there is no interdiction to marry youngsters of 12 or 13 years old. A father can even marry his daughter to another boy or man when she is 3 years old . She has the right to annul the marriage when she is more or less 12. We shouldn't forget that people did not live beyond 45 years old a few hundred years ago and that many babies were deadborn. So it was a matter of survival for families to marry early. It may have changed in the wealthy countries but not in poor countries and islamic countries where girls have no rights . Not because the west thinks it is wrong but rather it is a universally accepted notion that we should educate our children the best possible. At age 15 children must be at high school getting ready for college. If they get married at that age how will they take care of themselves let alone a new born baby? What will their future look like as under educated people? What future will they be able to provide for their new born?

It is possible for those two to have a normal life, happy and satisfying, but they could have it also without getting married. In Gaza in particular, it will be hard for those two to create an economic unit that will be able to support an expanding family. I hope they will be informed enough to use birth control methods until they are ready to successfully support any children. Marriage is a contract that in many cases detracts from happiness. The couple's roles are defined in a marriage, but as singles the couple can have their happiness spontaneously. Really, there is not a good reason to get married before the mature age of 85.
