Once again, this good man speaks a message of genuine compassion and wide acceptance, humbly calls himself (and no one else!) a sinner, and we get snide jeers in response. go ahead--sneer and clap your taloned hands in self-satisfied glee. His message will win out. I, for one, as a gay man and a Catholic, take him as my role model and great comfort. He is kind, humble, and determined to move his church away from narrow moralities to the wider world where we all really live. He is changing our world day by day, one simple act of kindness after another.

I believe that his words are desperately needed and not merely by the Catholic Church but by all religions. Most religious leaders conduct themselves with an astounding degree of arrogance. We are all just people trying to navigate our way through a complex world - irrespective of whether we have a fancy title or gown. Being gay is wrong - yet so many Catholic Priests raped young boys in their care. I respect this man's humility immensely. I hope they reinforce the glass on the Pope-mobile even more.

So much for "Thou shall not kill" as written in various places in the Bible. It abortion time. Mind you better choices need to be available to women. The Bible prohibits homosexuality. But the church appears to disagree with G-d. Man knows better. Mind you it is easier to criticism gays. I worry about my opinion if I was one. There is noting in the Bible to say contraception is wrong but the church does. Well here i agree with a change. Ordination of women, interesting. There is nothing definitive in the Bible to prohibit it. Strongly implied yes. But the boys won't give that one up. Oh well the Catholic Church has never used the Bible as a guide or rule book. More of a coffee table book.

last Pope of the Roman Catholic Church that will crumble under his UNScriptural leadership. Obviously, he has never read the Holy Scriptures and is not in the Lord's camp. He needs to be removed from office immediately.

The Church no longer teaches that the Earth is flat with the centre of the Universe in Jerusalem. The cosmos no longer revolves around a flat earth. It no longer teaches that disease, plague and pestilence is the result of of sin. Crops no longer fail due to 'God's' displeasure at man's behaviour. The deformed and the disabled are no longer considered the result of sin by the parents. The wealthy are no longer considered 'blessed' and 'fruitful' in accordance with Holy Scripture. Women have equal rights after 1900 years of Church discrimination. Slavery is no longer sanctioned and accepted due to Scriptural interpretation and believers of other denominations and religions are no longer burned at the stake. So what has happened? Has the Bible changed its words? Has G-d changed His mind? Or have human beings simply re-interpreted the meaning of the Holy Word after the Age of Enlightenment and the advent of scientific and technological affirmation? If so, then the Pope has every right to re-interpret the Bible's stance on homosexuality. If the Church's opinion and teaching on all of the above points has been altered then it can alter its teaching on gays too.
