This may be a stupid rule, but his refusal to follow protocol is insulting. If he had some religious objection, and there is no indication he did, he could have worn a hat. Somehow I doubt he refuses to remove his shoes when entering a mosque.
32. When in Rome do as the Romans do
(10.10.13)
what this man did is mildly insulting and obnoxious. It is the same sort of insult which any group gives when it refuses to conform to the norms of the host society. Jews have every right to feel insulted if this happened in Israel.
33. Who are the rudest people?
Dan   (10.10.13)
1. Israelis 2. Serbs 3. Greeks BTW I'm an Israeli.

It is not a Synagogue, it's a museum with ashes of dead people in it My Neice is going to Auschwitz next week, she is taking stones from Naboo to put on the railway tracks. A sign of respect and an attempt to get extra credit for her Religious Education GCSE. The Hollocaust is no longer about remembrance, it is a way for Israel to get money of Germany, and a guilt trip for the rest of Europe to keep them quiet about the persecution of the Palestinians Thankfully our politicians are realising this
35. You always bend over backwards excusing anti jewish snubs

36. It's about respect...
Dave ,   Montreal, Canada   (10.11.13)
..and considering the growing nazi movement in Greece, you would think he would set an example.
37. Typical peasant ignorance
Mikis Rachistocratis ,   Greece   (10.12.13)
Disrespect and ignorance don't add much to Greece or its failing and lazy government. Pity that the sane Greeks have to suffer as a result of these types.
38. Typical ignorant Orthodox attitude
Isus Paranoidis   (10.12.13)
Greece has a long way to go to regain its past Millenias-old polytheist glory. Disrespecting or insulting Judaism - which is the documented father of any and all monotheistic religions, particularly of all kinds of Christianism, is really not the best way to do it. I'll keep that in mind while planning my next trip in the area.
39. Samaras without jarmulka
Carmen Sporidis ,   Rimbach/ Germany   (10.12.13)
in Greece we honored the dead with bare our heat. I don't believe the Greek PM have in mind ti insult the victems of the holocoust
40. Greek PM refuses to wear kippa at Yad Vashem
Chasha Kuzecki ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.13.13)
That man is not Jewish; why is he being required to wear a kippa? By non-Jews they uncover their heads out of respect. Also, maybe he felt like he was being proselytized by being so strongly encouraged to wear a kippa.
41. Jews never put on crucifixes or hold New Testaments
Mike   (10.13.13)
at Christian sites so why on earth would they expect a Christian to put on religious J ewish garb? Have some respect for other people's religion; you wouldn't want to be forced to wear a Christian prayer shawl, so don't do it to someone else.
42. I won't wear kippa in my life from now on.
Miron ,   USA   (10.14.13)
I did it out of reverence to people inviting me to various occasions in the past... but since the people seem to lack basic reverence to own dignity it seem to perpetuate their arrogance, which my duty is to challenge.
43. Yad va shem
steven ,   paris   (10.14.13)
J.Tel Aviv,, In reply to your Comment, about Yad Va shem,, We are not talking Religion here,, BUT RESPECT for a Nations Suffering.Greece and Israel are supposed to have Diplomatic ties, and "supposedly good ones, What better way to show ONES RESPECT to the Living and to the dead ,than to abide by the Jewish Custom of covering ones head in certain circustances. If Greeces PM had done this in a MUSLIM country, ALL Hell would have broken loose.and to think that Greece at this time is fighting NAZISM!!! I fail to see why This Lack of respect by the greek pm,for the most respected places in memory of the Holocaust, should be ignored.
