for many years, taking the teeth out of Army , guardians of Ataturk's legacy, Only Erdogan was more subtle and patient than Morsi. The secularists flexed their muscles over the park , but could not stand up to the vicious force that put them down An army coup coordinated with the seculars is now the minimum required to challenge the Sultan of Istanbul

You may disagree with Erdogan, but taking out our Jewish biases towards the guy, you MUST admit that he is a good leader for his nation, and as apolitician who is decrying the homicides deeds of "terrorist" Assad, he visioned the participation and legitimisation of the Kurds share of the economic, political and social pies. Now, Erdogan is far more tolerant than Europe and Quebec with their Social Adherence (which includes the disapearance of the Magen David, Turban, headscarf and the Djellabah, the Cross.... in public setting). I say get over it: Erdogan has principles that are not too far from Democratic precepts as Rousseau would want not as Robespierre. I hope Israel can, and should, mimic upon some of those ideals: for integration and human dignity.

What do you think about this: TV speaker Gozde kansu was fired from her job because AKP high brass Huseyin Celik complained about her dress being too revealing (I saw it it was nothing out of ordinary in western standard). Don't you think AKP is practicing selective democracy? Democracy for head scarves but ban for modern outfits or secular way of life?

the important thing is to notice i didint give credit to akp in my post for their so called advanced democracy but i find this move to be correct one yes ofcourse akp has selective weird sense of democracy all sane people can see this why did u need to ask me this? i thought i was clear on this one with my previous posts btw personally i really hate to see womens wearing headscarf etc but i dont have the right to tell em what they should wear

There is nothing wrong with a dress code. Airlines have them, banks have them, offices have them, etc.etc. I don't think the Turkish government (or any other) will allow women with mini +tattoo+revealing top or men with nos/ear rings + colored hair + leather trouser/jacket into their government building........or even into the university So much for ''free choices!
10. Jews should be able to relate to this
Mohamed ,   Dallas, Texas, USA   (10.08.13)
From what I understand Israel is a secular country, but those who are religious Jews I'm sure are able to wear their yarmulkes and other religious garb in public institutions. Taking away this right from those who choose to display their devotion to Judaism would be wrong. Wouldn't you agree?

Anton: I had a post to AVouslika before which was never published. It was mentioning that Erdogan has principles similar to Rousseau's Democratic precepts. Since that was not posted I wrote a similar post to you mentioning Erdogan's selective democracy only to his followers and not to the other half of the Turks. I also reminded that Erdogan while he was Istanbul Mayor had said that 'Democracy to him is a bus. When he reaches his destination he will get off that bus". This does not fit JJ Rousseau's democratic precepts. As for your comment in #8: You say that you don't like the women wearing head scarves etc but admit that you don't have the right to tell them what to wear. However AKP top Brass (Huseyin Celik in that case) finds it appropriate to tell a TV anchor what to wear and pressure the TV channel owners to fire her from her job. I believe our South American friend here must learn the truth about AKP so that in the future can be more objective.

anton ,   istanbul   (10.08.13)
david you know the saying democracy is two wolf and a sheep deciding what to eat for dinner akps democracy doesnt fit ideal democratic values vouliska this is a move made for akps agenda not for further democratization of country

their absolute claims quickly move into a justification of violence against someone who rejects that claim, beware the charismatic leader that limits the intellectual freedom of its followers, has become dangerous when you start to get individuals who are the sole interpreters and get people who follow them blindy, the end time turn lethal, though, when followers decide that will speed up that end time by conducting some dramatic or violent act where the end justifies the means, those rationalizations are so persasive that movements that avoid them stand out, radicals and extremism justifies almost any means
15. This is like the ban that Quebec is attempting to push
Dave ,   Montreal, Canada   (10.08.13)
Now Quebec is going to be below Turkey in human rights if they pass their "charter of values"

David Isarel ,   New York, USA   (10.08.13)
You are correct. Everyone must be free to wear what they like but as I mentioned in prior posts this AKP government influenced a TV station to fire a woman anchor for wearing a dress that was somehow revealing but not more than any anchor in USA. If you want democracy for all then you must also put up with the way of life of others. For example you can not expect everyone to be fasting in Ramadan. Unfortunately under AKP in Turkey people are being harassed for smoking or eating during Ramadan. A few years ago one man was thrown down into a river from a bridge for smoking in Ramadan. If it is selective freedom for some and not for others it is not democracy.
