The FD2000 (HQ-9 ) is a Chinese re-engineering of the Russian S-300PMU/PMU1/PMU2 systems. That is, it is equivalent to the Russian S-400 or S-500. In other words, very, very deadly for any aircraft or cruise missiles that enter their operating area. China has now recovered its development and production line investment and can now sell the FD2000 for less than half what Russia charges for its surplus S-300 systems.
