JJJ   (10.09.13)
Lets understand, their airport is right on the border, but Israel is forbidden? Now they use their favorite sentence, we will have to reconsider our relationship with Israel. Mr. Jordanian, without Israel you are history
2. It is obvious that Jordan hates to compete in an honest way
Candy ,   USA   (10.09.13)
That is why it resorts to threats and innuendos!
3. What's the need of such an airport!!?
(10.09.13)
It's not like Israel is big. There are already two airports there! A third one would be an ecological disaster
4. Jordan's right, it's a terrible idea
Guy ,   Chicago   (10.09.13)
It seems almost certain that pilots will confuse frequencies, VORs, VASI lights, and runways. In the past, Israel has raided the offices of PNA television stations broadcasting too close to Ben Gurion Airport's frequencies, so how can Israel justify expanding Eilat Airport when it's already in such close proximity to King Hussein International Airport? Why not expand Ovda/Uvda/whatever Airport and repair its runway, where planes are less likely to crash into each other and hotels? Regardless of the margin added, Eilat Airport will never be able to handle wide-body airplanes from international carriers.
5. is that ironic
Mark ,   Israel   (10.09.13)
I bet u have never visited aqaba !! their hotels provide top tier, experiences. Also in aqaba, Jordan started to develop a city as equal magnificent as dubai !
6. Why not one airport?
Neal ,   Minneapolis USA   (10.12.13)
Why not revisit the idea of a joint airport? If it's so close to the border already, one side could have an Israeli terminal, the other a Jordanian. It is not beyond possibility that Israel and Jordan could jointly run the airport and its air-traffic management systems. What's lacking is the political will -- or maybe the Jordanian government's courage to do something else sensible in the face of the Jordanian population's near-implacable hatred of Israel. Terminals on each side of the border could reduce this all to a business deal -- and business deals frequently occur in the face of popular passions and political tensions.
7. Eilat Airport
Ralph ,   Rishon   (10.14.13)
For years foreign airlines have been using Ovda Airport for their flights to Eilat. So why waste all that money on planning and building the new airport, and getting into international problems with Jordanians and ICAO. Why not just expand and update Ovda?
