1. The troubled times before Mashiach
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (10.07.13)
We are living in the most momentous days. There will be days of tsairyos gedoloyos as the yids pronounce it. Many do not even recognize it. To them everything is routine. The Yiddishfolke know that these are extraordinary times. B' Zchus Ha Tzadikim we will see the days of Mashiach in our lifetime.
2. No religious maniac is a great mind
Dan   (10.07.13)
Not even a good mind. If you believe what he believed, you either can't think, or you prefer not to.
3. He was just a man.
Daniel   (10.07.13)
4. "missed in every Israeli household" not ours
Keren ,   Haifa   (10.07.13)
The sun will still come up tommorow tommorow ....
5. alien culture
Naftali ,   Seattle, WA   (10.07.13)
Yiddish culture is an alien culture in Israel.
6. 4.
Birdi ,   Israel   (10.07.13)
No matter what you & your household think, showing a tiny amount of respect for the dead, would be appreciated! plus setting a good example to your kids is required!
7. This is my polite comment
Haim   (10.07.13)
No great loss
8. Bnei Zoynos
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (10.07.13)
All of the heretic bastards that are enjoying the passing of this Torah Giant.
9. I will never judge this man...God will judge him now..
Al   (10.07.13)
All I know is what I heard from him. My parents lost their entire families in Europe. My late dad survived Auschwitz. My late mother hid in a field like a rabbit for three years. My two sons are frum. My youngest serves in the tank corps where just last week one of his own was wounded by a misfired gun. My kids didn't use their frumkeit to skirt their duty. They can learn with the best of them. What this Rabbi stated some years ago about the holocaust survivors cause great personnel distress to my late parents. They didn't deserve that coming from a supposed Torah scholar. I will not judge him, however God will and may he have mercy.
10. to DAN (#2)
daniel   (10.07.13)
or maybe he thinks and you do not, and therefore you desagree with the "religious maniac"... read more than wikipedia Dan, open your mind and start thinking, open your heart and stop hating
11. Those who say no loss
Moshe ,   Uk   (10.07.13)
Show their ignorance. A retard doesn't mourn when he loses a diamond because he doesn't appreciate it's worth. All those who do not understand the loss to the Israeli people should bury their heads in shame- not exclaim their sad ignorance.
12. 1 Dror. The rebirth and resilience...
robert ,   antwerp belgium   (10.07.13)
of the state of Israƫl, make it, thanks to God, an extraordinary time. Let's us just pray that there be no tsairyos gedoloyos (great pains) before the Mashiah comes because the Jewish people has suffered already more than enough. I suppose you mean Jewish people when you say Yiddishfolke and not just Ashkenazim.

Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (10.07.13)
Yup, don't mind me, it is only my feeble attempts at facetious and sardonic humor. All Jews that keep the faith will benefit from the days of Mashiach.
14. Respect?
Arielush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (10.07.13)
I respect and honor those who respect and honor me. Ovadia Yosef had no respect for women, reform or conservative Jews. To me, he was emblematic of the dangerous fanaticism.
15. Who will tell Shas & their minions what to do now?
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (10.07.13)
Deri said it best: ""How will we be left alone? Who will lead us? We remain orphans." The danger Yosef posed was that he was so revered, he did the thinking for all of the Shas zombies. If he told them all to go jump off a bridge, they would probably do it. A great leader teaches people to think for themselves & make decisions because they believe they are the right decisions, not because someone told them to.
16. Amalek!
gp ,   Tel Aviv   (10.07.13)
Divisive, misogynistic, racist and homophobic. Great, I hardly think so.
17. Rabbi Yosef was and is still an inspiration.
(10.07.13)
Rabbi Yosef's legacy will live on. Comments he made at times may not have been appreciated but the foundation of what he said were always in defense of Israel, Jews and ultimately righteousness. He exalted the ladies and gentlemen in his organization and rightly set high standards for them. He will be missed, his legacy will live on and his expectations of the Jewish Holy Scriptures will continue to be in hearts, minds and actions to bring them to fruition.

Birdi ,   Israel   (10.07.13)
"Rav Ovadia Josef had no respect for women?'' I think not. Notable rulings of The Rav were, allowing (the wives of) hundreds of MIA soldiers to re-marry. Reform & Conservatism Judaisim blinds you!
19. To # 10 (remarking to #2 )
A.C.Guard ,   USA   (10.08.13)
You sound just like the Obama supporters in America. If one does not agree with their way of thinking they are labled "haters". Why? Just because they don't agree with you?
20. #1 How will you recognize him?
Eliyahu ,   Rehovot   (10.08.13)
If he is from the house of David Hamelech he will need a valid genealogy, but all those were destroyed 19 centuries ago. Will he also come from Arab occupied Beit Lekhem? You have no objective way to identify him. At least Ch-bad looks in the Tanakh for him.
21. 15 Very well put.
Eliyahu ,   Rehovot   (10.08.13)
But the people using him as an excuse for their lack of righteousness and compassion are just as reponsible as he. A mind and soul are terrible things to waste.
22.  Clarified Judaism, he was honest when
Martin   (10.08.13)
he taught that Jews are superior and the non-jews are animals in human form. Put on earth to serve the chosen.
23. The Arab world mourned....
Baruch Me ,   New York   (10.08.13)
Not. Abbas is not the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, let alone arabs in general. Not one arab mourned the riddance of rabbsi Ovy. He showed great love towards the arabs and gentiles lol The Ovadia carnival will soon come to an end (sigh, I hear from the fed up locals). Repent for your sins, rabbsi Ovy.
