What you are stating is true but many in Israel especially their leaders don't want to listen to the fact and try to push the US to do their own dirty jobs.

The Israeli diplomacy simply has to move on, the present situation cannot be cemented and maintained, especially not now when the global world seems to be moving into mutual negotiations and decision making. If the major power brokers start to make decisions and agreements outside, or even inside of the UN, with true and meaningful deals without the previous cynical "veto wielding", Israel simply cannot afford to stay on the sidelines or oppose such moves. It is not abut "trusting", or "giving up" it is about dealing wisely following the wind and taking initiative. Israel could become a surprise facilitator in any negotiation regarding the Middle East positioning themselves to achieve the best possible outcome.
