The tradition is that circumcision is done on the 8th day, you may wonder why? why not the 16th or 5th month? Who said the 8th day ... ok it was god. Europe today is by and large religiously moderate to secular so how can you pin the blame on Christians?, this decision was taken on the basis of a broader discussion of the Human rights of a Child, not on any religious considerations of Europe's Muslim and Jewish populations, and is certainly not motivated by Antisemitism or Islamaphobia. That said I personally don't agree with the ruling I believe ritual Circumcision is a matter of religious liberty for Jews and Muslims and acknowledge the many health benefits circumcision brings and strongly support the Jewish and Muslim right to choose whether or not to circumcise a child.
