1. Sanctimonious Haredim trample Tora principles with impunity
Sage of the Age ,   Israel   (09.21.13)
so meticulous toward ritual Tora declares Hashem hates such hypocrites AND it gives all Jews a bad name AND its chilul Hashem
2. Moan about child subsidy cuts
gp ,   tel aviv   (09.21.13)
... but a blemish-free (artificially helped along) fruit, no problem to spend what most people get as a pension for a month. Great sense of priorities.
3. Embarrassingly ridiculous.....
get a bloody life.
4. #1
Zvika ,   Jerusalem   (09.21.13)
I didn't see anything in the article that indicated hareidim. What is with you people??
5. Jews hunt out best etrog for Sukkot
Lazerbenabba ,   London, England   (09.21.13)
It is only a bloody lemon for goodness sake. Please explain to me the real significance of something sour, albeit looking rather nice, which has anything to do with any religious validity; of course to the pedantic it is the process rather than the essence of a religion that is important.
6. Total waste of money
Haim ,   TA   (09.22.13)
Get a lemon and swing it around if you must, such a waste of money when children are starving.
7. Could It Be Shared?
Christy ,   Boston, US   (09.22.13)
So expensive in these days when everyone is trying to save money. Could a group of people go in on one and share it so the price for each is low?
8. 7 - Christy: Absolutely! Enjoy!
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   (09.22.13)
9. Don't Work. Don't Pay Tax but #300 for a lemon!
Dudu ,   Israel   (09.22.13)
I wonder if Riki Cohen from Hadera bought an etrog? Actually, seeing the queues at Ben Gurion Airport, she probably took the Cohen family overseas, probably accompanies by "starving Haredim who call our police and soldiers "Nazis"!
10. A New Prayer over the Etrog
Israeli ,   Israel   (09.22.13)
Blessed art thou O Lord for $300 to buy an Etrog instead of educating our children and for teaching us how to fleece the country dry of NIS40 billion!
11. All the above comments could be from Der Stürmer
Moishe ,   Golutsk   (09.23.13)
Looks like this site is very popular with Nazis and other Jew haters who by some reason use Israeli addresses.

Your comment is unfortunately typical of the religious faction, that can not bear nor understand any contradiction to the Status Quo of narrow minded religious dogma. As I have said above at #5, you and your ilk are more enamoured with the process than the tenets of true religious/ moral belief. Where in the Torah does it praise the gross expenditure on a fruit to enhance the religious experience? What is even more galling is your assertion that this criticism is related to the evil perpetrated on the Jewish people by the Nazis. Perhaps, in some way your comments about fellow Jews is more compatible with your Nazi associated ideas...unless you are of my beliefs you are less than me.
13. 8 , the self proclaimed Jew !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.23.13)
Who can't , with reason , give any name of a Orthodox Rabbanut that recognises his so called conversion .
14. Christy , i confirm what this so called Jew said
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.23.13)
Yes , not everyone needs personal "four species" . Average Etrogim sell for less than 10 US$ here in Israel . It's the blessing that is the most important for believing people . Etrogim that sell for 300 US$ are the very rare 100 % perfect ones , i didn't see one at this price at the 4 species market in my town .
15. Why is it more acceptable to pay..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (09.24.13)
lots of money for diamonds or other needless luxury articles that satisfy our ego? A nice etrog gives pleasure to the Jewish soul. Not only Haredim have their own Suka and buy etrogim. Sukoth sameah to ALL Jews.
16. Ora , Diamonds are forever
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.25.13)
while a etrog , how nice he can be , has a very short life . But if a very nice , and expensive , etrog gives pleasure to a religious soul , and he can afford it , why not ? Have a fine Simcha Tora , full of JOY with your family .
