1. Rabbis and reporting molesters
Larry ,   LA   (10.16.13)
There is a mistake made by religious people and some rabbis that feel that reporting a religious person to the police is a sin called being a moser. Nothing can be further from the truth. It is a religious obligation to prevent these molesters or other such vermin from attacking other victims. Since today's Beit Din has no enforcement power and only the civil courts and police have this power, it is a religious requirement to report suspected offenders to the police ASAP! This message should be included in all media messages to this effect.

This rabbi is correctly being investigated, but look at what happened with the Bar Hanoar manager. He raped tens, maybe hundreds of vulnerable youth and no one cared because they were not heterosexual. This discrimination must stop: there is no reason to prosecute heterosexual rape and ignore homosexual rape.

There is also the possibility that the 14 year old girl did not want the publicity or the court apperance or the prospect of her sister's husband going to prison. The rabbi may have been influenced by the girl or her family.
