31. Shame on Turkey and the US for its silence
Eric L ,   Chicago, USA   (10.17.13)
Shame on the Obama administration for trying to sweep this Turkish outrage under the rug!
32. Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama
Cameron ,   USA   (10.17.13)
Always the eternal sniveling about Obama. No matter the topic or theme, it forever spins down to a whining session about Obama. Endless.
33. Erdoturk
Ataturk   (10.17.13)
Erdogans Turkey should be never become part of the EEC and probably its better to not have them in Nato.
34. To #18
Eugen ,   London UK   (10.17.13)
I agree with you 100%. What gets me is how low he is prepare to stoop try and sub-ordinate Jews to HIS will to look good to his fellow muslims, Iran, Egypt etc.
35. David ignatius
anton ,   istanbul   (10.17.13)
the man who was the host of davos incident, considering his armenian backround i think this clever man does not want turkey and isreal to be close if you noticed he was the instigator of davos deliberetly cutting off erdoğans words he probably knew erdoğans temper would lead to break up in relations :) regardless i find it strange that he reported this spy story after seemingsly both country started to ease up on eachother as for the article i think it need to be corrected turkey disclosed 11 spy and one jewish bird :D, another thing is since turkey and isreal is still not frieds its logical turkey doesnt want isreali spies to operate in turkish soil against a 3rd country whats the fuss? some posters who doesnt know their limits suggest isreals to punish turkey but they dont say how? :)
36. But surely you'd be happy if
Samuel ,   Melbourne   (10.17.13)
Those spying on ISRAEL were caught
37. Cameron Cameron Cameron CameronCameron
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (10.17.13)
Yes Cameron the "eternal sniveling" as you call it about our "beloved puppet-prez" is justly deserved. He has debased our standing, diminished our troops, disrespects our Constitution. It's Kool Aid time, Cameron.
38. Mossad wisdom
SK ,   Tel Aviv   (10.17.13)
If the Mossad trusts this new Turkish government, I truly fear for the State of Israel.
39. There must be a very strong Retaliation-
sacha ,   Bilbao, Basque   (10.17.13)
a devastating one. This can not go unanswered.
40. To: No. 35
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.17.13)
Oh, there are lots of ways to punish Turkey. Turkish assets in foreign countries can meet with unfortunate accidents. Gantry cranes at the ports of Iskenderun and Mersin can topple over, effectively shutting down Turkey's already crippled shipping industry. Earthquake prone regions in Turkey can be subjected to very low frequency waves aimed at the most serious of Turkey's fault lines. Kurdish rebels who are determined not be shunted off to Iraq can be armed with very effective weapons which are superior to anything in Turkey's arsenal (keeping in mind, of course, that while Turkey is nominally a member of NATO, no one has given Turkey the keys to the executive washroom). There are a myriad of ways to punish Turkey. And I haven't really touched on the international aspects. Wouldn't it be simply dreadful if something bad were to happen to any number of Turkish embassies and consulates abroad? Your problem, my Turkish friend, is that you seriously overestimate Turkey's abilities while seriously underestimating Israel's. We can make you pay in ways you cannot imagine. Keep that in the forefront of what passes for your "brain." Compromising Israeli assets in Iran was a very bad mistake on the part of Turkey. And payback will be severe. Remember the horrible things that happened to Iran's computer networks? Do you really think that Turkey would be immune to a similar attack? Doesn't it alarm you that your banking networks can be destroyed with a series of keystrokes? An eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth. Erdogan made a critical mistake. A terminal one. As I have pointed out before, it is obvious that Erdogan's colon cancer has metastasized to his brain. Well, it didn't have far to travel. Turkey will pay. We have very long memories.
41. Keen from turkey
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.17.13)
Let me remind you that turkey did imprisoned in away - most of her male Jews in 1941 after the Unjust and racist Varlik Vergisi and 20th draft - which my father sufferd from- many sent to Ashkale, Afyon and Yozgat labor camps. But times are different now. This time if AKP does it there will be a price to pay. But I like your post nonetheless. It revealed your bigoted racist face.
42. To Those Who Consider Unfriendly to Israel
Moshe of Rockville ,   Rockville,MD USA   (10.17.13)
The comments made by many regarding the alleged closeness of the US president to Erdogan at the expense of the Jewish State are based on ignorance, hatred and prejudice. No president - and let me repeat - no president has provided Israel with more military aid and has co-operated with its defense to the extent he has since he came into office .Indeed, in addition to the $3.6 billion of annual military assistance and a half billion for the defensive missile systems protecting the Jewish State, there have been ongoing military "games' co-ordinating their defensive and offensive planning.
43. Anton, you are contradicting yourself
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.17.13)
For a long time. You were writing that it is better for Turkey and Israel to be apart but now you seem to be angry at Ignatius for breaking the new good relations. But anyway, the incident was known for a while. I used to think that Turks are Mert people, I still do but AKP and his supporters have proven to be kalles.
44. Curse for the sniths
Felipe ,   Madid/Spain   (10.17.13)
I pray for the brave spies and also for the curse for the culprits of this information , the jews must be carefull with the muslims, danger, danger.
45. Why are we trying to like Turkey?
Dan   (10.17.13)
46. Turkey disclosed to Iran
PAPO ,   New york USA   (10.17.13)
Turkey Should not be Part of NATO
47. why we cannot trust obama. he did this
ralph   (10.17.13)
48. a coincidence?
HaifaGuy   (10.17.13)
Is it a coincidence that Treacherous and Turkey start with the same letter?
49. trade
munzur ,   istanbul - turkey   (10.17.13)
israel is killing turkish nationals on a boat, turkey is selling israeli spies out, turkish pm shouting at israeli president etc. etc. and all of these happen to have not a slightest effect on the trade between the parties... I believe these two is playing the game of other, bigger parties. ME countries must stop playing these games and focus on the well-being on their populations...
50. #40 Stop your..
Harry ,   UK   (10.17.13)
..brain farts and hyperbole, you just sound silly. Israel will do nothing because it needs Turkey.
51. this is who olmert trusted??
milson   (10.17.13)
olmert shoujld be convicted for negligent international diplomacy as he trusted erdogan to vouch for assad. What a shmuck? And the courts bend over backwards to protect one of their own while many israelis have trouble making ends meets. What a rotten judiciary. erdogan yet was the one that bibi apologized to for nothing. This buffoon and islamic backstabber is totally unreliable- hey erdogan-we take back our apology since bibi is weak. And israelis- do not go to turkey while this guy who ran to nato crying about assad is still in power. There is no business to do with turkey until the turks throw out this phony stooge.
52. Munzur
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.17.13)
In the months to come you will be having local (mayoral) election all over Turkey. If you care about the future of Turkey to be a modern secular democracy and in peace with her neighbors then you must vote for change. Istanbul and Ankara must have new mayors who are not from AKP. In Istanbul Sarigul is coming soon. And after this in general elections vote out AKP from government also. You must create this change so that those young Turks who stood up agains pepper gaz and tainted Water sprays from TOMAs at Gezi parki did not suffer in vain. You must change for the memory of Ethem Sarisuluk, Ali and Ismail.
53. Turkish spies
arthurf ,   mokum   (10.17.13)
If Erdogan believes that it is hard to unveil the Turkish spies in Iran he will be very surprised soon...
54. david
anton ,   istanbul   (10.17.13)
i still think its bettr for turkey to stay away from isreal , i am not contradicting myself what i said is ignatius didint want good relations between 2 country thats it
55. sarah
anton ,   istanbul   (10.17.13)

56. 40 and 50
jean cohen   (10.17.13)
isarel needs to do what it does best: eliminate its ennemies. be they turks or otherwise. fidan just condemned himself to meet the 70 virgins
57. A good gesture from west to Iran on beginning of talks.
(10.17.13)
A message to Israel hands off Iran. Tremendous oil dollars and trillions of natural wealth Iran has is too valuable to give up on her. Israel is coming isolated and once more to face the Reality she has to act alone and not to count on allies if any..
58. It´s Erdogan, not Turkey
Barry ,   Tokyo   (10.17.13)
Let´s be careful to differentiate between the actions of the Turkish dictator. His links to the Muslim Brotherhood explains his behaviour towards Israel. Most Turkish people will turn on him once his sugar high economy implodes - as it has begun to do. Surely, he´ll blame the "interest rate lobby" again as he has done in the past.
59. Harry from UK #50
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.17.13)
Although I agree with your comments on Sarah's emotional tirade, that does not mean that Israel can not do anything about it. Also a country that reveals your intelligence resources is not a trusted friend and can not be needed no matter how difficult it may be. Let's not forget that Turkey has several soft spots at her belly.
60. I'm Frustrated with Israel.......
Calibi ,   Sydney Aust   (10.17.13)
We knew years ago about turkey, we used to said Israel prefer to learn in a hard way rather than an intelligent way as far as Turkey is concern. Turkey's weapon is Islam and if Israel play circular Israel will end up as a cheap turkey on the islamic plate! (end)
