1. No! that can't be true
Talula ,   Israel   (10.16.13)
our government told us that we weathered the global financial fallout and we are doing well............NOT!!!!!!!!
2. What proportion of the poor are Haredi?
Seth ,   Boston, USA   (10.16.13)
I wonder how those figures break down. What proportion of non-Haredi Jewish Israelis are at risk vs. Haredim vs. Arabs? I'm not surprised that the overall figure is trending upward given the Haredi and Arab birthrates.
3. No 2 - Does it matter?
(10.16.13)
Arabs and Haredi are Israelis. It's good enough for statistics. Period
4. what reports never tell you is why just statistics
zionist forever   (10.16.13)
HAREDI make a significant portion of the population and alot ( not all ) do not get jobs so no job your at risk. ARABS they are typically at the bottom of he education scale and get the low paid jobs RECESSION - Israel survived the worst of the recession but not all and that along with more imports makes living costs higher. HOUSING BUBBLE - property in Israel has always been expensive but last 5 years or so there has been a property bubble where they have reached ridiculous levels. People have to pay more to buy homes then mortgage will be higher, investors who buy to rent if they have to pay a premium they will rent for a premium. Then there is the big problem that Israelis have always been expected to work harder and earn less than their western counterparts and I don't think there is a solution to that. Whilst poverty might be an issue its easy to just make a list of statistics but you look at problems makes more sense.

6. It goes to show
Leon ,   Miami, USA   (10.16.13)
It's annoying how the Haredim don't work or contribute to the state at all.
7. Ora , 5 , can you give some references ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.16.13)
Youth who are NOT at all educated can't find a serious job . And that's the case of the yeshiva "students" , they only studied inutile materials with no possibilities of a fine job in the future [ some exeptions exist of course ]
8. 7 Tora study inutile material?
ORA ,   JERUSALEM[   (10.16.13)
That's an insult. Here one of the many benefits of respecting Tora . Haredi women have 70% less breast cancer than Secular women.[Ynet] I grant you the last word, since you are unable to discuss without insulting.
9. poverty
Larry ,   Israel Nir Oz   (10.16.13)

(10.16.13)
and Israelis go to greener academics. and the Israeli Nobel prizes abroad.
14. 8 , you apparently don't know me nor understand
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.17.13)
what articles say . Don't you know that when i say "inutile" it means that most of those "students" will never be able to make a living from it . Proof ? CBS stats : the two poorest Israeli Jewish towns are Modi'in Ilit and Beitar Ilit . In this town 64.3 % of men in age of working are unemployed . Both are ultra Orthodox . Less poor is an Arab town and then we have Bnei Berak . But , -please give the references i asked .
