the smoke of cigarettes all my life, I really thought that e-cigarettes would have had a tremendous benefit to Israeli society. The government failed us and showed it's cynicism and utter lack of concern toward health . Shame on all of us for not protesting an obviously ridiculous claim. Money and especially Dubek win, again.
3. #2: Correct. No ethelene glycol in E Cigs.
David ,   Israel   (09.16.13)
Ethylene glycol, is used in antifreeze. However, there is a lot of medical discussion and legal argument whether e-cigarettes are bad or good. Most do agree thought that there is evidence of reduced smoking by smokers. Check it out. Apparently some "non-nicotine" e-cigs actually do contain small amounts of it. It all comes down to money and be it in Israel or the USA the cigarette lobby is very powerful. The interesting thing is that Russia has banned smoking in certain places including public parks. No diubt Putin will use his Putin Youth Nashe to beat up smokers!
4. Dang!
Bill ,   New York, USA   (09.16.13)
But I just downloaded all these e-cigarettes into my browser and was looking forward to having them on my iPhone and sharing them with Siri.
5. now ENFORCE the law
Ellen ,   Netanya/NYC   (09.16.13)
It is great that the law is being strengthened. It would be better if it were enforced. Bus stations and the light rail station are still terrible when it comes to smokers ( why no, "No smoking" signs') OUtside seating--even is small areas like in front of food establishments on Rechov Yaffo make it not only impossible to eat there but almost impossible to walk by. I once said something to an owner--they literally laughed in my face!
6. #1Agreed but if people are stupid and smoke its their right!
Dee Bee ,   The Galilee, Israel   (09.16.13)
However smokers do NOT have the right to inflict non-smokers and CHILDREN with smoke from their cigarettes and their lungs! Every time we go into a store or supermarket the security guard of his friends or the store staff or the public are standing in the entrance and we have to breathe in their cigarette smoke! How many times have we seen parents holding their little kids and even babies blowing smoke into their faces. Under 18 year olds "may not" buy cigarettes but there is nothing in the law which prevents their friends, parents or even strangers buying cigarettes for them. Once again the problem is ENFORCEMENT! One would think that the local authorities which are supposed to enforce these laws and are always crying poverty would enforce the anti-smoking laws and levy the fines that are pretty heavy. But no, the inspectors don't want to get involved in arguments with the public. According to the National Cancer Association 10,000 Israelis die EVERY year, among them 1,000 passive smokers, from smoking associated diseases. The Government is saying that in 10 or 20 years there won't be enough money to pay pensions. Well, with 10,000 a year dying, that bill will be reduced but the state medical bill will be huge! Time for the Ministry of Health, the Economic Ministry and the Environmental Protection Ministry to pull their fingers out and protect the non-smoking public and, most important, the children of this country from the poison of cigarette smoke!
7. I never even realised there were any laws
zionist forever   (09.16.13)
You go to your average mall you see plenty of people smoking and nobody ever says anything. Don't think I have ever even seen a no smoking sign except on busses and even then I have seen soldiers light up on the bus. I was even at a Macabbe medical centre the other week and there were people in the waiting area to see doctors and smoking so if there are rules on smoking they are never enforced, even young kids buy cigarettes individually at kiosks. If there are law nobody enforces them so the e smokers have nothing to worry about.
8. E-cigarettes give off a toxic gas that no one should breathe
Rivkah   (09.16.13)
in, smoker or those around the e-smoker. Better to give up smoking and put a pacifier in your mouth if that is what it takes.

You are so worried about the effects of cigarette smoke, but did you know that a car puts out way more dangerous pollutants than cigarettes? I'll stop smoking in public, when others stop driving in public. Now that is fair.
10. I am alergic to gasoline causes much more harm
Jerusalemite   (09.17.13)
This is becoming a joke. Next it will be anyone who is sick and contagious can't stand next to people or be in public areas because they may harm others. What about car fumes, what about factories in cities, ridiculous.
11. To 10
(09.17.13)
Anyone who IS sick should definitely NOT stand next to people who aren't. Did your mother not teach this to you? Have respect for others and their children and cover your mouth when you sneeze please. And, there is nothing, absolutely no health benefits, in cigarettes. How can you compare the two?
12. Smoking Ban! Good Luck
Daniel ,   Israel   (10.08.13)
Who really cares, laws are simply suggestions in this country nothing more. Such as; Driving on sidewalks, Illegal but everyone does it....good luck with acting like America.....
13. Lies Lies and more Lies!
Roee   (06.21.14)
Ethylene glycol ? in a normal country Dr zeev would be prosecuted on those lies
