1. Marijuna should not be legalized in Israel for this reasons
Jacob E ,   Holon, Israel   (10.19.13)
Our Mandatory National Service: Because of the army draft and national service, and the popularity of marijuana with youth, it would cause problems amonth those serving the country, despite any regulations that would be put in place. Other countries would be much less of a problem. However, until we can have a time where all of the children of this country need to protect it, I don't think it should be legal. Again, any other country would not have a problem, however I don't think this would work well here.
2. but how much will it cost to treat the new addicts?
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (10.19.13)
3. MARIJUANA
SHELLY ,   SOUTH AFRICA   (10.19.13)
THEY MUST MAKE IT LEGAL PEOPLE ARE USING IT ANYWAY REVENUE FOR THE GOVERNMENT
4. Cash crop? What about health impact?
David Turner ,   Richmond, USA   (10.19.13)
Moving towards "legalization of marijuana in the US neglects the impact of legal alcohol in that country: "income from alcohol is a small fraction of the cost of treating the impact of the drug to the health of citizens, the health of the economy in which drug alcohol brings in billions of dollars of sales "profits" and tax income... and annually costs hundreds of thousands of lives; cost the US economy many times the "tax income and corporate profits" in the hundreds of billions of dollars per year, and that figure fails to account for lost worker productivity, etc. Marijuana is claimed to be less hazardous than drug alcohol, and may be. But that does not make it "healthy." The most immediate and least acknowledged impact on the user's body is the lungs. The brain and myriad bodily organs are more generally acknowledged. Like drug alcohol it has a profound impact on worker productivity. As drug alcohol it is a mood depressant and, as all "recreational" drugs, a known toxin. Does Israel really want to go down this road to satisfy a minority urge to "legalize" as "free speech"?
5. legalize it!!!
Ivan ,   Haifa   (10.19.13)
6. Another benefit...
Misha ,   Tel Aviv   (10.19.13)
If legalized, much of the money spent on marijuana would stay in the country instead of going abroad to finance criminals and terrorist organizations.
7. marijuana should be banned
Berk ,   Amsterdam   (10.19.13)
The israeli government better starts to warn their people against marijuana instead of having people think it is ''a legal thing to smoke''. Lots of young Dutch suffer from schizophrenia and psychosis, due to this ''innocent'' soft drugs.
8. still get lung cancer
Dmitry ,   Israel   (10.19.13)
If you smoke the stuff regularly, just like with cigarettes you're going to get lung cancer from putting fine particulates within your lungs. There would need to be a public health campaign against smoking it for that reason. But, maybe if it was legal, less people would do it after the novelty has worn off (like what is happening in the Netherlands apparently).
9. Cash benefits
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (10.19.13)
Just think how much state income legalized prostitution would generate....... What the hell, throw in porn of every kind and description - all of it kosher, of course - and nobody would have to pay taxes, anymore.
10. I agree with #6
Even_Balance ,   Beit Yehoshua   (10.19.13)
The fact is that millions of shekels from Marijuana and Hashish are going directly into the pockets of Hamas and Hizballah as well as to Beduin terror and criminal tribes in the Sinai etc. Legalizing it would send that money back into the Israeli economy instead buying missiles for them to fire at us. Personally, I would legalize it from the age of 21 and up. It should still be illegal for soldiers to use it though, and also banned for people driving vehicles etc - much like alcohol is.
11. It's just a matter of time before .....
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (10.19.13)
it has to be legalized...worldwide Washington State..Colorado...soon Uruguay The continuing conspiracy to demonize cannabis is fortunately losing momentum as people learn the truth of why it was banned in the first place Israel is the forerunner to medical marijuana research and the multi- billion business days 'of not finding a cure to cancer' are hopefully numbered.
12. THE DRUG DEALER DO NOT USE THEM BECAUSE ONLY MAKES MONEY
daniel ,   the world   (10.19.13)
drug addiction is a serious illness,it is a chronic brain disease with many possible factors-psychological,biological and social-that can increase the risk of addiction, physical effects of drug addiction vary depending on the drug but can include heart rhythm irregularities and heart attacks, breathing difficulties and respiratory arrest, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, poor musculoskeletal development, cramping and muscle weakness, kidney and liver damage, seizures and memory loss, and cancer.Psychological effects can include depression, hallucinations, paranoia and aggression if left untreatened or if the condition gets out of control, any of these effects can lead to death and social effects are often noticed by family and friends of someone addicted to drugs if you recognize a change in aggressiveness, selfishness, lying or a lack of interest in usual activities, you may be observing or experiencing the results of drug addiction
13. SLAVES DRUG,NARCOS BUSINESS
daniel ,   the world   (10.19.13)
the compulsive need to use drugs in order to function normally, the user suffers from withdrawal, compulsive and repetitive use, compulsive behavior, psychiatric disorders, physiological dependence, drug dependence, substance abuse, physical dependence by habit.DRUGS RUIN LIVES
14. Cannabis, Pain, Money and Who Gets It
Mark David ,   Chicago, USA   (10.19.13)
I have been smoking and eating cannabis for 32 years. No lung cancer, no decrease in lung function. Cannabis smoke is not harmful in the way tobacco smoke is harmful. In 1996 I had a construction job accident that injured my back. I have 3 fractured discs in my spine. 2 small ones and 1 large fracture. At times, it's very painful and dibillitating. Prescription drugs turn me into a zombie, and unable to work. They also started to damage my liver and kidneys. Using cannabis daily and hourly allows me to work, have clear thinking and get the pain relief and inflammatory relief I need to keep on working and living a normal life. I would rather cannabis be legal, so Gov. gets their cut of the profits and not enemy Arabs and not the Mafias. Legal or not, people like me will continue to use cannabis, buy it, grow it and be given the G-d given pain relief that we need.
15. "LEGAL DRUGS"
daniel ,   the world   (10.19.13)
the pharmaceutical trade is one of the most profitable activity after finance, patented drugs medicines released in the last 10 years. They spent only 14% of the money on research and development and 31% on marketing and administration whenever you hear the drug companies explaining why they have to charge so much for their products-perhaps as they are denying their lifesaving aids drugs to the millions ill people- the plea is that they need money to develop new drugs, that is not true if they spend twice as much on marketing as on research and development, this unhappy collision of facts makes them look very evil indeed. They also charge this money in slighty evil ways, drugs have 10 years on patent at the same time, the number of me too drugs has risen, making up to half of all new drugs,me too drugs are an inevitable function of research driven by a market, they are rough copies of drugs made by another company but they are different enough for a manufacturer to claim its own patent, they are merely a breakthrough in making money again that is reasonably evil
16. More tourism
ישראל ,   תל אביב   (10.19.13)
We could be the Amsterdam (Netherlands) of the Med and Middle east, everybody smokes it here and maybe cut the taxes on rent and car ownership instead
17. Israelis (and Americans) should kick the pot habit
Ziv   (10.20.13)
The drug damages the brain. Let other people enslave themselves to drugs if they want to. The Jewish mind is our most precious human resource. We have enough enemies that we should avoid making ourselves slow and stupid and making their jobs easier.
18. Yes to the Legalization of marijuana
BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (10.20.13)
if for no other reason, 40,000 people have died on the American Mexican border due to a weed. American jails are filled with minor dealers while the king pins run free. Not to mention that marijuana is the second cash crop in America. Whether or not we parents know it, our kids are smoking while we discuss ... Where's the logic here? Legalize it, tax it and free up police departments, jails, courts lawyers to take on more important matters. Like terrorism.

20. the state shouldn't make money by drug dealing
zionist forever   (10.20.13)
You can get lung cancer from marihuana just as easily as you can from cigarettes. so we will just be doing more to increase cancer rates. We already have a problem from cigarettes. How many car accidents are we going to have happen with people driving under the influence of marijuana? We can make it illegal of course just we make drinking alcohol and driving illegal but people do it anyway being able to go into a store and buy marijuana will just increase problem. We do not know the effect of long term use on the brain we wouldn't find that out for another 10-20 use of regular use. Now and again its not likely to do any damage but when you can buy just as easy as a pack cigrarettes then we might have brain problems develop. It should certainly be available on prescription for medical reasons same way you can buy morphine on prescription but for recreational use no even if it would make money.[
21. Hey, if Israel wants more cancer and cardiovascular patients
Rivkah   (10.21.13)
from the toxicity of marijuana that is 100x more toxic than nicotine, by all means that would boost the medical industrial complex business. Lots more patients...but in Israel that would be higher government costs with socialized medicine. Oh, and then there are all the train and vehicle and other accidents from marijuana users who lose their senses like drunkards and are operating dangerous equipment. Insurance costs would go up so that is good for the insurance industry to make more money off people who don't have much to pay more.
22. Never did me any harm
